I had wanted to grab a quesadilla from another local truck... when I got there and placed an order the wait said 30 minutes, I was way too hungry for that. Frantically I pulled out my phone and found El Gordis right down the road in the parking lot of a BP gas station at the intersection of Tennessee and Reading. I pulled up way too damn hungry, distraught, trying to figure out if I wanted a torta or a burrito or just like 16 different things. I ordered in a panic, and ended up with a steak torta. Payment via cash or cash app, no cards accepted. It was a delicious decision. What I got from the owner was probably one of the best Mexican meals I've had in this city, and that torta was a solid meal in and of itself. Piled HIGH with meat, two different types of cheeses, damn near a whole avocado, fresh jalapenos, home made salsa, lettuce, pico, and a grilled jalapeno and onion on the side for good measure. It was probably one of the most ridiculously large things I've eaten, and at $12 it was worth every single penny. While he was cooking I chatted with the owner, they're open until 9pm every night except Sunday but he's talking about opening until late on the weekends (like 1 am), because he apparently does good business in the evening. He marinates and makes all of his meat (including chorizo), bakes his own bread, dices his own tomatoes, it's all his handy work making this little truck work. And the results are well worth it.

I ordered 3 tacos bc I thought for $3 each, two wouldn't be enough... two might have been enough! They're mighty generous! Although, I have no regrets stuffing myself with the 3.I got one: pastor, Asada, and a chorizo! They were all delicious and each came with onion, cilantro, cheese, sour cream, lime, and a few radishes, and a cucumber slice. I will be back - and SOON - for some amazing tacos.Based on what I did eat, this place is a total 5 stars. But there are two drawbacks for me, 1) I'm craving a side - so like Mexican street corn, chips n salsa or cheese, guac, a desert taco... something. But, I totally understand that as a literal two person operation, simple is best... and I can't hold that against them! The second thing, I want to try the torta and the quesadilla but they're on the pricier side... they are probably absolutely worth it, but I don't see myself eating a whole one in my own to justify the price. This place can definitely hold its own measured side by side to any other taco in town!

So happy this is right down the road. You can call in order ahead and pick up. Well filled tacos and fantastic taste for $3 each. Only wish is they would post their ours. Sometimes they are closed on a random day.
