This was a cool way to burn off some of that post-Thanksgiving energy and calories. It was $30 for two people including skate rental and unlimited skate for the available time period. We did not need 4 hours since we had little children with us that were a bit tired after 1 hour of skating. It was nice that they have little plastic carts that can go on the ice to help the littles keep their balance and not fall all the time. To be honest, there were several adults using them too because ice skating isn't that easy for some beginners. One thing that was different was that there was a group of people with disabilities on mobility assist sled/skates zooming around on the ice and that was cool to see. Again, this was a nice place to burn energy after thanksgiving and just have fun like a kid. They also have video games and a food/concession area if you get the munchies or need to do something other than skate. You also don't have to pay if you're not skating so our family members were able to come out in the arena and take photos. The other thing is it's super cold in the skating arena. I've been to other arenas and it's not been that cold but I could actually feel the cold through the skates. So basically, layer up so you can skate for longer.

Great little spot to ice skate! Went on a double date here after dinner on a Saturday. They offer a public skate window from 8-10 in the evening. It is $10 per person which includes both entry and skate rental. Very affordable activity! The only reason I'm not giving Northland Ice 5 stars is due to a couple very minor factors. It is slightly dated, but I get it. It's primarily a hockey facility and you don't really need it to be state of the art. And for ice skating, really all you need is the ice and some skates. The bathrooms however were .. not the nicest. Public skate did get a tad crowded, but that's not their fault whatsoever. Just something to be aware of if you have inexperienced skaters in your group. There were some people out there going pretty fast. They have your standard concessions. Think high school sporting event set up. So no alcohol. Which we were bummed at first coming from dinner, but honestly, it was probably for the best as we're not too adept on the ice! HahaLastly, the music played during public skate. I had no issue with it at all, until some songs came on that were not edited. The profanities don't offend me personally, but there were children present. Overall, it's a solid place to scratch that ice skating itch. Our group really wanted somewhere indoors to go, and this provided a very fun evening for us. They do offer other hours I believe. Either way, extremely cheap and enjoyable!

Got a group of families together to purchase the Groupon and it was so worth it! The kids wore themselves out trying to become Olympic figure skaters in a 3-4 hour session and loved every sweaty minute of it. I gave 4 out of 5 stars because they did not properly anticipate the sheer number of people that would be out of school/work and take advantage of the day off to work out heir ankle strength. I sat in the lobby outside the rink reading as my kids and their friends enjoyed themselves. The facility was definitely at capacity yet they did not have enough personnel on hand to man the entrance, pro shop, skate rental booth, AND the concession stand. Plus the stand kept running out of items or did not have everything in the menu up resulting in a LOT of hungry kids needing to leave to get food instead of staying for their full session.

The place was easy to find. There's a huge sign that says Ice skating. There are parking right outside available, and it is shared with the small hospital on other side. General skating hour during the week from Tuesday-Thursday is 1-3pm. I've got my tickets through GroupOn less than $10 with promo code from GroupOn, which was very cheap for two people including the skate rentals. The inside was outdated but I've never visited any ice rink that wasn't outdated. A man who worked there was nice I guess. I have no complaint about him. The skates are also outdated but expected. The rink itself wasn't bad. It's pretty big and we had a lot of fun. There was a food stand inside too. I would go here again because the tickets were so cheap for the fun experience we had.

As a skating rink, this place proved really solid. As a spot to host my step-daughter's birthday gathering with friends... Not so much. The facilities feel a bit dated and it is rougher around the edges than I was expecting but the rink itself is large and the observation area around it is really nice. Even when crowded there are spots to sit and plenty of ways to have a bit of fun. They cleaned the ice regularly while we were there and, though crowded, the facility was able to handle everyone well out on the ice.The welcome area wasn't nearly as big as I was expecting and please be warned, if your daughter says she wants to have her birthday party there and the private rooms are booked please think twice before committing. You may find yourself, like me, cleaning off a space and jockeying for position to nab the one table big enough to host a cake and a small crowd. Despite the facility's assurance that this would not be an issue, it was a challenge and the sad looks of other kids who didn't know my daughter but looked longingly at the cake just added to the atmosphere. It all turned out okay but wasn't as easy as original asserted by Northland and required adults to man the table at all times.I would go there to skate. I would not host a gathering there.

Three stars because this rink falls under the "It's good for Cincinnati" category.I've been here several times before, and coming from the south, I expected the facilities up north for an ice skating rink to be leaps and bounds beyond what I grew up with. Unfortunately, either the sports are not popular in the area, or there just aren't enough people to support a better facility, Northland Ice Skating is just OK.Pricing -- the prices are decent, it's $7 for general admission for public ice skating, which is considered a fair price. For comparison, I'm used to paying $6~$7, and there usually is a charge for shoe rental. However, I have my own skates so I am not a particular fan of supporting the cost of rental when generally it's additional charge, but it's still not a bad deal for sure. Except......the rink is small. Their public skate times are awkward, and they float around their other schedules for hockey, private ice skating sessions, games, etc. Public ice skating is only available 1-3 pm on the weekdays, 8-10 on fri and sat, 2-4 on sat and sun. And sometimes, especially in the summer, they will randomly not open so you have to call in advance to make sure they're still on for public skate. The weekend times are fine, but I wish they had more accessible times during the week. All it means is that I can only go on the weekends, and usually I have other plans! The worst though, is that they do NOT resurface the ice during the public sessions. There's always tons and tons of people, so the ice gets so bad by about 45 minutes, you can't even skate properly by 1 hour into the session. It gets so bad that there ends up being no point in skating, and my $7 admission fee is wasted since I can really only bare to skate for 1 hour, trying to weave in and out of people who can't really skate and trying to keep my blades from aligning into the deep crevices that have been carved out of the ice's surface. They do have other sessions that you can pay membership fees to use the rink for (you have to pass certain skill levels), which I would gladly do if the ice were in better condition, there were fewer people, and the times were good. But no. I suppose they're aimed at mostly young kids who can go after school, but for someone who is used to waking up early for 5 or 6 AM skate, it's unfortunate that that isn't even an option here.Alas, this is still a good place to go. The prices are decent, there's ample parking, spots to sit and relax, and the fact that it exists is already good. There's definitely room for improvement, but it's still worth the trip to avoid any of the crappy outdoor, seasonal setups in downtown. At least it's close to where I live though!

Best rink in Cincinnati, I have been skating there since I was a little guy. The staff is always friendly helpful, and the ice is great.

This ice rink hasn't changed much since I was a kid, but it is a cheap place to play hockey.

My husband has played drop in here a few time. You need to resurface the ice between sessions. Use water thank you! Also can someone please clean the locker rooms and showers they are always filthy. I'm giving you 2 stars just because we are die hard hockey fans and appreciate having ice time available but seriously clean it up!
