Absolutely delicious authentic Mexican cantina. Makes the tacos you get at the bell an absolute joke.Never would I have ventured here on my own. I came only after seeing a coworker scarf down 3 tacos from Maranata last week. Came here with my wife and we had the best lunch. Employees were extremely nice to us as they could tell it was out first time here.Attached to the restaurant is a Mexican food grocery and convenient store.I recommend this hidden cubby if your in the mood for true Mexican food.

I have driven past this taqueria/carnicería twice a day on my way to/from work since I started working over on the Westside and had never stopped in. Yet, one day when I drove by I knew I had to get some serious Mexican food - and when I walked in I knew this was the spot. There is the most incredible smell before you even hit the door, and when you get through the entryway you find a grocery store loaded up with everything you could want to cook and include in a meal from south of the border. But what if you just want to eat? What if you don't need some eclectic candies and spices? Or, even better - what if you want some meat to cook yourself? You go on to the left and walk up to the deli counter!Ordering two dinners (one for me and one for my girlfriend), I got grilled chicken and steak, each dish had options for rice and beans, so I just decided to do a full sample of basically everything so we could each try what they offer. So by the end we had white rice with various veggies (which seemed to come from just a random bag of frozen vegetables, there were lima beans, broccoli, cauliflower, corn) and spanish rice, Black and pinto beans, two giant chunks of each type of meat, two halves of a potato, and 6 corn tortillas each dinner.... As you can tell these were GIANT take out containers. I think they would have broken in half if I didn't support them on the bottom, these things were LOADED. I'll be honest... I combined all the sides together, mixed them up, and we ended up getting two meals a piece out of all this food. I wish I had thought to snap a picture of all of it before we started digging in, but I managed to set aside the meat, take a look at that if you want to get hungry. So then how was it?Absolutely delicious! The chicken and potatoes had so much seasoning on them that I honestly thought the potatoes were sweet potatoes because they were so orange. Fortunately the seasoning was INCREDIBLE, there was spice, there was flavor, and it was all harmonious. The meat was cooked about perfectly (I think the steak was a little fatty so it could have been cooked longer to try and drip some of that off), and the tortillas tasted like they might have actually been home-made, not the uniform shapes and thickness of a factory press. I LOVE Mexican food, I could eat it every single day. But it's hard for me to be truly impressed, I mean even bad Mexican is still pretty good, like have you ever had an awful taco? I don't think they exist. This place though, this place reminds you that Mexican food can go beyond "not bad." Don't believe me? Swing by with a $20 and get 4 meals, a ton of starches, and a new addiction.

Best kept secret on the westside and in Cincinnati. If your caught up in decor then this isn't the place. But far as portions and quality this is the spot.

Great place; worth the wait no matter the line... the lines there because the food is amazing. Best tacos and best fish tacos in Cincinnati hands down. Justine Y. Doesn't know what she's taking about or missing. Five stars through and through!

Possibly the best fish tacos in town. Don't let the modest, storefront, unglamorous facade throw you off -- inside, it's a market, a butcher shop, a fishmonger and yes a restaurant. Ample street parking, very fair prices, pleasant and capable staff, the place seems yet another wonderful example of immigrant success in America. I can't wait to return to Price Hill for the roast chicken or some other traditional meal.

Best tacos I've had in Cincinnati! After several recommendations from friends, I finally checked out Maranata for the first time last week. We got chicken and steak tacos to go. Made very quickly. There's a delightful cole slaw-like topping on the tacos. We topped off our dinner with a few half-liter bottles of Mexican Coke. The store also has a great selection of produce and soccer jerseys.

My husband and I have eaten here several times. I usually like it, it is hit or miss on the quality of the food. If you come later in the evening things tend to have been sitting around. With that being said, we had one absolutely horrible experience, one that leads me to believe we won't ever be back. We came in on a Sunday. It was super busy. I managed to grab two seats in the corner while my husband went to order. He comes back to our table which hasn't been wiped down, which I assumed would eventually be done so I waited patiently. The woman carrying out food passes us several times and the teenager who appears to be in charge of cleaning the tables never makes an attempt to wipe anything down. At this point it's been 10 minutes, no drinks and still a dirty table. 15 minutes goes by and my husband gets up to ask the manager to bring our drinks while we wait, finally he snags the woman bringing food on the way back to ask her to clean the table which she motions the teenager to do so. 25 minutes goes by, no food in sight. 30 minutes goes by, and my husband asks the manager what's going on? Finally his food comes out at the 35 minute mark, mine is no where to be found. Finally I see my food come out of the kitchen and walk right passed me to the table of gentlemen who just walked in 5 minutes ago. My husband is irate at this point, as am I. The manager scolds the waitress, and my food comes out at about the 45 minute mark. My food finally arrives, steak is good but everything else absolutely lacks seasoning. Finally, we've been in this place over an hour, we go to pay. No apology, no trying to make amends for the horrible service, and the icing on the cake? An almost $45 bill in a hole in the wall with bland food that takes 45 minutes to bring a bowl of soup and a steak plate. We won't ever eat there again. Bad service and the food is only tolerable. My husband and I both speak Spanish, so there wasn't any miscommunication and we both enjoy taquerías, so I don't expect it to be a high class joint, but lack of common decency is not acceptable.

We love Mexican restaurants and have frequented probably every one in Cincinnati. This one is so incredibly good that I hesitate to recommend it. Thought about keeping it our secret, but that wouldn't be fair. It is so much better and cheaper than every other Mexican restaurant that we've been to that it's almost like night and day. We've been to Mexico about a dozen times in the last few years and it compares to the very finest restaurants down there. Just can't believe that it's here! We're going again tonight!
