Steiner's Country Market

Steiners is an Amish (Mennonite?) deli and market owned by a local family. Some of the positives are available local meat (frozen) and eggs, locally baked pies and a variety of breads. Unfortunately you can't tell if the bread was baked yesterday or three days ago. There's a secret color code on the label and I asked the girl at the checkout what days each color meant and she said she didn't know. That's a problem when you're dealing with no-preservative items.Lots of jarred pickle and preserve products to tempt your taste buds and all from small regional producers. In summer there's a fair amount of farm produce but nowhere near what you'd find at a farmers market. They have lovely seasonal potted flowers and of course the sturdy, handmade, bank-breaking Amish outdoor furniture. They sell a lot of things like frozen vegetables, baking mixes, spices, candy (huge amounts of candy), chocolate melts, in small bags with their own label. Unfortunately this stuff seems to be bought from big wholesalers. I have seen giant Sysco and GFS trucks in the lot. They use a weird dating system on these bagged goods- just a number where 15 would be January 15 and 360 would be December 26; get it? But you have no way of knowing if that means this year. Or last year, ick.So it's a mixed bag here. Not everything is going to be local or GMO-free. Look carefully before you buy.

Hubby & I shopped today for deli meat & cheese. Cannot beat their prices & the service is second to none. I buy spices here every time I shop. With the holidays right around the corner, I'm stocking up on garlic powder, nutmeg, ginger, poultry seasoning, etc. Also bought sandwiches that they prepare with fresh cut deli meat & cheese and all the toppings of your choice. The employees are so polite & helpful. Love this place!

If I you want to get screamed at by 2 workers on your first trip here this is your place!!! Hey even when the doors are unlocked and open, don't you dare enter after 5pm! I mean who doesn't love customer service like that? Needless to say, this girl will NEVER enter through those doors again!!

Great selection of bulk items. Excellent prices on deli meats. We drive an hour to go every 2 months or so to stock up. We'll worth the trip.

Really liked the tater salad, bought some beef bologna will go back and try some more stuff

I just visited Steiner's this past weekend. The deli prices were so much cheaper than any other grocery I have been to. Friendly service. I will be going back soon.

That place is like a Amish store and I was wow by it They have a lot of baking items and fresh vegetables Friendly people there

We love their Oven Roasted Turkey and Oven Roasted Chicken. We also enjoy their Colby cheese and Mozzarella. There are not to mean places that have really good flavored Banana Chips but they do at a reasonable price, too. We will be going here for sure.

wife just got home from there...she loved the place all except for the fact they double charged her for some canning jars. NONE of their 3 listed phone numbers work so there's no way to contact them. No website, no facebook (won't allow posting or messages to contact them), no email and no phones that work. Guess we will have to drive all the way back in person to get it corrected. Uggg.

A breath of fresh air! I wish I lived closer so I could shop here more often. It's refreshing to know that many of the items are homemade and made by people who put love in as a secret ingredient. The prices are comparable to other stores, but even if they were higher, I would gladly pay it to support this small business. Everything was fresh and the store (and bathrooms) were clean and tidy. I will definitely be back!!
