You need to try Copacabana Bowl.I just got back from Brazil, and this place is just as good. San Juan mofongo is extremely tasty, bro.

Run to Element Eatery and MashRoots while the weather is still beautiful. I wish I remembered to take a pic of the food before I ate it, but here we are. No food pics bc it was so good that it is gone. We came for Brazilian appreciation night and the atmosphere was amazing. I ordered the Latin plate which was combo of different items. They were all great and incredibly delicious. It was more food than I could eat but everything was so delicious. I'm so full. Don't forget the brigadieros for dessert! They had samba dancers for the Brazilian night and they were so entertaining. The littles were so cute. What a good job!

We were looking for a place to eat after visiting the William Howard Taft National Historic Site and stumbled upon the Element Eatery food hall. We're big fans of mofongo, a dish we first discovered only a couple of years ago, but is now something we cook ourselves on occasion. MashRoots seemed by far the most interesting stand in the food hall and we made that our first choice. We decided at first to just get the classic and only afterwards see if we wanted to try anything else.Old San Juan, Grande ($14.99) - This is a bowl of mofongo with pulled pork, cole slaw, and a mayo/ketchup mixture that resembles thousand island on the top. They give a ton of meat in this dish - way too much in my opinion. It's like a bowl of meat with the mofongo as a small side. The mashed plantains form only a thin layer along the bottom and sides of the bowl. A major problem I found is that the mofongo is extremely mushy from soaking in a cup of soup at the bottom of the bowl. I wonder if the meat is stored in a metal tray in its own juices, then they scoop it up, including all the juices, and dump it on top of the thin monfongo base layer. If there was more plantain at the bottom then it might be able to absorb the meat liquid and help meld the flavors. Unfortunately in this rendition everything is way too liquidy and the dish is like eating a pile of slop. The meat is fine; pretty tender and obviously moist from the juices. The cabbage and carrot slaw on the top adds some crunch and the mayo/ketchup sauce on the top adds sweetness and acidity. The major problem is the monfongo, which I came here specifically to get. It is some of the worst I have ever had. (2/5)After this mishap, we decided not to get anything else at MashRoots and instead go to a different stall for food. Such a disappointment.

Delicious!! So happy with the BYOB mofongo bowl (also generally so excited to have this meal close by, as I discovered my love for it when visiting PR for the first time a few years ago) which allowed for a customization of the perfect combination - plantains and black beans! Also highly recommend the coconut lemonade. I could drink this every day!!!

This was our second time trying mashroots and enjoyed our experience more this time around! We were able to make a menu bowl 'who dey' veggie version with plantains instead of chicken which was delish. The sauce on top was also really good! Also tried the fried cheese balls with spicy guava sauce which was really tasty!Element eatery makes it really convenient you can order food from any stall from your phone and then pick up when ready!

This is my second time dining at MashRoots. The first time was for the Empanadas. I got both the beef and cheese. The sauces I chose for dipping is the Garlic Cilantro and Avocado Lime. Both were delish and addicting. Now we're back and chose this place for the Cincy Burger Week special. My Mr and I wanted to try both so we got the Puerto Rican and Classic burger. With extra sides of sweet potato and yuca fries. And that's not it, can't leave without my empanadas. Which I got the cheese and beef again! Same dipping sauces that I got last time but added their signature BBQ sauce for the yuca fries. I was going to get some dessert but knew I would be full off all the foods we ordered. Got our meal and I was in heaven with the Puerto Rican burger. The sauce on the sandwich was boss! The yuca and sweet potatoes fries were bomb. And of course the empanadas are always on fire. There is so much on their menu I want to try. They have bowls, Cuban sandwiches, chicken fingers, salads and they even do catering! This is my go to place for Latin street food. They are good at what they do!

My lady and I wanted to go to a place that was participating in Cincinnati Burger week, so we looked at all the options (over 100), and thought Mashroots looked the most intriguing. Plus we really like Element Eatery, so it gave us a good excuse to go back. Mashroots' menu isn't huge but has a great selection. They have street food options for appetizers, nice burger options, and mofongo bowls, along with a few tasty dessert choices. For Cincinnati Burger Week, they had their Puerto Rican Burger (angus patty, cheddar cheese, sweet plantain, crispy plantain sticks, mayoketchup) plus a classic burger (angus patty, lettuce, tomato, onion, cheddar cheese, mayoketchup) for $7 each. We decided to get one of each and split 'em along with some yuca fries, sweet potato fries, and two empanadas (one beef and one cheese). It was a busy Friday evening, so a wait was pretty much expected, but I think we may gave only waited 15 for our food, which was fine by me since they were pretty busy too. Everything was really good too. My only gripe was with the cheese empanada, because it was lacking a bit in the cheese, and seemed rather hollow inside. The Puerto Rican burger was excellent and went VERY well with the yuca fries (and they were thick cut like steak fries, which was my personal favorite kind of fries). We didn't have room for dessert, but definitely next time. This is a great little spot that adds a unique element to Element Eatery. I could certainly recommend giving it a shot and we'll absolutely go again.

I've been wanting to try MashRoots for a while now so I was excited to hear it was coming to Element Eatery. I have friends who has raved about this restaurant so I had high expectations. I got the copacabana bowl and yuca fries with the cilantro garlic sauce on the side for dipping. The sauce was incredible! Honestly the best thing there. The fries were also good - crunchy outside and soft inside for an ideal fry.The bowl was good also, and I thought it was unique that it came on a bed of mashed yuca root. The flavors were decent but nothing mind blowing, and I thought it was a small sized bowl for the price. Overall I thought it was tasty but wouldn't go out of my way to return.

Tried a little of everything. I got the beef empanadas, Mofongo bowl (who Dey), Coxinha ( cheese croquette), sweet plantains, and fried cheese balls. I loved the empanadas and Coxinha by far the best. The empanadas are juicy and hot make sure you get at least 3 they are a little smaller than I had hoped. Service was good, no issues there. The restaurant was like a large food court,a lot of different food options. They had a bar inside and outdoors they had some event going on with live music and beer garden. Plenty of outdoor seating. Definitely going to go back soon. I forgot to take pictures just living in the moment.
