Stanbery Park is tucked behind Walgreens and Auto Zone. If you don't know it's there, it is easy to miss it. I know I have never noticed it before. Searching "parks" on YELP is what brought us here. If looking to go walking, there are two trails. One is a paved trail. That trail is quite wide, and could easily be used by children with scooters or bikes. The trail is also handicap accessible. It should be noted that some parts that are little steeper than others. The other Trail goes into the woods. This trail is not handicap-accessible. There are lots of exposed roots along the trail. A bit hard for toddlers, but kids 5 and up should do well. There is a creek that runs along part of the nature trail. Overall it is a nice and short trail; perfect for when you want to get out into nature, but don't have a lot of time. The dogs seemed to enjoy the nature trail as well. Amenities include covered picnic shelter, play structure, restrooms, and drinking fountain spread around the park. There we several wide open areas as well.

Updating my review from 2 stars to 4. Why? Because of the work the city of Mt. Washington has done to flip this park. Each week there is a small but growing Farmers Market on Saturday mornings where local businesses showcase their goods. On select Friday nights, a variety of musicians and bands light up the park. The council has done a lot to promote family time in the park, especially with starring Zac Morgan for concert night and starting "movie night." People are encourage to fill the park to deter those unwanted guests (sadly, drugs). It's getting better!!!

Such a beautiful park! The trail winds down to a stream amidst lovely woods. It does get muddy and slippery when wet, so I'd recommend waiting a day after rain. The difficulty level is low and the circuit takes about 30 minutes. A pleasant shelter is available for parties or events, there's a playground, an open field, a large grassy hill, and bathrooms. It's perfect for families or hikers.

I've lived adjacent to this park for six months, but had not visited because I never knew exactly where the entrance was! Well today the dog needed some exercise and Otto Armleder was closed due to flooding, so we drove over to Stanbery instead. I'm glad we did! It's a very well kept park, on par with an Alms or even Ault (because of the trails). There's a small playground right at the front, and then at the end of a paved path are some picnic areas. There are several trails that lead off along that main path, and though they were quite muddy, we had fun hiking. One path even winds along the Little Miami and my dog thought that was super fun!

Stanberry Park is jewel inside the outer neighborhood of Mt. Washington in Cincinnati. Mt. Washington sits on a hill above the Little Miami River and this park stretches from the center of the neighborhood all the way down to the river.Stanberry has several trails that lead you through the woods and then back out again. There is a gorgeous creek that winds through the woods and ends up in the river. The front of the park was recently redone. There used to be just a field, but now there is a nice jungle jim and pathways that go around the field. In the back of the park there is a spacious pavilion and lots of picnic benches and grills that make for a nice cookout in good weather. There used to be a house on the grounds that was the Stanberry family's house and it stood boarded up for years after the land was donated to the city for the park. After a recent visited I discovered the house had been removed. Growing up I had so many good times in this park from creek walking, to trail blazing, swinging on the swings to playing football in the field. It's a great place to relax and get some exercise!

Wow I completely agree with Alexandra K, Stanberry Park is a jewel in Mt. Washington! I had knowledge that there was a park here for quite some time (since for almost two years I drove down sutton from beechmont on my way to work) but I never investigated. We were on our way to explore California Woods last weekend only to discover that it was closed for "wildlife management." On a sunday morning... booo... (as elmer fudd would say they "were hunting wrabbits" or deer or whatever I'm sure)So we were not to be swayed on our quest to find a new trail/park/wildlife-adventure on the east side and yelp'd parks in Mt. Washington. And our discovery of the wonderful Stanberry Park begins!Stanberry is in great shape! It appears to be well maintained and some money has been invested in the trails, bridges, markers, playground, etc. They have a few short paved walks in good condition with distance markers set into the path on nice "Cincinnati Park Board" markers.- 0.5mi distance to the shelter and back.- 0.13mi distance around the oval once. They have a nice playground area with some swings and a restroom building (however I can't speak to its quality since we didnt use it). They also have a larger shelter built back into the woods with lots of grills and picnic tables around. I think the gold star on this place is the actual woodland trails blazed throughout the woods and that follow the creekbeds that wander back in the woods. The trails are mostly a simple single-track with some trees and things laying across the path but mostly they have cut away trees that have fallen. There aren't a lot of roots or things and it is not too steep in any one place. There are some rebuild bridges and some stairs built into areas where such things are required to make the trail simpler. I'm still not sure how far the "A" trail loop is, judging from a map and our time spent I would say somewhere on the order of 1.25 to 1.75mi but I may be long. There do seem to be some breakoff trails and a mysterious "B" trail that we couldn't find but we didnt look too hard.Overall, we will definitely be back to Stanberry and I recommend that you take your dog for a walk there or bring your kids for a wander through the woods, you will enjoy it.

I am so lucky to live within walking distance of this wonderful park. And the crazy thing is most people, even in Mt Washington, don't even know about it. It is definitely a hidden gem with wonderful hikes that go all the way to the little Miami river with creeks and wildlife galore. I love taking my dog here - dogs should be leashed but every once in awhile I'll unleash her just so she can bound around the forest and enjoy the fresh water too if no one is around. This park also has a playground in the front and picnic table/shelter in the back for those with kiddies. Ps it is probably better known for its amazing hill for sledding in the winter!PPS it is actually spelled stanbery but since reviews are out I just went with it! If you google it either spelling will get you there ;-)

Absolutely not and it's too bad because it's in a great location. I used to take my son here when he was little and I just needed to get him to burn some energy (and I certainly did not go any further than the swings). The only time I would consider going on a trail is if I had my German Shepherd with me. The weekly markets aren't so charming that it makes up for the remaining six days worth of litter and drug use.
