Clean large well maintained park. But only try the mountain bicycle trails if you are very experienced. Steep rocky roots. Two creek crossing. Great area.

I happened to stumble upon this park as I was picking up a few items in the Westchester area. I had a friend mention this park to me a few weeks before I decided to check it out. I just happen to pass the sign for the park, so I decided to head out for an adventure. It had just rained before I visited this park, so the trails were slightly muddy. I would love to go back once all the leaves and bushes are full of their green leaves and when the trail is not slippery wet and muddy. However, I happened to see some people trail running, as I was exploring. This would be a great place to do that!According to the map next to one of the trails I was exploring, it looks like there is about a 2 mile loop that crosses over the creek in two spots. You can walk this, hike it, or even decide to run the path. There are multiple entrances down to the trail. I ended up taking a muddy downhill to the creek, but as I begin walking, I realized that there were other places that led to the creek that had a set of stairs. If you are exploring and don't see a great way to get down to the creek, look around for an easier access. There are plenty! This park also has a beautiful amphitheater. It would be the perfect place to have a summer show or sit to enjoy a concert in the park. I did see a family with small children riding their bikes. They were a bit disappointed to discover that the trail was not suited for bikes. If you are looking to bike, I would not pick this specific park. However, if you are looking for a nice walk or a not too difficult hike, this park is for you!

Keehner Park is pretty nice. While the trails here aren't as well-maintained as those in Sharon Woods Park, they are definitely a lot closer to being natural. For example, we came here a couple of days after a particularly violent storm. As we started down a trail, we noticed the following:A). The trails were very muddy (duh). The reason why this is noteworthy is because many parks pave their trails with stones, gravels, pebbles, concrete, or even asphalt.B). There were fallen trees blocking the trails. The reason why this is noteworthy is because many other parks tend to clean their trails immediately so that visitors can walk around unhindered. We don't consider this a bad thing because in nature, no one cleans up. So hiking here provides a more authentic experience.C). A stream runs through this park. As you hike deeper into the woods, you'll come across the stream. There are people who actually swim in there. Some amenities of this park include an amphitheater, though it looks seldom used. It has a baseball field. There's ample parking, with trail heads around every parking lot.Overall, definitely wear something mud-proof if you want to hike.

This park is nice, but there isn't a lot to do. There are small playgrounds and many picnic areas, but that is about it!

The hidden gem of the park is the network of creekside trails. Recommended!

Awesome neighborhood park. It is not meant to be a full service food, boating, golf course, etc park like Sharon Woods so I wouldn't compare it to that like the previous reviewer. The walking trails in the woods close to the amphitheater are well maintained with ground up Christmas trees and wide paths, but the longer 2.5 mile loop is more rustic because it is primarily designed for mountain biking (by the West Chester Cyclery). Also, the amphitheater is used weekly in the summer for concerts, movies and plays. I go weekly with a hiking group year round and we love the natural setting it provides as a getaway from daily busy life. The hills, trees, and creeks with small waterfalls along the mountain bike trail are beautiful. We love that it is mostly untouched and that it's not overly crowded. My only suggestion is that they map out their trails somewhere (perhaps clean up the spray painted trail signs). I have thought of doing this myself many times.

I have fond memories of Keehner Park. My dad played in a softball league that had games on Keehner's two baseball diamonds for years while I was growing up. There are little soccer fields at Keehner too, often times you'll see LSO or CYO games in progress. There isn't anything particularly remarkable about Keehner. It has plenty of green space for frolicking, picnic shelters that I've visited for a number of summer family gatherings, and an amphitheater that occasionally hosts small orchestra concerts and theater productions. Keehner features mountain bike trails through the forest behind the athletic fields and amphitheater. I have never been back there but I have heard that the trail isn't very well maintained. Keehner offers a playground but it's not nearly as nice or extensive as the one at Sharon Wood's.
