My husbands favorite restaurant so every year for his birthday we make the trip up to Dayton. The only downside to it being so good is the wait. It's such a long wait with nowhere to stand. The bar is always packed and hard to move around. They have the best steaks around and always prepared exactly how you ask. They also have really soft bread and their blue cheese is the best I have had.

Oakwood Club has been on our list of restaurants to try for quite some time. They only take reservations for parties of 5 or more, and we had heard from friends that it gets pretty crowded, especially Friday and Saturday nights. We went on a Friday evening and arrived at 5pm in hopes of getting a table before it filled up (they open at 430). We got a table right away, but it was a booth in the bar. Before being seated, the hostess asked twice if we were okay with sitting in the bar area and since we had never been, we weren't going to be picky. However as the meal began, we quickly noticed that the bar area gets packed as people wait for tables -- at least 2 deep across the whole bar (people standing behind a person already sitting at a bar seat), so there were people basically backed up to our table while we ate. We could also overhear all the conversations from the bar patrons. If we had to do it over, we would opt for a table in the regular dining area. The menu has a good selection, and prices range from $15 for a burger, to ~$50 for the most expensive steak. We each got a bowl of French onion soup to start. The flavor was great, but it lacked croutons or bread to give a little crunch. We then moved on to filets, and they were excellent. Unlike some steakhouses were all the sides are a la cart, two sides come with each entree at Oakwood Club. I got a side Caesar salad and a sweet potato. My SO got the fried onion rings and vegetables. The sweet potato was delicious and the fried onion rings were also really good. The service was good, but the ambience was mehh due to the bar seating as mentioned above, and the lightening, which is pretty dark with a red hue from the fixtures above the tables. Overall, we enjoyed the food and won't hesitate to come back, but would definitely wait for a table in the main dining area next time.

Best steakhouse in town! The bar staff is wonderful and makes amazing drinks. The food is always cooked perfectly. The filet melts in your mouth, and the seasoning on the NY strip is tough to beat. Classic, upscale ambiance. Definitely worth the wait.

Amazing. This is an evening for some culinary delight. If you want an evening of flavor, this is a must! Great flavor. Don't rush this one. The build up is worth it. I found this gem researching restaurants in Dayton. This one hits the mark. So my evening began on a Tuesday evening. It was raining outside and I called in for a late dinner reservation at 8:15 pm. I walked in to the dimly lit restaurant and was given a choice to sit on the dining room side or the bar side. Both were setup very nicely and I chose a comfortable booth on the bar side. It was just me so it was nice to observe. The bar is well stocked. I decided to go the wine route this evening. I started with a nice Moscato. Stacy took care of me and after delivering my Moscato went into the specials. They had a seasonal bruschetta with heirloom tomatoes, pesto, and balsamic. That was good for starters. I also went with the ribeye special which was seared and presented rare (as it should be) with mixed veggies and mashed potatoes and a shiitake mushroom glaze. I paired the Malbecwith my ribeye. That was excellent. Everything was flavorful and cooked to perfection. All of the dish presentations were great! I finished with a carrot cake which is made in house. Almost all of their desserts are made in house. Of course, I paired my dessert with a cup of coffee. This is not an inexpensive outing, but the experience is worth the price. It was great service, great food, and a relaxing evening even with the rain outsideand a calm ambiance to inside. Stacy did great with service. Add this one to your list if you are in Dayton. You won't be disappointed.

I love the look and old school feel of the Oakwood Club; dimly lit with tables close together. As expected, the service was top notch. I had the prime rib which was tender and a perfect medium rare. The scallops were prepared perfectly and the lamb chops were double chops, cooked to a perfect medium rare. Desert was delicious as well. I had the key lime pie with homemade whipped cream. The cocktails were well prepared and the wine was a generous pour. Overall a great night out and we will be back. If you want a traditional steakhouse dinner this is the best in Dayton in my humble opinion.

We have been coming to the Oakwood Club for over 36 years. We had our wedding rehearsal dinner there! There has been a significant turnover in servers. This maybe explains our recent experience on Thursday Jan 9 when my husband and I both ordered the filet mignon. The server asked us to statecour one side when clearly the menu provides us with 2 sides. What is happening! We clearly felt ripped off!!!!

Food, service, ambiance was great. However, there is some shady business. My boyfriend was groped by another customer. Not the restaurants fault but something to look out for. Just stay away from the mugs at the bar they are weird.

It is a fabulous place to eat. They have the best steaks in town. The service is really great, but the price is pricey so expect to pay but for that with all the goodies I guess it doesn't matter.

Quality of the steaks is definitely not what is was when it was under the ownership of the Stewart family. Disappointing
