Jim's is a gem my kids used to go to school across the street so we stopped in early in the morning often for breakfast before school. Their donuts are absolutely fresh and amazing. My dad loved their H U G E apple fritters. I don't eat donuts anymore but when I did, their raspberry filled powdered donut slapped BUT what I do come to Jim's for almost daily is the coffee! They have a bunch of different flavors but only one matters to me (Highlander Grogg) and it's REAL DRIP coffee. Everywhere has gone to those nasty auto brew machines that just taste burnt and bitter--not Jim's and of course, the ladies that work here are all so friendly and know how to treat people. If you love a good ole fashioned donut shop--definitely come into Jim's Donut Shop

This place makes some fantastic donuts. I stopped here open a whim. As soon as you step out of your car, all you can smell is fresh donuts, and that's at 1pm.The donuts are huge too.Only reason I rated 4 stars, the coffee left much to be desired. But the donuts make up for it.The girl who helped me was very nice too. Gave me her recommendations since I was having trouble choosing.

Grabbed a dozen donuts and some coffee while my dad was visiting. I had heard good things so I was really excited to try some donuts. Service was quick and the people behind the counter were pleasant. The donuts that I did try were tasty. I am not a big donut person but these were pretty good. They have a bunch of flavored hot coffee and I tried the chocolate raspberry coffee. The coffee was okay, I probably would get coffee from somewhere else the next time I drop in but it is nice they have it as a beverage option.

Pickup some donuts after dropping a loved one off at the airport. Coming from centerville I usually only ever get bills but these were delicious! If I didn't live far this would be my go to donut place.

Not good. Cake donuts were soggy on the bottom, long John tasted like it had been thawed from frozen. The cinnamon roll was raw on the inside. This shop had definitely dropped in quality since we last visited 3 years ago.

We stopped in on a Monday because it was only about 15 minutes away from the doctors. We bought 7 items, 4 different types. Nothing was fresh. Everything was dry and not good. I've been to bakeries where everything is fresh and I've worked in bakeries. These items were old, dry, and terrible. The Persians were huge but the worst I've ever had. They were just so dry. The Long John was not in the display case but when we ask if they had any she said they have one left and pulled it from behind her. It was small, didn't have much icing but the person eating it actually thought they accidentally got one without filling as some bakeries offer with or without filling. At the very last by she had a small bit of cream. She said only a fourth of it had cream in it and it was just a small amount. She also said it was dry and not fresh. The cream horns were the least awful thing but they definitely weren't fresh... The cream just countered the dryness a little bit better than some of the other items. Then we got something that looked like a huge turnover. The lady asked us if we wanted apple or cherry and we said cherry. She also referred to it as a turnover. It was very poofy in the center, we hoped with filling and it was triangular shaped. We didn't attempt to eat that until the next day and when we cut into it we discovered it was Apple. So I call to let them know about the mistake. Most places are apologetic and when they make a mistake they not only make the mistake right but they give you a little extra to show that they're sorry and that they realize making you come back waste time and gas as well as it's a hassle and it should have never happened. Not jim's! She told me I can come and exchange it for a cherry one. I told her that it is 28 minutes one way and that we only stopped because it wasn't that far from chemotherapy. She then tells me that I can come the next day at 7:00 a.m. . When I ask to speak with the owner she said no and that I could speak with the manager at 7:00 a.m. the next day. She didn't give me a range of times. I go to bed anywhere between 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. so 7:00 a.m. is not a good time for me. She also told me I need to bring the apple one back. That's understandable because people could just lie to get a free item but again they can offered me something in addition even if it's small because quite honestly it wasn't worth the gas money to even do this but my family member really wanted a Cherry turnover. I also thought that because I told them of the mistake they might make some fresh. I did not even get a hint that they care about their customers. When I show up the next day I hand her the box and tell her I was supposed to get cherry and needed to exchange it. She said, you're in luck... You got the last cherry! We didn't attempt to eat it until later that night. But when I opened the box it was not the same thing. This one had a straight edge and the other edge was rounded. It was also a lot flatter. This is something they call a fry pie. I decided to be okay with that even though I thought they must all be idiots that work there. We cut it down the center and oh my God it was Apple again! How can they mess up that badly? Also you would think that since I called to tell them of the situation they would have put one aside knowing I was coming in to exchange it or make more and have plenty. Nope! Not Jim's. So the next day I go yet again. I told them this is my third time asking for a big Cherry turnover and I've been given Apple twice now. I also explained how they gave me a fry pie the second time. They just looked at each other then said we don't have any right now. I said can I please just have my money back? I told them everything was dry that we got and nothing was fresh. They were not pleasant in the least but I did get my money back. I don't know if the original owner Jim is still alive but if he's dead he must be rolling in his grave for what they've done to this place. They used to have really good donuts. I don't know why the overall reviews are still decent unless it's friends and family helping them out or loyal fans that have lost their taste bud or are nostalgic ... Or maybe they're just local and know to scope things out carefully for the stuff that's been recently made. That still doesn't help with the lack of cream. Krogers is right up the road and is cheaper. You know Kroger's is getting fresh stuff everyday because they box up their donuts every night and discount them.

What is going on with the Boston Creme doughnuts. I got some a few months ago and there was hardly any filling and hardly any frosting. I thought it was just a bad day, but I got some again today, and the same thing, very little filling and hardly any frosting. Are they cutting corners or just getting lazy?
