Historic Park Restaurant

First off, don't be fooled when you drive up and it's at the end of a strip mall. It's name makes you think you are going to a little historical building. It's not...but don't fret. Four of us stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner. Our waitress, Kim, was happy and friendly. We discussed the Beef Manhattan but all opted for sandwiches - but looked wonderful as it was delivered to nearby patrons. The Reuben sandwich was very good - tender cornbeef and the sauerkraut was drained properly so the marbled rye bread was not soggy. The only thing that would cause it to get a '9' would have been I like it toasted a tad more. One order a simple grilled cheese and for his side got the green beans - which were a '10' because they were seasoned perfectly with bacon onions and soft like they been cooked for a good long time. The onion rings were soooo good! A '10' - lightly beer battered and good greasy - perfectly cooked!The other couple decided on the Pork Tenderloin sandwich. They split it because it comes with two buns! Yes, it's that big. They opted for the side of home fries - similar to cottage fries. It lacked nothing. For dessert it was true homemade pies. Butterscotch was NOT pudding! It was cooked custard-type. Very good. The peanut butter pie was not this diner's favorite dessert but looked scrumptious. Now the blackberry cobbler - let's just say - there wasn't a crumb left. It's about 4 miles off the interstate but we'll worth the extra few minutes!

During covid, the area is plenty spaced to allow for social distancing and the facility is very clean. The menu is vast and they have weekly special. I was so pleased to see chocolate gravy, I had not had it since I was a child from my grandmother. Their gravy did not disappoint. However, the biscuits were mediocre. You can tell it was a big pan of biscuits made on a cookie sheet and cut- was not a fan of the flavor or texture. I tried part of the omelette my partner was eating, and it was great. The bacon was cooked to crisp as I asked. The waitress was attentive and pricing fair. Great choice for families, plenty of large table and seating.

This is one of the most popular restaurants in New Castle. It is always busy and for a good reason. The food is always fresh and always good. They have a very extensive menu and many different options to choose from. I did notice that some items have been taken off the menu since Covid hit. This is most likely a cost saving strategy. I have not had anything that I would not get again. The staff are always busy, but at the same time they are very nice. Everything that I have tried on the menu I have enjoyed.The one downfall has recently been the price increases on the menu items. Of course, this is not necessarily their fault because the cost of everything has gone up. On Friday's, they have all you can eat fried chicken or fried fish. They are both very good. I have gotten both of them many different times. I also really like their breakfast items even though I am not a big breakfast fan. Even though I've never gotten the pancakes myself, my spouse gets them almost every time they are humongous and you get a gigantic portion. I am more of a biscuits and gravy person, so that is what I typically get.One of my absolute favorite things to get from here is actually the grilled chicken Cobb salad. The salad is so big that you cannot finish it in one meal. Unfortunately, like I have said, I know longer get this because of the cost. It is almost $15-$16 for the salad. Even though the salad is wonderful, I just cannot think of spending that price on a salad, which I could make it home for 1/3 of the price. I do highly recommend the ranch dressing if you are a ranch dressing enthusiast like I am I really enjoy dipping my fries in the ranch.Again, I would highly recommend giving this place a try because of the great atmosphere and the amazing food. I know I will personally be back many more times as there are more things that I would like to try that I have not got to try yet.

We went back for ribs. The food was good what there was of it. A half rack of ribs is between 6 to 7 ribs depending on the size of the ribs. Today I ordered a half rack and received 4 ribs. When I mentioned it to the waitress she said that the owner had cut do on portions. With the meal was suppose to come with 2 sides. So I ordered 2 side salads just like we always did. I was charged .49 extra for both salads and another $1.00 for an extra plate. So much for the 2 sides with the meal.The waitress never refilled our drinks while we ate. Never even asked if we wanted more drinks. Not a good idea. We have came here for several years for their baby back ribs. And usually received at least 6 ribs. I may have to find another place for my ribs. Sad situation when we have to deal with this type of service during a "plandemic".

First visit was disgusting!!! The waitress we had took 20 min to ask about drinks, then took 15 min to bring them to us! Then just walked away! It went on and we complained! One of us got our meal comped, one complained about cold meal and they did nothing for her!Well, I gave it a second chance, that waitress was not there, nor that manager! Food came pretty fast, was hot and cooked very well! Now I will recommend them to my friends!!

Wife and I had a great time here! Food was OUTSTANDING as well as the service (as for Tonya). I had Brisket and ribs with a side onion rings and zesty cucumber salad; all way fabulous, high quality and very tasty. Wife and steak sandwich and was very impressed! Bread was fresh and the steak was juicy and tasty. Special not the location is miss marked on Yelp, it almost a crossed the street from Mc Ds.

Oh how I have waited for this moment to finally review restaurants locally and Park Restaurant is at the top of my list. I started coming here when it was half the size it is now and they were still getting their footing in this small town. I have brought friends, family, children and even just myself at times so I can speak freely when I say this is one of the best restaurants in New Castle Indiana. Have you ever arrived in a restaurant and looked around at the drab deco or the wait staff that has disdain written all over their face and demeanor plus the food potentially coming out either to processed or over flavored? Not here you will not at least in my personal opinion and I can say between the 30 + people I brought here with me over the years we have tried every item offered either by menu or by daily specials. The Chicken club melt is humongous , tasty and one of my top favorites. DISCLAIMER: If you attempt the whole sandwich be prepared to having an extremely full stomach. To sum it up I HIGHLY recommend coming here any day or time they are open.

Consistent good food and great service. Good home cooking with great specials. Best Patty Melt! Great Wall decor.

The food is great, plentiful, and well worth your dollar! Most of the wait staff are excellent, For now they are looking at keeping everyone happy!

This place is a gold mine! Very moderately priced and huge portions of fresh food! They are customer-focused and deliver a fantastic food and atmosphere. Highly recommend!!!
