Skippers Pub

A wild and wonderful college-town pub. My son and I wandered in, starving. The amazing burgers and fries were out quickly and the back bar had cheap, large beers and drinks. Took me back to my college days and my son got a taste of college fun at 14.

I have a deep love for Skippers. It is some of the best food in Oxford even if it's just frozen and fried. It is consistently good whether it's a drunk gorging session or just an afternoon meal. Service is quick even when it's packed, and the patio on a nice day is lovely. Absolutely an Oxford staple and arguably the most iconic Oxford food place. Owner Tommy is slightly creepy towards college girls but can't dock the establishment over that.

First off, if you're going to go here looking for a five star restaurant, don't. You go here for the history, atmosphere and food. You're in a college town in a college bar/restaurant. However, don't let that fool you. The food is great! We have been here several times and it has never disappointed! One of the owners Terri (no clue how you spell it) came out and was talking with us, laughing, playing with our kids. Just something you don't get anymore. Everyone left stuffed and happy and the wallet was not hurting by the time we left!

It's good food at a reasonable price with a nostalgic feel. Though the place is old and could use a revamp and some updates, you feel relaxed and worry free as you eat from this simple, comfort food filled menu. Staff was friendly and attentive. I would rate it a 4-5 with just a couple fixes- clean up a bit, upgrade and update the place overall, quicker food prep and more comfortable seating. But for an old historic downtown, this is a nice place to drop into for lunch.

Gyro platter here is the way to go! Big fan of both the lamb and chicken gyros, which comes with tomato and lettuce. The lamb is indulgent, and comes with the classic cucumber tzatziki sauce; the chicken is nicely done and comes with a honey mustard sauce (can be subbed with the tzatziki sauce). You can select either the normal or waffle fries, and I have been happy with both! The platter is a great deal for a filling lunch option. Recently, I also tried the philly cheesesteak sandwich to switch it up, it was fine, just not as much meat or flavor. My friend also suggests the hamburgers, and the pitas.

Great vibe. Great food. Fast service. What else you need. Drop by! Won't be disappointed.

Food was delicious, staff very friendly. Real neat College town feel. We had just been grocery shopping and wanted to eat at a place we hadn't been to. Downtown Oxford is a neat place to visit. We stumbled across Skippers and glad we did.

Iconic spot on High St in Ox Vegas! Not upscale, by design. Good greasy food at reasonable prices. It is obvious why this place is an Oxford staple for 40 years or whatever. PS legit gyros. The kind on a rotating spit. Where else you gonna find that around town? I recommend. It is wild on late nights. One of the few places where the staff seems to care about working! We stop there every time we are in Oxford. I do miss the big trees out in front!

We always come here when my kids have a swim meet in town. We love their gyros and fries! Great family owned restaurant and bar!

Good food, real hustle with staff.Bathroom door does not close or lock and it is gross.If you're going to serve that much beer you ought to provide a working bathroom door and clean bathroom.
