Sumburger

This is a very famous old time retro diner in Chillicothe. We miss their original retro diner & drive-in where we held our wedding reception and dined with friends and loved ones. They are now located on Western Ave next to Velero. Same great food and service. We picked up an order to go home. After eating fish with sides of fries and Cole slaw we both took votes on all the places in town and everywhere we have eaten across the country in our 70 year lifetime... that without a doubt Chillicothe Sumburger has the worlds BEST Cole slaw1 In fact if you want to get a great side dish to take to a family holiday or Church pot luck... get plenty of side dish of Sumburger Cole slaw... you will be the hit of the party!

$20 for Kids meal and Sumburger platter that didn't include a drink! Tea tasted like water which was the only substitute for pop. Haven't been here in 7 years and won't be back! Oh the drinks after I went up and asked if they were include were $6.50

Been going to Sumburger since the 70s. Although this new location is not as nostalgic it's still a great burger and fries. We drove an hour to taste the special hamburger. Never been disappointed.

I stopped here for lunch with a friend on Friday. He is a local, and had always raved about this place, so I was excited. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to the hype. I ordered the signature Sum Burger with everything but tomato, and this seemed to really confuse the cashier. I had to explain what I meant a few times after he read back the toppings. I guess customers don't go off-script too much. The burger was decent enough, but the lettuce and onions amounted to just a few small pieces of each, and the bun tasted like warmed-over-stale. I enjoy crinkle fries, and theirs were good, but my soda was mostly ice. On a positive note the place was very clean, and the staff was friendly.

I was very pleased with my meal here. This isn't your typical chain restaurant food. I had the Double Sumburger plater which was really good. You can tell they cook each order fresh as they receive, which is a pleasant change to other fast food restaurants. The only downside was there was no ice cream available at our stop, but I'm sure that will eventually change. Glad we stopped and will again when returning to the area.

A local tradition for decades, but now at a newer location on the west side of town. More than just burgers and fries.

I stopped in today, Jan 8, 2025, looking forward to getting a milkshake along with my Ham and Swiss deluxe sandwich. However, I was told that they do not serve any ice cream products during the winter months because it is too cold during the winter time. I, and another customer, commented that ice cream was good year-round, and the other customer stated that it was like saying you will not be serving coffee during the summer because it is too hot to serve it. I was hungry, so I ordered my above sandwich. After I sat down, I remembered the girl at the register did not ask me what I wanted on my sandwich. So I went back up and asked if she could request that they put pickles and mayo on my sandwich. When I got my food, it was a grilled cheese sandwich with American cheese and a little ham with pickles and mayo. I showed it to her and then asked for the manager. I showed the manager, and she told me that she would refund my money, which she did. I am just saying that since you have on your sign outside for ice cream, you need to have ice cream year-round

Great food and service. Very clean. One of the best restaurants in Chillicothe for sure!

Be prepared to clean your own tables. And should just say we're never having ice cream again. Food is good though.
