From the outside this tiny little shop doesn't look like much- I actually drove past it by accident- but inside it is packed with a fantastic range of Asian products. The focus is primarily Korean food items with a surprisingly decent stock of housewares, beauty items, and accessories. The shop is tidy and neatly organized. I've been to several Asian markets in the region with labels made unreadable by dust and age- that was definitely NOT the case at Hanguk! The shop is nicely laid out and carries quality product at fairly reasonable prices. The prices are almost cheaper than some of the larger supermarket sized Asian markets in Columbus or Cincinnati. The woman running it was super polite and patient with everyone.I'm not sure why there are so many low ratings, but I'm definitely going back here again.

This little store is packed with Korean and Japanese products in a haphazardly organized fashion. I got wonderful service and found everything I needed, but I had hoped for a wider selection of fresh produce.

Nice korean market with tons of options. It's not as big as some of the larger markets in the big cities of course, but this is smaller and family owned, so I'm not sure why ppl are giving low scores for that. It reminds me of the korean markets in DC I'd go to when I was little. Regardless of its size there's tons of options. It's packed with snacks, frozen options, fresh kimchi, and even plates and bowls. There's everything here. They even make kimbap which is a korean version of sushi but it's cooked. The service is always great too as the owners are incredibly nice and willing to help with any questions. I stop by here every 2 weeks or so and love it.

This is the BEST Korean market in Dayton. By far. This hidden-away place is right next to SAYA (sushi restaurant) and has had a new change in ownership. The new owner truly renovated the place so that it is spic-and-spac clean with a refrigerated grocery section that carries assorted Asian veges and fruits (Fuji apples, Korean peppers, HUGE green onions, Bu-chu "Chinese style leeks").They also have delicious kim chee in glass jars in the kim chee section. If you've had kim chee from American markets, let me just tell you, that is so, NOT kim chee. That's just salted cabbage. The best way to describe the kim chee you get from American supermarkets with those pseudo Asian-ish sounding names like "King Sun's Kim Chee" is soo-ho-ho-ho not the real thing. The kim chee you get here is the real, traditional kim chee like the ones you eat in Korea. Granted, it isn't the best but this is going to be the most traditional taste you can get in Ohio. Actually the best kim chee I got was the "BITGOEUL" brand from Pleasing Market, a few blocks away from here. How do you eat Kim Chee? With sticky rice. You can buy Calrose Rice and cook that straight up, or get SHO-CHIKU-BAI (Japanese glutinous rice) and mix 1/2 cup of that with 1/2 cup of American long-grain rice. If you cook SHO-CHIKU-BAI straight up, it will be too glutinous to eat unless you specifically want that style of rice. You can cook Kim Chee in sesame oil and it's quite delicious with sliced beef + soy sauce. When you first buy it and it's been fairly recently made, it will taste more "fresh" and have a more fresh cabbage flavor. As it ages/ferments in your refrigerator, it's usually used in soups. If you have Ramen, put some Kim Chee in the boiling water and cook with the ramen. Alternatively, you can make Kim Chee hot pots with tofu, zucchini, onions, and sausage (spam works great!) and eat that with rice. The recipes are endless, so get a get good quality one. With that aside, this place has a VERY friendly new owner. There's lots of frozen fish, cuttlefish, octopus, and Korean/Japanesestyle fish: Yee Myun Soo, Japanese eel (Unagi), salted Mackeral (so yummy!), etc. that you'd find at a traditional Korean table. This is the market of choice that I always come to for my Korean recipes. If you'd like to find out how to cook Korean food, this woman is the best: www.maangchi.com She has her own Youtube channel too!Tags: Asian grocery, Asian market, Korean market

Once you find the store, you'll be amazed how you lived without it.The store is north of Pleasing Market and Hon Me grocery stores, near Saya restaurant. It offers a lot of Korean products and produce. You'll find everything from packaged ramyun/ramen and snacks to whole fish, coffee, and vegetables. The prices are similar to other stores along Kauffman Avenue and the staff are friendly. It's just a bit more difficult to find since the store front is along the side of a building with a doctor's office out front.

What an amazing atmosphere they have such nice smiles on their faces and very helpful and cheerful. I was looking for Mirin and found it at the Hanguk Oriental Food Market in Fairborn. Drive slowly or you will miss the '70s-style, single story office building as it sits at a right angle to the street and houses a dozen or so tenants. The Hanguk is super jam packed with packaged food goods of all kinds - a happy, visual assault to the eyes and an olfactory wake-up call. This English-only American (me) found it impossible to read any labels on the shelves but no matter - a lovely Asian lady was most helpful and pulled a bottle of Mirin off the shelf immediately. I was glad I had the recipe and list of ingredients to show her. For, while we didn't communicate all that successfully, she read English exceptionally well and understood what I needed. I also was looking for Thai chilis, which they did not have, and she suggested for me a bottle of ground spices which added the necessary heat to the dish I was preparing. She was so kind to me as I blundered about, and I will return as I explore more Asian recipes.

They sell an amazing variety of foods and everyday essential items. And the Gimbap () is made daily and always delicious. The owners are wonderful and very nice. I bought my Hanbok there.
