JJ 's Fish and Chicken

I've never had a bad meal or bad service in JJ's. My husband always agrees when I suggest dinner here.

I went in here last week to grab lunch real quick. It was the first time I had ever been in the restaurant where I threw the food away after a couple bites. I asked for hot fries, of course they were lukewarm. And the fish tasted bad. I'm not sure I can ever go back to this location again!

Ordered whiting, catfish, Mac & cheese, and hush puppies for lunch today. I'm nuts about these hush puppies. Everything was really good.

Decent. I suggest calling in your order and picking it up in the drive thru. Catfish nuggets are good. Fried chicken tenders are seasoned well and are huge. A dinner order of 6 pcs will feed 3 people. Cole slaw is good. Comes in a very tiny cup so ask for an extra when ordering a dinner plate. Side order of hush puppies were also tasty. Fries weren't good. Lacked flavor and were over cooked. Especially since they are placed in the same container with hot fish & chicken.

Chicken wings are great. I recommend trying the southwest egg rolls. Gyro is huge and has tons of flavor.

Kinda upset that I worked right by the place, but had never been. Because. MmmmmMmmmmn. GOOD! Although, I've only been once...I will be back again and again. (With or w/o the guy that introduced me 2 this treasure). We each got the catfish nugget meal. BOMB!!! Each catfish nugget was a party in my mouth.Perfectly breaded. Not heavy and thick; which I despise in fried fish. But, not at all scant, sparse, or falling off the fish, either. The texture was crisp, light, not at all greasy, and best of all, a "cornmeal breading", my FAVE!The portion was super generous. Fries were ur basic "fried fish meal" fries, but...they were sprinkled w this magical seasoning.--Think salt, meets lemon pepper, w/a fairy dusting of sugar. I think a fairy works in the kitchen, FR.‍I normally don't eat the bootleg, "wonder" bread w/fried fish meals, not because I'm scurred of carbs...it's just not something I ever want. However, I ate both slices...so, I can tell u, the catfish makes 4 a good fried fish sandie w/tartar and hot sauce, but is better on it's own. Def try it both ways, 2 find out which u prefer. As 4 the coleslaw, that came w the meal, it was perfectly average, setting the meal off w crisp, fresh, mayo(y), sweetness. I can't wait 2 go back here! We're going back on Monday, and I'm counting my "sleeps". I think maybe I'll make it my mission 2 try (mostly) every meal on the menu. Cuz, I goal SO hard.So, hey! Stop reading this & go enjoy this gem in the gem city.But, DON'T ask 4 extra hot sauce.‍ 3.5 stars

I love these guys so I haven't tried anything else but I order the chicken gizzards every time. My first time I ordered the large because gizzards are my favorite. THE BOX COULDN'T EVEN SHUT!! The food was amazing!! Their seasoning is the best and the breading for the gizzards is better than Lee's or anywhere else I've tried. Service is fast, guys are fun and friendly and delicious HUGE portions. I always order the regular order of gizzards now for $4.99; comes with fries (seasoned) gizzards (seasoned) toast and one side of slaw, heavy on the seasoning. Great...now I'm hungry lol

A good hole in the wall. The food was good and it was inexpensive. The customer service could have been better, but you get what you pay for. Also the appearance of the restaurant could use some improvement. I would suggest taking your food to-go. There were no high cheers for my baby. Not to mention it looked as though the lobby hadn't been really CLEANED in a few days.

Outstanding fried fare. The shrimp is enormous, spiced delightfully. The gyros sandwich was also huge and had a more delicate cucumber and onion taziki sauce than some places. The french fries had a great dry sprinkle that complimented the food perfectly. There are apparently FIVE locations and here is their website: WWW.jjfishandchickenofdayton.com. recommend. Not sure if they take cards though, so bring cash. No bathroom on site either.

Can't find better chicken in the city. I also would say the gyro are great as while and you can go wrong w they extra sides they have pies and cake always great !!!Definitely recommend getting xtra seasoning on everything it's so delicious!
