This place is fantastic. Literally in an old house in the middle of nowhere. Food and service is outstanding. The chicken is delicious. You can do the buffet (staff plates it for you) or order off the menu. The dessert menu is LONG and delicious. There has always been a line when we've gone but it moves quickly. Well worth the drive.

We heard about this place on Chowdown Cincinnati and decided to take a road trip to check it out. About a 75 minute drive for us. The Friday nite buffet was 15 bucks and included chicken, fish and shrimp, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, slaw and a small salad bar. The buffet is served cafeteria style, which means someone else fixes your plate while you watch. I had chicken and fish and a salad plate and came back a little later for seconds on fish, potatoes and green beans. Everything tasted good and I was full. They had a LOT of different pies so we each got 2 pieces to go (sugar creme and chocolate meringue.) Service was friendly and attentive. This place requires driving 13 miles on some narrow country roads once you leave I-74, so it will probably be our only visit there, but it was nice to be able to eat here in a one-horse town on a beautiful Feb day in the 60s.

We went to Stone's for the first time on Saturday. It is pretty much in the middle of nowhere and it was a struggle to find a parking spot it was so full. Part of the reason that it was so full was the IU game was on and the bar was full. They have a fried chicken buffet that starts at 4:00 p.m. on the weekends and my husband is a fried chicken fan and I am not. They do have other things on the buffet so I did go ahead and get it. The other things on the buffet on this night was country fried steak, and beef liver and onions. We had another couple with us and we all got the buffet. The hubby was not too impressed with the chicken and the selection of chicken parts was not good at the buffet there were no legs on his second trip and it had just been filled. The green beans were as if they had opened the can and dumped them on the warming station, no seasoning at all and only lukewarm. I did like the beef liver and onions in gravy. Was not a big fan of the mashed potatoes, they were bland and watery. They were extremely busy and the service was great! Three of us ordered a piece of pie. I had the sugar cream pie and my friends had the blueberry and the peanut butter chocolate pie. The peanut butter pie was by far the favorite. It is unlikely we will make this drive out there again but glad we got to give it a try.

A friend recommended this restaurant for us to go try out their famous fried chicken. From the time we pulled into the parking lot until the time we left, I will say it was five stars for sure. Amazing food and amazing customer service, you actually felt like they wanted you to be there.During Covid, the Buffet was turned into cafeteria style serving, and they continued that even after Covid. I would say it was a great improvement sense you felt the utensils used to serve the food that was being served was very sanitary.I would give this place 10 Stars if allowed.

Ended up at Stones Family Restaurant on the way to Cincinnati from Indianapolis. First, let me tell you, make the detour! Just do it. This place slaps so hard. The vibe is so friendly, casual, and chill. The staff are just the best. Honestly, I wanted to leave with parting hugs, but I didn't want to make it weird. The fried chicken is incredible. Crispy. Perfectly cooked. Expertly seasoned. The buffet tonight had smoked wings and the flavor about knocked me off my feets. Salad bar and veggies are on the cafeteria style buffet. A variety of homemade pies are available. I imagine they're all good. Martina's peanut butter pie is incredible. I hope to see Jen's Pie Flight on the menu soon. You know it's the right thing to do. P.S. Try the kraut balls

We found this gem via Yelp all while our "smart" gps guidance in the car was taking us down dirt/gravel roads in middle of corn fields. Yay. We were SO happy to see this place, and even happier to dine within!! The buffet is quaint yet divine. The sweet sauerkraut was a first for us both. Unique to say the least. Asked for a recipe for it, but they couldn't tell us. Dernit. Other foods delicious, and the peanut butter pie is to DIE for! Oreo crust!! YUM!

The buffet is great. You just tell the server what you want on your plate. Everyone is very friendly and has taken great care of us each time we are there. The place is an old house turned into a restaurant and it's kept clean and decorated for the seasons and holidays coming up.

We drove about an hour to get here. It was worth the drive! We've been doing the Southeast Indiana Chicken Trail the last year and this place was fantastic. The service was quick and friendly. My wife and I got a whole fried chicken, the reason for our visit. Very crispy outside and juicy inside! We heard they are also known for their pies....I got chocolate meringue! Again, fantastic! If you love great fried chicken, this is a destination. The employees were hustling and were very friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back!Thank you for a great experience.

This is 2x review. Visited Stone's first time and food was amazing. Service was phenomenal and personable. Husband and I were pleasantly surprised by quality of food. Atmosphere and history was also fun, staff equal. Was impressed by employees in such remote location. Decided to order take out for later that weekend for family get together. The chicken and sides were just as amazing as when ordering at restaurant. Thank You Stone's!! Will return
