Guys. This place is legit. Tucked away in an unassuming block in Lockland (I think), this place is serving up delicious and reasonably priced food. Thankfully yelp's search abs reviews put this joint on my radar. IEnough chit chat. Let's talk about Pollo Shaddai. It has the look abs feel of a diner. Our waiter asked if we'd had Guatemalan food before. When we said "no," he took us through the menu and explained everything to us. On his recommendation, we started off with the Garnanchos which were mini fried tortillas topped with an amazingly seasoned ground beef mixture, sautéed cabbage, cheese and red salsa. O. M. G. Delicious!!! Definitely get an order to share when you go. The boyfriend got the Combo Shaddai which is 3 pieces of fried chicken and fries that are topped with Mayo, ketchup, abs a spicy green ketchup. He was a little sketch on the green ketchup and got it on the side. I loved it! He said the chicken was really good... very similar to the type of fried chicken you'd expect from a restaurant, but felt the breading was a little sweeter. I got the Pepian which came with 2 pieces of chicken that were smothered in a tasty curry sauce. Don't let the word "curry" fool you. It wasn't as heavily spiced as an Indian curry, but it was delicious. Mellow and delicious, it came with a side of rice and a salad made with carrots abs green beans in mayo. The waiter said it's a polarizing dish. Most either love it or hate it. I was in the middle. I wanted just a dash of spice to go with it. We both had leftovers, but we definitely didn't have any garnanchos left. We devoured all 5 of those suckers due to their amazingness. Basically, you need to check this place out. It was delightful!!!

I called ahead and placed a takeout order for a burrito with extra refried beans no rice and a single drumstick because I wanted to check out their fried chicken, not really expecting too much because I honestly I've never seen a combination Mexican fried Chicken joint. When I got there they were pretty busy and the smell was incredibly powerful, appetizing to say the least! the gentleman who took my order told me it would have been like 10 minutes and I definitely waited longer than that, but it wasn't a terrible wait. Got home and dove in...the burrito was okay, refried black beans which is one of my favorites and a decent amount of filling but nothing really great in the flavor department, the steak was some of the chewier fattier cuts which is always annoying for me. the fried chicken though is actually great! Had a super light fry like almost to the point that I couldn't tell if it was roasted or fried, it was barely just a bit of coating and super crispy skin. I'll definitely go back for more of that!

I got take-out from Pollo Shaddai tonight and was absolutely blown away. The inside was small and cozy, with a few regulars relaxing at some of the tables. My food was already cooked, bagged, and sitting on the table, and I was waited on immediately. But it's the small touches that count -- as I walked out with my two bags, the waiter ran ahead to open the door for me. A small act of kindness you rarely see, especially when you're just getting take-out. Then I got home & checked out the food. OMG -- the real winner here was the Pepian -- the fried chicken stew. The chicken was so tender and moist, it was falling off the bone. They gave me the juice it was stewed in on the side, and it worked well as a dipping sauce. Also loved the fried plantains. Each plantain was served side-by-side, packed like orderly little bundles in the container (before now I had always seen fried plantains mushed together like a plantain au gratin). They were very well-cooked, soft and flavorful. The Caldo de Gallina (chicken soup) reminded me of Peruvian soup: the broth was absolutely amazing and, just like Peruvian chicken soup, there were gigantic chunks of chicken and potatoes in the soup (I'm talking an eighth of the chicken in one piece). Strongly recommend this place for an authentic adventure -- all was more savory than spicy, remained true to Guatemalan cuisine, and cooked with love.

I was looking for something authentic but not too far out of my comfort zone and close to the house, so I tried Pollo Shaddai. It exceeded expectations! I got their signature dish, pollo shaddai, and while it wasn't completely unique from other fried chickens it was definitely delicious. The chicken legs are HUGE! The chicken skin is crispy and doesn't slide. The batter is a little sweet, but good. Just enough to remind you you're eating Guatemalan food. They also are open later than most restaurants in this part of town. So if you are looking for a spin on fried chicken while supporting local business, I definitely recommend Pollo Shaddai.

My family has been here twice for fried chicken and both times it has been delicious - crispy, well-seasoned, and juicy. You'll love it if you like dark meat because it seems most pieces were thighs and legs. Their other items - carne asada, burritos, fajitas Shaddai have also been on point, and the portions are generous. The staff are friendly and quick. This place is definitely going into our eating out rotation, which is a high compliment for this foodie family.

Loved the food! I was feeling a bit homesick, as i'm from LA with guatemalan family and there's plenty of food like this all around. So being near the area, i decided to check it out and felt right at home! The food was yummy, the service was great too. I ordered a plate of garnachas with some plátanos on the side. Appreciate this little piece of guatemala here in cincinnati. Will be coming back when i'm in ohio again!

I really liked it. The food was fantastic, the service was great. They didn't speak English and I don't speak Peruvian or whatever they were speaking, but it all worked out. It is a great experience and food is what brings us all together.
