What I think surprises me the most is that, regardless of the rave reviews, the donuts and cookies are mediocre, at best. They taste exactly the same as they do at Happy Donuts, a place in California that I used to go to.It's so sad that in such a mediocre town like Springfield, one must be purely content with what others would term as 'basic'. Having to fake enjoyment of their cookies to not to be rude to the person who took me was just sad.Don't get me wrong, the donuts are good, at least the plain glazed, but they aren't really anything special.

I've always loved Schulers. I'd put them up against Bill's in a taste test, but the whole wheat donuts alone are why we come. No, they are not the same they were even 20 years ago. They no longer look like chocolate. The textures the same but they are still great. Delicate, airy, but moist and a chrunchy glaze. It's a freaking unicorn.

Love the brownie with nuts. Wheat donuts are great. My husband likes the sugar cookies. The chocolate Bismarck is bomb.com

If you're like most Springfielders then you grew up getting this treat once in a while. Maybe after church onSundays, always before the Memorial Day parade, birthdays, etc. They are still very good but it seems like they changed something. It used to be not as commercial tasting. It tasted as if your mom made something fresh and out of the oven with love. Now it tastes like any other doughnut to me. Still good, still fresh( if you go very early in the day) but different.

4 words: Chocolate Cream Filled Donuts - Uh Mah Gooooodnessssss!! Schuler's is a Springfield tradition and staple. If you grow up in Springfield you've consumed dozens and dozens of their cookies and donuts guaranteed. Schuler's is a family run bakery with 2 locations. I must admit I miss the tiny Mitchell Rd. store, but hell regardless of the location, the sweets are damn good. Their chocolate cream filled donuts are our favorite. We're also partial to their glazed, butterfly & chocolate chip cookies and iced pumpkin cookies. This is sugar induced coma at it's finest.Schuler's is the type of place that every out of towner gets taken to while they're visiting, where every local that has moved away stops first thing when they get back and where locals that live out of town beg their family to bring them when they come to visit. This stuff is addicting. Their donuts are really light and fluffy with tons of great glazes and toppings. They are hearty donuts too, nothing whimpy and small. Be sure you have a big glass of ice cold milk, cause you're gonna need it upon eating a goodie at Schuler's. Schuler's reminds me of my childhood. Waking up on the weekends and excited to see the big white box with blue lettering on the table. SCHULER'S..............If you're passing through town it's definitely worth a stop to get a taste for yourself of the yummy goodness Schuler's has to offer. And don't go a blaming me when you get addicted and gain 10 pounds from your multiple visits, just call me up and we'll go donut diving together. MMmmm Mmmmm Mmmmm

Can't put my finger on it. Maybe it was the sign telling me they didn't give a shit if I was offended by their views (as if I asked...) or maybe it was my childhood reminding me what it WAS LIKE back in the day strolling into Schuler's with my dad. Without knowing how good Schuler's was in their heyday, it's clear that their product has gone downhill. Ingredients aren't as high of quality and they now consistently struggle to get the dough/icing/cream ratio correct on their cream filled donuts. But they got you covered if you need popcorn or egg noodles! Lol. They're still the best show in town (for doughnuts) and I'll still stop in periodically when I'm in town.

We stopped by Schuler's this afternoon while visiting Springfield (from our home in Dayton, just up the road -- no idea why it says San Francisco under my name above). We thought it would be nice to support a longstanding local business and get some sweet treats while we were at it. Upon entering we were confronted with a large sign announcing (something like) "at this business we say Merry Christmas and one nation under God, and [fill in several more right-wing talking points]. If this offends you, we invite you to LEAVE." So we immediately turned around and left, as suggested. We wouldn't dream of patronizing a store that doesn't want our business and that finds it appropriate to deliberately alienate would-be customers who don't share their political views. Thought other potential customers might like to know.

I stopped in and purchased some donuts and a cupcake last Saturday evening. I wish I had checked the items before I left the store because they were so dry and stale. Total waste of money.

In my opinion, Schuler's makes the finest donuts anywhere in the United States. The quality is a guarantee and the quantity does not waiver. It is the same sumptuous donut as when I was a kid in the 1970s. I have lived all over America and eaten all the donuts...nothing compares to Schuler's.

Their products especially donuts , cookies ,brownies and cakes has stayed consistent and we enjoyed them. However the prices have steadily increased and are not consistent with the market. They've gotten to a point now where I'm considering not purchasing at Schuler's. I heard this as a theme. As I travel to to other places ( also homemade) they are not changing $1.25 a cookie or well over $12 for a baker's dozen of donuts. I feel they are taking advantage of loyalty and not merely responding to market cost. Disenchanted!!!
