Melisa's Family Diner

We came for a quick breakfast before a distillery tour, and this was the perfect little diner. There was pretty limited seating (I think the capacity is around 25-35?), so there were maybe 7-8 booths inside, one two-person booth outside, and then a couple counters to sit at. We found two spots at the blue counter (seated by the homemade carrot cake!) and were asked for our drinks before even sitting down. We loved how quick and friendly the service was here with a couple people always making sure our waters were full and that we were doing okay. The menu for breakfast is pretty simple, but it has all the necessities you would need between eggs, biscuits, pancakes, etc. Looking around, the burger seemed pretty popular too. We ordered Melisa's breakfast and Mamaw's breakfast. We were in and out in about 30 minutes, which was amazing! The food was out so quick. The hash browns were cooked perfectly--not over or undercooked. The bread was well-buttered (coming with two slices cut in halves), eggs scrambled well and not overcooked either. The bacon was a bit crispy for my preference, but that's just me. I was bummed that they stop selling biscuits after 10 or 10:30 (can't remember) because we got there around 11:45 and I had a hankering for biscuits and gravy. Overall we had a pleasant experience and recommend this place!

Got here about 9:30 am on a Thursday. Tight little joint. Few bar stools and limited seating. Service was excellent, constant coffee refills!!! Pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon all great. I wanted a country fried steak but the fryer wasn't turned on yet...I was accommodated and totally worth the wait. The sausage gravy was thick and yummy.

Very nice breakfast area if you're into down home cooking with them with a Kentucky flair; depending on what regulars show up! Don't make a mistake Melissa is the one working right behind the counter except on Fridays. Great place to eat.

Melissa's Special has so many options and Melissa is great too. The biscuits are light and fluffy. Diner food done right with great prices.

Thank you Yelp. We found this place when in town for Bourbon tasting. It's a small place but they are very efficient, with quick and courteous service. Prices are very good and the food is fresh and prepared excellent. I loved the omelettes, home fries and biscuits. Great portion size. Melisa welcomed us out of towners. We loved it so much we went back a second day in a row.

Find true hospitality & kindness at Melissa's diner! It's a local staple plus very welcoming to travelers! The food is excellent - I had the Biscuits & gravy. Biscuits were so light and fluffy! Local recommendation is to add a 'mater and it elevated the dish even better!

It's like eating home cooked breakfast at grandmas house! The biscuits are soooo FLUFFY! Can't wait to go back to try their famous burgers! I would 100% recommend! Melisa is such a kind soul and makes you feel comfortable

Definitely off the beaten path, was for sure a neighborhood favorite. Staff knew so many customers by name and customers all seemed to know each other. We a basics bacon and eggs for breakfast, cook exactly as order and very good. Very friendly staff.

Fantastic little breakfast/lunch spot. When you go into a place like this and the server (Melisa herself in this case) senses your indecision (home fries vs hash browns, "Home fries" she says, then biscuits or toast? "Biscuits" you take the recommendation... so glad I did.A nice find not far from Buffalo Trace if you're looking for breakfast before your bourbon tasting....
