Hometown Pizza - Shelbyville

Well we haven't been to Hometown for a few years since we lived in KY. I remember the pizza with the cuppy pepperoni and the lunch buffet in LaGrange a few years ago. We decide to go to this location since we passed it on a road trip and the experience was decent. The waitress seemed to be handling the whole room. The pizza came out timely. The manager greeted us and wished us well when we left.Would probably visit again on our way through again.

My wife went with the spaghetti in red sauce (it's spaghetti). She also chose a huge side salad which she shared with me. While I went with meatballs in red sauce and no crust pizza (yummy).

Good service, foods been as consistent as it could be over all these years. Best pizza in town by far.

We just love this place! Staff (shoutout Jessica and Shaylee) is friendly and helpful with any questions but we go so often that they know our order. Every once in a while we mix it up and order yummy meatballs as an appetizer. Marinara is really good. Best side salad!! Egg, cheese, bacon, tomatoes and potato sticks - enough to split IMO. Patience is sometimes needed as this place gets very busy at times with dine-in and carry-out. It is worth a little wait.

I was told the place was under new ownership and based on my last two visits it shows. The last time I ordered the small hometown lunch special and it barely had any toppings. I didn't say anything. This time I ordered the small hometown special and asked if they could put extra toppings. I got the pizza and it looked like a normal pizza with normal toppings which was fine until I got the bill and was charged and extra $2.50 for extra toppings that I didn't get. The pizza had the toppings a normal pizza would have.

I used to be the biggest Hometown Pizza fan having grown up with it since the mid 80's, but, it sure has gone downhill. The Pizza Salad is no bueno these days. The addition of bacon bits (ugh) and thick chewy white onions. No thanks. And no bread. Bring back the original pizza salad and while you are at it, bring back the original pizza sauce and crust recipes. If not, you're just a regular old Joe.

Several gnats and flies were buzzing around our faces while we were trying to eat. Gnats resting in the wall and booth seats. Food splatter on the bead board in the booth and above the bead board there was additional food splatter to include a piece of napkin about the size of a dime stuck to the wall. Nastiest Hometown I've ever eaten at and I think I'm done with them all.

We went to Shelbyville Hometown Pizza. We were seated in a booth. The Manager came over and said you meed to move and she said it with a nasty attitude. I have a party coming in. My wife got up told her we will never come back her. The Manager is a Nasty B......

I don't know what has happened to Hometown Pizza in Shelbyville but it has really gone downhill. This was supposed to be a colossal cheese pizza and it's the thinnest layer of cheese I've ever seen $15 for a small just to receive a messy pizza that doesn't even fit together. Seriously, it looks like half of a pizza with 2 random slices thrown into it. So disappointing and for what?? Get it together.

The food was amazing and everyone was so sweet and attentive to my needs.The lighting is nice and they have good up to date music, their paintings and decorations are really cool.
