Love this place. Great food. Reasonable portionsIf you like old school, Chinese cuisine; this is your best betWe don't want fancy fusion dishes and that's why we are always looking for good honest Chinese food In addition to delicious Chinese dishes, they also have dim sum. Highly recommend!

This well-established Chinese restaurant is the authentic real deal! I've done their take-out twice and then hosted 15 friends to dinner there, and it has never disappointed. The interior is ornate and manages to be both beautiful and informal. They could easily accommodate my group, setting 2 tables of eight in the back of the room, which made it both private and quiet. The menus were amazingly impressive -- a legal-pad sized two-sided laminated sheet packed full of options. Plus a separate long description of dim sum options you could order with the meal. They seemed a little stingy with the menus -- giving us only 4 for both tables. But I found more on a stand, and my friends didn't seem to mind passing the menus back and forth. And the food is excellent. One member bought crab rangoon orders for the table, which were crispy and just oozing with cream cheese goodness. I have also tried their General Tso's Chicken, chicken with black bean sauce, beef with vegetables and Kung Pao Shrimp. They were all well-made. The flavor profile is mild but flavorful and the vegetables are fresh and crisp. But I discovered that if I wanted my level of spice (which is a little heat), I can just order one of the dishes designated as hot, like the Kung Pao Sprimp, and the heat level fits my palate perfectly. I also loved the sesame balls and the coconut pudding -- a coconut-flavored gelatin. All in all, Grand Oriental delivered with authentic taste, huge portions, timely service, and a great atmosphere.

First and foremost it has been the same family and chef since they opened all those years ago. They were in this corridor before it was one. There has been so much growth in the area I can only hope this will cement their presence for years to come. My son and I arrived mid day on a Saturday and they had a very nice crowd for the Dim Sum. My son and I love a few favorites so we ordered off the menu. Mine was the sesame chicken and my son had the chicken and broccoli. Always amazingly consistent. Best I have ever had. The friendly staff honoring every request, such as more rice please and extra dipping sauce. Thank you. We started with soups, egg rolls and dumplings. Simply fresh and delicious. I am amazed at how clean and warm the decor has remained after all these years. Anything less than 5 stars in this, you get what you pay for establishment,, would just not be right. I suggest dine in as the food comes out super fresh. For just a few dollars more than your local carry out Chinese, you get the real thing. I would like to compliment the family, especially front of house and chef. Simply wonderful. Thank you for making your place a special place for my family and I.

My recent dim sum experience at Grand Oriental was incredible! I even brought my mom, a self-proclaimed dim sum aficionado from Southern California, and even she was impressed. What truly stood out was the freshness. Unlike some places, everything tasted like it was made to order, not pre-cooked and reheated. Some dishes even seemed to arrive straight from the kitchen, hot and bursting with flavor. It made the whole experience feel exciting and dynamic. The flavors themselves were amazing - deep, complex, and authentic. It was like being transported to a Hong Kong dim sum restaurant. The combination of fresh ingredients, authentic flavors, and friendly service makes it a must-try. I can't wait to return and explore more of their menu!!

Ate here on a Friday nite with a large group. Ambiance was good and the noise level was reasonable so we were able to have normal conversations. I had 2 egg rolls, some hot and sour soup and Kung Pao chicken. Everything tasted great, Someone else ordered some crab rangoons to share and they were divine-best I've ever had. I will probably order some on my next visit. Also someone ordered chicken feet with black bean sauce off the dim sum menu and I had several of those. They were great--they do have small bones in them so it is a lot of work for a small amount of meat, but I can see why they are such a delicacy in the Orient. Service was on point and attentive. No missteps were noted. They have a fairly large menu, so I hope to return again to try more menu items. I can see why they have been around for 35 years.

Checked this place out on Friday night and it was such a pleasant surprise. Though they seemed busy with takeout orders, they do have an expansive, ornate dining room. Lots of good options on the menu but not many details if you're unfamiliar with some dishes. Friendly service!

My friend took me here for Sunday dim sum and I'm glad she did. I was missing some dim sum from Southern California and I really didn't know where to go lol. Anywho the interior of the restaurant is super classical Chinese which is really cute. The dim sum carts had a nice variety of options. We ordered the shumai, hargow, soup dumpling, bbq pork buns, shrimp rice noodle rolls, and fried shrimp balls. Service was good and everything was just a nice overall good experience. Highly recommend coming here for dim sum.I am very curious what their dinner is like so I might come back here to try their non dim sum items. Looking forward to it!

Yeah no... definitely not... We tried to give this place a second chance and went recently for dim sum on a weekend. The shrimp in the shrimp dumpling was not fresh and extremely overcooked. The turnip cake was COLD and undercooked - they went back to ?re-panfry it and brought it back still cold and did not taste good. The sticky rice barely had any flavor or meat in it. The rest of the dumplings were disappointing. Chicken feet and spare ribs were ok, but nothing great to go back for. Will not be going back. We'll stick to going to Great Tang, which at least is consistently good.

One of the first places I ate when I moved to cincy along with my friends who were helping me move. Aside from the personal sentiment I have for this place, the food is amazing. Coming from the east coast, having dim sum was what I needed at the that time remind me of home. Cart service is available for brunch on the weekends otherwise just ask for the dim sum menu! They got all the classics - shu mai, har gow, duck, pork buns, custard buns, lotus root cakes etc. Craving something not in the carts? I always ask for their congee (heals the soul), fried rice, pork belly. The owners are two brothers who always keep a welcoming environment and will suggest favorite recommendations or secret menu specials! Wish I had pictures but my belly is always faster than my camera when I come here!
