Horney's Barbecue

To be honest, I came across this place on a road trip with college students and we decided to come here because we thought the name was kind of funny. We were all pleasantly surprised when we had some of the best food we had ever eaten. They had wings and mac and cheese as their specials, and I can say with full honesty those were the best smoked wings I have ever consumed. The brisket I had and mac and cheese were also fabulous--and I am usually very picky about mac and cheese. The welcoming committee also did a phenomenal job, headed by a very kind dog. This place just felt like the epitome of a hidden gem in the country, with super kind staff and quick service. Simply put, I would wholeheartedly recommend Horney's Barbecue to anyone I know!

Just off of Highway 35, we'll worth the stop! Friendly greeting from the owners. Texas style barbecue with brisket and pork. I had the brisket sandwich with barbecue baked beans and coleslaw.The brisket is so tender! I followed up with a the upside down pineapple cake (rich!) Charming and eclectic restaurant environment!

Great food! I love the brisket sandwich and ribs. The mojo red chili slaps! Meat and side availability does dwindle closer to closing time so plan ahead.

Passing through and came across this joint. The low rating is the food was good to eat but didn't really stand out. The ribs had little meat on it. The sides were appetizing and different. The meats were good too. The BBQ sauce was ok. The service is what really top notch. The owner and gal really attended to our questions and needs. If we are in the area we wouldn't mind trying it again.

If you like dried out tough BBQ due to overcookedMeat then look no further this is your joint. I've ate there twice in case the first time was just a "bad day" but both times was like chewing on a huge piece of beef jerky. I will drive to Grove City for BBQ.

Good atmosphere, nice staff, terrible food. I ordered a half slab of ribs, mac & cheese, and potato chips. Honestly the bag of chips was the best thing I had. A quarter of an inch of dry gritty meat and the rest is fat and bone. My friend ordered the brisket and let me try it, and I don't know how you can get meat to taste like water.

Definitely a must stop for the flavor. Real wood smoked bbq Texas style no sauce needed for the flavor. Had the meat sampler (2 Pork Ribs, brisket and smoked sausage and two sides). Money well spent great atmosphere when ordering. Wished I could have sat and enjoyed my meal on site but got there later at almost closing time. Will be coming back for more!

The one and only time we visited for a meal, we discovered that for the not so cheap price, our meals were presented on styrofoam plates with disposable utensils and we had to grab our own drink. BBQ was dry and a tiny portion, roll was pretty tasteless. Not really impressed with what seemed like a church picnic presentation for the price.

Finally! Meat that actually has flavor. As a truck driver I've eaten bbq all around the eastern half of the US and this is some of the best I've had. I always get it with no sauce so I can taste the meat separately. The beef brisket was quite good (forget the sammich, just buy a pound; you'll be glad you did). The pork was tender and moist without being wet like many places I've been to. The smoked wings were my favorite part of the meal. The baked beans were decent, the Mac & Cheese was quite awful, and the BBQ sauce was not at all good (in fairness, I dislike about 75% of the bbq sauces I've had). If they had better sides I would rate it 4 stars.
