Hunan Bistro

First time we came loved it. It seems each time we come it gets worse. Today everything was too spicy to eat and I brought a guest so it was regrettable. She took 1 bite of the hot and sour and was done. The flavors were wrong. The candy at the end was even bad. Doubt I will be back.

Ate here for lunch with wife. We were about the only people dining in--looked like most of their business was carryout. Despite having white tablecloths, the prices here are surprisingly reasonable. Lunch specials which include rice, egg roll AND soup were only 8 bucks--it doesn't get any better than that. Everything we had was great. Service was friendly. It seemed a little different here because no one came to the table with a bill--you just go to the register in the back and they tell you what you owe. Hope to visit here again when we're in this area.

This restaurant is a diamond sitting in an ugly strip mall. Listen: deal with the badly designed parking lot and get in here for major deliciousness! My first visit was take out, then returned to dine in.It's lovely inside. Comfortable seating and really spacious. You'll be greeted right away and you can pick your seat and they will wait on you. There is also a cozy little sitting area by the counter if you are doing takeout and need to wait.Staff seems to be small as in one immediate family but they do a great job, including special requests (hold the broccoli!) and answering all your questions about their offerings.When it comes to Chinese food, I want the authentic stuff with minimal if any Americanized treatment. I'm looking for hot chili oil, Szechuan peppers, unique and exotic flavor combos, plenty of mouth-numbing heat, and soft, tender meats. So happy to report, you will find those here. Don't miss the Red Oil Chao Shou app which is steamed wontons in hot chili oil with just a hint of sweetness. Liked it so much, got a second order to go. Orange Chicken was fantastic, intense flavor, and Szechuan Beef was perfect. High points for the Curry Chicken as well.The earlier menu photos showed me Sesame Cold Noodles on the menu. I headed over there drooling to find that the menu has been revised; it's no longer on there! People weren't ordering it! Oh, the humanity! BUT.... the lovely charming hostess said, "I can make it for you" - JOY. And she did, two times now, and it's off the charts. It's got a nutty vibe and I took medium heat which is underlying and builds as you eat. Wonderful! Highly recommend you get this special order.All in all, complete satisfaction and plan to return.

This is the 3rd time I have eaten here with the same results. The service was great the food could not get any better and the restaurant was spotless tables had cloth table cloth since I am a sloppy eater I was almost ashamed to eat on them only downside was the parking lot which was none of their fault. It is a hidden gem in Middletown behind Burger King. I will be back

I came here for lunch and had vegetable chicken lunch with egg drop soup and crab Rangoon all for under $10. Service was great and I had complementary hot tea and ice water. I will be back.

We had lunch at Hunan Bistro today and left very happy. Lunch includes soup so I ordered won ton and it was actually the best I've ever had! Sweet and sour chicken with fried rice and crab Rangoon followed. Everything was delicious and hot. We drank the whole pot of tea because it was so good. Thanks for a great lunch at a decent price too! Service was prompt and pleasant.

Hubby & I stopped in for a late lunch. It was right at 3:00 & they graciously allowed us to order from the lunch specials menu. Hubby ordered Stir Fried Beef with green onions. His meal came with steamed rice, an egg roll & egg drop soup. I got Mongolian Beef which came with steamed rice, an egg roll and sweet & sour soup. The food came out quickly & was steaming hot. Both soups were excellent. The egg rolls were pretty much just cabbage & bland. The rice was cooked just right. I liked the Mongolian Beef but hubby didn't care for his entree. I tasted his & it was meh. Service was very good. I would eat here again.

One of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Middletown. The staff are kind and attentive. The food is amazing and big portion sizes. The restaurant is very nicely decorated.

The food was a little too saucy but the flavors were all good. The location could be better. We ordered Togo so can't comment on the service except that the order was ready on time.
