I had heard about Maury's Tiny Cove for years, but had never been. I was between 3 and 4 stars on this one, ultimately went with 4 for the neighborhood impact this restaurant has. This place is a throwback. Not remotely ADA friendly, several steps everywhere in the place. Maury's has been around for 75 years, and I think they are still saving up for their first remodel. Wood paneling, dropped ceiling, cozy rooms. If you tried to imagine what a west side restaurant institution would look like, it's pretty much Maury's. They bring pickles and dinner rolls to start the meal. Unique. They also serve hanky pankys, which I've never seen on a menu anywhere. They were good. Just like you'd expect. Where it went wrong was the entrees. Our waitress guided us to the chicken or salmon, but we were in the mood for a steak. That was probably the wrong choice. My strip was overdone on the outside, and too rare in the middle, and was not a great cut of beef to begin with. The small filet my friend ordered was described as a 'hockey puck'. Our waitress was great. Super helpful and friendly. Clearly, there were lots of people who enjoy Maury's on a regular basis. The food was three stars, but the neighborhood charm earns an extra star for this historic west side institution.

Maury's Tiny Cove is one of the oldest steakhouses in Cincinnati. The restaurant opened in 1949 and not much has changed since then--same decor featuring red and black booths and wood paneling throughout. I believe it is even still the same green paint on the outside of the building with the same sign. Their website says "walking through the door at Maury's is like traveling through a time portal to the 1950's," and I would have to agree.Menu doesn't appear to have changed much either. A must-have though is the retro appetizer, Hanky Panks. Not because they are so delicious, but because when you step back into the 1950s in Cincinnati, Hanky Pankies are a must-have with cocktails. The odd appetizer is basically a mix of Velveeta cheese and sausage melted and served hot atop party-size pumpernickel bread. While it is a steakhouse, we decided on the Chicken Picatta and pork chops. If we go back, we will try the French onion soup.

First time here and was looking forward to dinner. We loved the ambiance. It stopped there. Wine list was limited and driven by price and didn't have a decent rated wine in the reds.Dinner was fair with my soup and salad served at the same time. The salad was like coleslaw from a bag and my blue cheese dressing wasn't very good. My wife liked their house dressing. The French onion soup wasn't the best I've had but of all my meal, was the best of it.My wife had the strip which looked like a butt steak on her plate and was over seasoned in spots with pepper. She thought the spinach and noodles were OK but nothing special.I had the large cut of prime rib which was a nice portion and cooked as requested but was tough and flavorless. My biggest complaint was when the main course was served our soup and salad plates hadn't been picked up and the server was really in a pickle not knowing what to do. He finally managed to take a few of the plates away but not all of them, and those sat there until after the check was paid. Were never in a hurry for our meal so the timing of our waitress as fine but the way the food was served and the plates not being picked up is a management training issue. Pricing was overall on the inexpensive side but the sacrifice of service and quality of my meal is more important than the check.Sorry- not a recommendation to stop here.

We had a great experience! Went on a Saturday, service and food were prompt. Got a strip and chop, both cooked well. French onion was good! Overall, good vibes, food and price.

Where to begin? We've been wanting to come here for a long time, but just never had the time. Today we finally made the trek and it was 100% not worth it. Granted, we did not have reservations, but there were only two of us. As we waited for a table, we watched the bartender accidentally spill a whole bottle of bourbon into the ice well and he and about 3 other waitresses watched it pour in and kept serving ice from the well into all the drinks, including water glasses. That was really something. The wait was about 10 minutes, little did we know that was the least we would wait for anything all night. After being seated, it took 20 mins for someone to take our drink order. One beer and one glass of wine took another 20 mins to arrive. Then, we waited another 20 mins before our order was taken. My fiancé asked for the slaw as a side and was told " I wouldn't order that tonight, it's not looking very good" , by the waiter. Legit hilarious. Again, Little did we know it would take OVER AN HOUR for anyone to acknowledge us again. No bread, no pickles, no water, not even a " sorry it's taking so long". Once the food arrived it was decent, but we honestly thought the experience was a joke. The table next to us with young children and older grandparents were even more livid than us as their wait seemed to be even longer. I hate giving negative reviews because I know how difficult the food industry can be, but this was just a terrible overall experience. Not sure I'd even be willing to give it another try.

We have had this place on our list for awhile, now that we've gone, I doubt we'll be back. The atmosphere is homey, straight out of the seventies, which is a fun throwback. I tried the pickle martini, a house speciality, it was nice and cold but needed more pickle flavor. Luckily, they start you with a small bowl of pickles with the rolls, so I dumped some of that pickle juice in my drink. We started with the hanky panks, which ended up being the highlight of the meal. I had the petite filet, and it was meh. It was overcooked and not juicy at all. The side salad was decent. Our server was really nice and provided helpful feedback on what to order.

I've never heard of Maury's until recently my Mr started to see a post on instagram that amazed him and wanted me to check it out. Also a friend of mine also did a post of it and it made me want to visit this restaurant more. What drew me in was the nostalgia and everything in the building is original decor and furniture. I also couldn't believe the pricing on the menu. It was ridiculously reasonable and had a good selection of everything. WARNING: Must make reservations. Even if it's on a slow day on a Monday. They are always booked and even their bar area requires reservations. No walk ins. My Mr was smart to book ours a month in advance. You walk in and it reminds me of a Speakeasy. Very small but has alot to offer. It's dimmed but I can tell they keep the place extra clean. No dust in site. They do have an upstairs for dining and bigger parties. Our hostess was Sara Lee and she was so down to earth and helpful. We started off with complimentary homemade rolls and pickles. Wow! What place does this? That's the best starter! Who would've thought this combination?! Brilliant!! And it was delish. We ordered:-Cyclone: Fresh grilled Salmon marinated in bourbon, soy and brown sugar with a side of baked potato-The Cavalier: 12 oz. New York strip cooked medium with a side of salad (blue cheese dressing) and baked potato.-Bottle of Cecchi Sangiovese Toscana 2021Okay... everything was perfect! My salmon was flavorful and the wine paired well with it. I had some of my Mr's steak. The best New York strip I've ever had. The broccoli and baked potato -simple yet it was cooked just right and not salty/overcooked.The service was excellent. These servers don't mess around. They are SUPER attentive, friendly and all worked very hard. You can tell. Everyone looked happy.I have to say that this is the only place I will make the far drive to on the West Side. I am never in this area. West siders should be very proud and lucky they have Maury's. You can tell the clientele are all locals. I truly loved the feel and that it's very laid back. You don't have to be super dressed up to come to a nice restaurant. Honestly, if you'd asked for my opinion, I like it way better here than Jeff Ruby's. It's the vintage setting, food, setting is laid back, excellent service, and cheap pricing? All that in one? Who wouldn't want that? I can't wait to tell all my friends about this place! We are definitely returning..... very soon!

Took my parents here for thier 50th anniversary as this was a place they went to when they started dating... welll.... this place was absolutely atrocious. From the service to the time it took to get someone to take our order to the food. It took them over an hour to take our order just for appetizers, and those took an hour to arrive. After we had to chase someone down and figure out what's going on. Then they didn't even bring plates for appetizers. It was over 2 hours from sitting down that 2 meals came out all while everyone else's food still took another 30-45 minutes before the rest of the food came out minus one family member who ended up with a to-go box because the food came out so late. Most of the steaks ordered were dry, half fat and lukewarm at best, salmon was dry and portion was ridiculously small- you could eat it in 3-4 bites... the garden salad was just lettuce out of a bag, Ceasar salad was mostly croutons that you had to search for the lettuce. Mozzarella sticks were store bought, marinara was just tomato juice.Multiple issues were brought up to a so called manager "Mathew", who showed no concern or empathy about anything. This dinner was all pre-arrange before to make things go as sooth as possible. Issues were made even worse as we were they only party there 2 hours into our so called dinner.I have been on a naval ship moths into a deployment with no resupply that had better food and service than what I recieved here. I could have served more people better, faster and made to order on a grill in my backyard better... one star, is just one star too many.
