Gaunce's Deli & Cafe

Gaunce's is not a new building so it's not going to look cute or trendy or anything, but it's well kept. The young server man that wears hats is so stinking nice! All of the staff has been nice, but he stands out. The sandwiches, soups, and salads are good! They have lots of options and are open for breakfast. Always had a good meal here. You can count on Gaunce's.

1 - Clean that door handle to the kitchen. It looks gross and sets the tone for your restaurant when new customers walk in. 2 - Brighten up the decor. Make this place more modern and fun to be in. 3 - Food was great. Refer to 1 & 2

I stop here on my way to work sometimes to get something better than fast food. It's good for take out food, and eating inside by yourself or with a few ppl. I've had almost all the sandwiches and salads, cant go wrong. Glad somewhere around here has Muffaleta! It's nice to go to a smaller local place!

Good food, great place to have a soup and sandwich combo I had the Ain't She Sweet pulled pork sandwich and white chili chicken soup. The bbq sauce was tangy and sweet and the bread was fresh and delicious. The chili was filled with chicken and beans, very tasty. My husband went for a Philly steak and substituted it with pepper Jack, it was done in about 5 huge bites - I think he enjoyed it Clean establishment, good customer service, and ample parking.

Three stars for service, one star for taste! I ordered the 1/2 soup sandwich special with a veggie wrap and Santa Fe soup which really should be called tomato juice with beans. Nothing about to soup scream of Santa Fe and lacked flavor all the way around! They held back on veggie wrap or maybe I should have asked for extra veggies to have gotten a full wrap. Either way, I wasn't impressed.The cashier was by far the best part of my experience. She was beyond pleasant and saved the day by providing hot sauce to add some flavor to my plate!

I have been eating at Gaunce's for years and I always got the country ham sandwich with the cornbread salad until my last visit. This last time I tried the Chicken Ruben and it will be my standard order from now on. It was so different from any other Ruben I've had and just really, really good. They serve Coca-Cola products but bring in Winchester, they also have both Ale-8 and Diet Ale-8 available in the fountain soda options. Dessert is always the chess bars as that's something you don't find often.

This cafe was superb and the best soup you could get around. For a small business to survive as long as they have in the age of Paneras and Starbucks, you know they're doing it right. The service is always friendly when we go and the food is top notch, but I guess lately they've been having a hard time staffing because their hours seem to change or they just close up. They also don't carry bread bowls anymore (I assume since I was told on different occasions they just "don't have any today") and it's a shame since they were the best. Still definitely the best cafe in the area though!

I didn't order a whole lot from Gaunce's, but I did enjoy what I got. I got the chicken wrap and a brownie and both were very good. I could tell the ingredients in the chicken wrap were very fresh - fresh meats, veggies and grapes. I loved the combo of the banana peppers, cheese and fruit. A strange combo, but great flavors! I think their prices are affordable, but my only complaint was I wish there was a bit more meat on the wrap. If I'm ever back in Winchester I will be back, and I do recommend!!

On the way from Kentucky back to North Carolina and stopped for a quick bite. I had the club sandwich and a side of macaroni salad. Items are sold separately. Both were good. If I lived in the area I would probably eat here alot, and maybe find some dishes that would push my rating from a 3 to a 4.
