Went out on a drizzly weeknight in beautiful Covington KY just to check out the nightlife and visit a couple of local bars. Strasse Haus has an outdoor, covered bar and stage. It's kind of like walking into a huge garage. Very cool. So there was a guy setting up for his acoustic set, and we decided to stick around and have a couple of beers. There were about 6 people in the outdoor area, so the drink service was quick and friendly. I did go into the main bar to use the bathroom. It was pretty packed! Lots of locals. Lots of smoking that other reviewers alluded to. We don't smoke, so I can see how it might bother some. I also believe that a business owner should have the freedom to allow smoking if they choose. I just avoid being bothered by it. Anyway, the guy and his acoustic guitar were pretty good. The beers were cold, and there were some really interesting folks to talk to, so all in all, it was a nice, quiet night out with the family.

Went to strasse Haus this place smelled so bad of smoke. They let you smoke inside. I and my husband both don't smoke so we left and saw they had a outside area to serve people however there was no bartender there. So we left! Not sure how good this place is since we did not get any service. I am thinking maybe outside is only for certain times!

We stopped by after a FCC game and the service was pretty good after a slow start. We weren't sure we would stay for dinner since the initial contact was less than welcoming. However after we were seated (in the covered area between buildings) and the first drink arrived service improved dramatically and we elected to give it a go. We had 10 people in our party and a variety of items were ordered. the appetizers were good and the sandwiches more than met expectations.

Came here for drinks. On the day where Germany killed Brazil in the world cup (FIFA). What followed? Drinks. Lots of drinks. We did however order some menu items, other than drinks. We ordered Sauerkraut balls. What did I think? If you were intoxicated and you wanted to chew on something, this would be it. It didn't really have any flavor and it came with some thousand island dressing. I also wanted to note that this place is smoke friendly. So, if you're not into smoking, I probably wouldn't suggest coming here. However, it seems like there's an old crowd atmosphere here and I definitely don't think that's a bad thing. This is a small place, I wouldn't be a regular but I could see how you could become one. I think Strasse is a long-time patron based bar, everyone knows everyone and when new people come they are nice and want to get to know you. The community sense is what was good in my opnion that you just don't usually get at other places.

Strasse Haus is your pretty standard MainStrasse bar, though the crowd tends to be a little bit older than the college crowd at Pachinkos or Cosmo's. There's a large patio open year round (covered in the winter, course) and pool tables upstairs. On the weekends, they often have local cover bands or a DJ spinning Top 40's tunes. While the bar itself is not a standout in my opinion, a few of their food items are. In particular, Strasse Haus's sauerkraut balls are wunderbar! Forget Hofbrauhaus' flavorless version. Strasse Haus's savory appetizer is filled with cream cheese, sausage, sauerkraut, which is then deep fried and served with 1000 island dressing. Since 5 balls only cost $4.95, order a double batch and share with your friends. I don't think I'll be hanging out at Strasse Haus for cocktails, but I'll definitely go back from their yummy deep-fried treats.

Terrible. When we first got here, the bartender was super friendly and immediately got us drinks. The bar wasn't too busy yet but an hour or so later the bar became much busier. It took at least 10 minutes to get a drink. She wouldn't even recognize us standing there waiting. By the time is was 430 I feel she could've used more help. As I went to go cash out, I told her my name and I watched her take my card over to another customer and show my card and say my name out loud. Even a couple who was sitting at the bar while I was waiting to get my check noticed too. I'm not one to confront people but I was genuinely concerned why she felt the need to take my card and show someone else and say my name out-loud. I asked her why she did it and she said she didn't it was someone else's card. She immediately had an attitude and super defensive. Needless to say I won't be back.

Maybe the rating isn't fair because we didn't stick around long enough to order anything. We have heard some good things and def wanted to give this place a try. But.... once inside we were greeted by a heavy wall of cigarette smoke. I'm not being critical here. If that's your thing, great. But it's definitely not ours. We left and went to Zola next door and had an awesome meal.
