Was greeted and sat right away drinks came out very fast! But that was the last we saw of the waitress for about 45-1 hour! What is going on? Why does bacon and eggs take this long? I could have used some more coffee, I guess this is what other people experience! Sucks to say food was good when it finally came not a bod place to eat

This is the finest sit down restaurant in town. Try Mel's Main Street burger. Two patties with plenty of extras. Easy parking and excellent staff. It's a pleasure to enjoy this hometown cooking in a great atmosphere with plenty of friends. Always a special that includes entree, salad, desert and a drink.

Let me start off by saying that I LOVE small businesses and I LOVEEEE diners and cafes. They're all different and it's just nice to go into a small town restaurant!Me, my one year old son, my father and my husband came to grab lunch at Mel's after a nice day out.I am biracial (black and white) and my husband and father are Caucasian. The moment I walked in, all eyes were on me. We had no greeting which was the least of my problems. We sat at the table near the door.Once we sat down, we were handed menus but not a word was mentioned to us as our waitress spoke with another gentleman she just handed a menu to. I kept using my manners and being respectful to our waitress but she NOT ONCE made eye contact with me or said a single word to me. Only spoke to my husband an father. To the point where she handed us TWO SEPARATE CHECKS BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T EVEN WANT TO TALK TO US LONG ENOUGH TO KNOW WE WERE ON THE SAME TAB!While we were ordering my husband and I heard someone say "I didn't know we served people like that here" and "well we're all republican here." Now I know they cannot manage conversations that are happening while people are enjoying their food but it still made me feel VERY uncomfortable. Our food was okay. I got fish and chips which were pretty bland. No seasoning at all. My husband got BLT wraps and he said they were actually pretty good! My father had the meatloaf and he rated it 8/10. My son had the mini corn dogs and he seemed to like them. Pricing was really decent other than the fact that when we asked for ranch she brought over packets of ranch and failed to ask how much we wanted and also failed to mention there was an extra charge.I will not be returning.I felt discriminated against and that the service was horrible. Your food is not good enough to make up for your bad service.

I have never, ever saw service this bad anywhere else. It wasn't busy, but they had to clear a table. A man cleared the dishes but never wiped the table. A woman brought menus about 10 minutes later, no hi, want anything to drink etc. Other patrons came in, she was friendly with them, got their drinks right away. After about another 10 minutes of no service, the decision was made to leave.

My sister and I stopped in here for a bite of lunch. The food was so good. She had the potato soup and grilled cheese special and I had a burger and cottage cheese. The service was quick and friendly. Small town diner for the win!! Oh...and this wall mural was right close by.

Get the sweet tea, it's the best. Bacon double cheeseburger was good. Glad I got a double cause the burgers were thin. Lots of fries. Meatloaf was on the dry side. I'd get gravy on it next time. Macaroni salad was delish! Homemade perfection.

We stopped here as a respite from our long Buckeye Trail hike. The restaurant was welcoming, the staff friendly and discrete (we were odd looking with our hiking gear, but narry a question), and the menu short and to the point -- it is a small town diner with a variety of tasty choices. I had a bacon cheeseburger with onion rings. The rings were simply delicious -- really correctly done. The burger was tasty and cooked just right. The meal came in under $10, and that was with drink refills. Hot day or cold, this would be the right place to break your ten mile hike from the Loudon area to Shoemaker State Nature Preserve.

Pretty much your standard small-town country diner. My family tried the fish and chips and daily special meatloaf. Fish and chips were good but not exceptional. I would definitely not recommend the meatloaf. Overall it, was an enjoyable experience with great service! It be great to see more healthy options.

Our family really liked Mel's! The Main Street Grill Burger was great. (Get the single patty with fries for $550.). My father-in-law had an omelette the size of his head! I thought the prices were great. $40 for 6 people, plus tip.

My son and I were in Peebles for the morning so we stopped in for breakfast. It was around 10am and there were only a few people eating when we arrived. The young woman who served us was friendly, took our orders, and a short while later returned with our meals. I had pancakes, eggs and sausage while my son had biscuits and gravy. The pancakes were huge and tasted great. I could only eat about half my breakfast. My son enjoyed his breakfast as well. Several times throughout our visit our server checked in with us to make sure we had everything we needed. As we ate, more people started to arrive and filled in the dining room. At one point our server went out the door in order to help an elderly gentleman with a walker navigate the ramp and door. This is everything that a small town diner should be. I look forward to a return visit when I find myself in the area again.
