What a treat to enjoy Gold Star Cincinnati style chili, especially when someone else is making it! It was a busy, early evening when we stopped in. We weren't sure if we were supposed to wait to be seated or just pick a spot. A friendly employee told us to pick anywhere. They have booths, tables and a diner style lunch counter. There was one waitress for the whole restaurant and she was doing the best she could. He ordered a regular five way and I opted for the four way. If you're new to Gold Star, a five way is spaghetti topped with Cincinnati chili, beans, chopped onions and finely shredded cheddar. The flavor was good but the chili was a little watery. All in all, we enjoyed our dinner and wouldn't hesitate to stop in again during our next visit!

The food and the wait staff are always on point here. The staff is very friendly and will explain what is in some of their food, if you ask them, like for example -- what was in a Frito burrito. I actually prefer Goldstar chili over skyline anyway, so this is a place that I will be back to eat at somewhat regularly.

I've been going to Skyline for years but I finally decided to try out the competition. They keep advertising their burgers but I wasn't quite ready to try them yet. So I stayed safe and tried a 4-Way and a Coney with just the typical ingredients. I wanted the hot cheese but I had to try it the original way first. I will say that I really can't tell a difference between the chilis. Everyone says that Skyline is a bit more cinnamon-like but I really couldn't tell a difference. I will say though that when it comes to the 4-Way, I enjoyed Gold Star's more than Skyline. It was less watery and more flavorful. However when it comes to the Coneys, I prefer Skyline. I like their hotdogs better and that is it. So I guess when it comes down to it, these places aren't that different. Looking forward to coming back and trying the burgers!

We recently visited this location for probably the third or fourth time. I've always had Gold Star in the middle of the pack as far as Cincinnati style chili restaurants. Not spectacular but definitely not bad either. They have a no frills, straight up chili that works well on coneys, fries, and spaghetti. I'm a big coney guy and got 3 cheese coney's with no onion extra mustard. They portion the chili really well as they don't drown the hot dog but aren't skimpy either. The cheese tops it off perfectly and makes a really stellar coney. They also have a good store brand hot sauce if you feel so inclined. I also tried out the Bacon Cheddar Ranch Fries. They come with their legendary crinkle cut fries topped with cheddar cheese, chili, ranch dressing, bacon, a sprinkle of dill, and tomatoes which I left off. These were okay but I think there was a little too much going on here. I think the ranch in particular was really clashing with the other flavours here. I prefer their cheese fries or just straight up plain fries as it really let's those awesome crinkle cut fries shine. The staff was very good all around and I really have little if anything bad to say about this visit.

I finally tried this place to see what all the hype is about. The food is exactly what you expect from fast food for economical prices. It's not exactly five star fresh food but then again its better than school cafeteria food! I am giving it 5 stars because the food met my expectations. I didn't expect my socks to be knocked off and based on this analysis, it's worth 5 starts. When I pulled up through the drive through, I was immediately greeted with a friendly voice when I got to the window to pay I told Grace it was my first time here, and she gave me a "welcome" bag with canned chili and other GS items. As small as a gesture it was, this small act immediately won me over. It didn't matter how bad the food could have been because my opinion was already formed within the first couple of minutes by the friendly employee Grace, and going the extra step by welcoming me to Gold Star. I'll probably eat here again because its close to my home but also allows me to eat something other than BK, McD and Wendys. This area has very few places to eat so I feel customers don't always matter because our options are limited. Gold star was very welcoming, affordable and a a different twist from the major fast food chains.

Don't charge for food you don't provide. Your 3-ways have a tablespoon of chili on them so I ask for a sloppy 3-way. I was charged an additional $1.99 for a side of chili that I didn't receive. It's empress or skyline from now on. Gold star can keep their chili and lose my business along with everyone in my family and some friends. It's a small town so I'm gonna give it my all to make an impact on this location. Gold star= FAIL
