It was very crowded yet the service was very good. However, our entrees arrived so fast that we'd not yet finished our very good house salads.Our entrees were too salty especially my lasagna. I should've complained and exchanged for something without that marinara sauce but the waitress didn't stop back for 10-15 minutes and I'd already picked at the stack.We mentioned on our way out to a manager. Now we remember why we couldn't remember how many years ago we were last there.Less salt and more herbs is our suggestion.There are salt and pepper shakers on the tables.

Highly recommend a reservation as this place is rather small and fills up quickly. The menu has a good variety, with all the classic Italian dishes. We ordered the fettuccine alfredo with chicken and a chicken parmesan. Dishes are on the pricier side (~$30) but the portions are pretty large -- expect to take half home with you. This always kind of baffles me because I would much rather pay half the price for a regular portion. The chicken parmesan was good. The biggest turn off, which I understand is weird and I'm guessing this may be just a unique one off, but when I went to cut the chicken, the fork and the plate created a nails on a chalkboard sound and sensation. I readjusted the fork several different times, but any time it touched the plate it would create this sensation. I've cut hundreds of meals before in the same way and never had this happened, so I'm wondering whatever kind of wear and tear was on the fork and the plate in combination must've led to this cringy sound. I understand this probably sounds crazy but it was a huge turn off. The chicken alfredo was extremely rich so be ready for that. We also ordered two cheesecake slices to go and those were probably the highlight of the meal. But again, it is on the pricier side and we walked out spending over $100 for two people without getting any drinks. I have no problem spending this in the right setting, but the ambience didn't match the bill and for that reason, we won't be back.

Unarguably Dayton's best Italian restaurant... Mamma D's has been in business for almost 50 years and it's not hard to see why... The food is phenomenal and it's your classic family owned/operated Italian restaurant - Bobby, Shari, and Vinny have done a great job keeping the family traditions alive. If you like authentic Italian with NYC Little Italy vibes, Mamma D's is the place to be.P.S. They're known for their red sauce and meatballs, so be sure to try... You won't be disappointed.

Just the best. We've been coming here for 50 years. Calamari, salad with house, bread! Order anything you think sounds good and it will be magnificent. Staff is fabulous. A real gem, that Mama Disalvo's!
