I have been to Fairborn Place BBQ on a couple of occasions. I do not live in the Wright Patterson Air Force Base Area. Even time I come in I am greeted and seated promptly. The host is always friendly. One thing of note is the place is deserted. There are no other patrons in the restaurant, no one watching the TV's, no one playing pool at the tables. Food is served promptly. The ribs are pretty decent but the chicken has been a little dry each time I have ordered it.Overall a decent place to get ribs on a weeknight. The strengths here are friendliness and speed of service. I am truly left wondering is the speed and friendliness of service hold up as this place gets busy.

I've really torn on how to rate this restaurant. Construction on our street has forced us to head to Fairborn for dinner this spring, so we thought we would try something new. We actually had carryout here two nights in a row, so let me explain my rating conundrum. Our first night we checked out their online menu, which was quite disorganized and frankly, most of the items had an error instead of a picture. You could not order online correctly, as there was no options to select your side for combo meals, etc. No worries, as their prices were really good. We called in our order of 1/4 rib meal combo and loaded pulled pork combo. Along with a kid's meal, we carried out a really delicious dinner for three at about $20. The restaurant itself was clean, but utterly and completely empty. Walk back far enough and you will hit the bar in which every seat was full. I had to wait for the bartender to be free so she could gather my carryout order. I wonder is there a cook there or does this lady do everything?Regardless, it was so good we actually decided to carryout again the next night. The outside signage on my first visit indicated Chinese food was available for $6.25 (i.e. bourbon chicken, Mongolian chicken, with lo mein or rice). Now I love some good bourbon chicken, but when we called they were all out. So my wife and I both went with the teriyaki chicken with lo mein. Here in lies problem one. The advertised price of $6.25 was for lunch only (not mentioned on the sign FYI). The "dinner" price was $12 each, which is not even the worst part. The teriyaki chicken had zero flavor, and I mean zero. As is such with carryout, rather then go back we just tried our best to fix it up with flavor (hot mustard, hot sauce, anything). The lo mein looked right, but tasted exactly like plain spaghetti. PLAIN SPAGHETTI. This was by far the most bland meal I had ever tried. We gave up after a few bites and took the $30 loss ("+ a side of potatoes which was exactly that). My final suggestion...stick with the regular menu. Don't even think about the "chinese" menu and you will have some good food at a decent price. After our last trip though, I'm not sure we'll be back.

Jukebox with Nickelback weirded me out a touch on the way in, but with the $5 pulled pork sandwich, incl. 1 side, and a drink I was over it..That sandwich was REALLY great.. pulled pork was juicy and tender and flavourful, but they also grilled the inside of the bun so you get this amazing crispy mouthfeel (remember putting potato chips on your sandwich when you were a kid?)Dominic the bartender was also super friendly and cool too.But really, the main thing was the mac&cheese -- although the portion is small, that flavour was amazing with the extra garlic butter and such.. Just omw back for a second round.. cya

Service and quality have gone down hill recently and after today I don't think I will be using them anymore. This the second time in the last three orders that food arrived twice as long that I was told. The food was cold on both occasions and today my drink was watered down from the ice melting. They started good but something has changed.

They said they didnt have brisket, only pulled beef. I simply didnt realize that meant I was going to have to pull over on the way home to ruin some poor gas station workers day. You live and you learn.

Fairborn Place BBQ has a few things going for it, and a few things that don't. I went there looking for ribs, partly because it is close to where I work and partly because I really like BBQ. If the place can't do decent ribs, I won't go back. Not knocking any restaurant for the remainder of their menu, but if a BBQ place advertises ribs, they should be at least decent enough to get me to come back through the door. Here is what I look for in terms of ribs: They need to be smoked, seasoned, and come either dripping in sauce or have a variety of sauces on the side.First the good:It's a local place, and close to the base and since I work on the base, it is definitely nice to have something other than the regular big-name fast food to eat at lunch. Service is as one might expect for a place that is relatively new. To put it simply, they care about their customers and try their best to make sure they are taken care of. In my 30 minutes there, the wait staff made sure my drink was full and to check to make sure I had everything I needed. The menu was not too long, and all of the prices were extremely reasonable. Time from ordering to receiving my meal was really quick, so no complaints there at all. It is a clean place, and I do suspect from the service alone that they are trying to do well. Now, the bad: If you are expecting actual smoked ribs, I didn't get those. The menu advertises that they smoke their own meats on premises and use a spice rub. When I received my ribs, I could smell neither smoke nor spice. It was obvious to me that they were boiled, or spent a lot of time in a steam table instead of being smoked as well as not being rubbed at all. I could not taste even a little bit of smoke or spice and were quite bland, but they were cooked through nicely, so I ate them anyway. They were not dry at all and there were no raw spots. The sauces were OK, although I would have liked a bit more kick to them. Can't knock them for their sauces because each BBQ restaurant I have eaten at has their own style. None of them were offensive in the least, and frankly, the bourbon and spicy sauces were quite nice.Returning to the note on advertising that Fairborn Place BBQ does on-premises smoking of their meats, there is one thing I have noticed from all places that do that: you SMELL the wood smoke as soon as you walk through the door and you smell it when you drive by. I smelled neither with regard to Fairborn Place BBQ. If they do indeed smoke their own meats, they might want to reevaluate their process because as it stands, I cannot return any time soon to a restaurant that cannot serve decent ribs as advertised on their menu. Ribs, to me, are a mainstay of a BBQ place. Maybe I will check them out a year or two from now and update my review. My review in no way reflects any of their other menu offerings. They may have a good burger or acceptable other menu items. I am just writing about my experiences and the food I received. As always, mileage may vary, and you may like how they make their ribs.

I was really pleased at this restaurant - there's some room for improvement with as with any new place but they are very promising and the prices are great!I had the ribs and they were very tender and fall off the bone - my only complaint was that there wasn't sauce at the table in squeeze bottles, you had to request a side cup. I like trying all the different sauces. Prices for BBQ are very affordable and it looks like they have a lot of specials that they run so this looks like a good restaurant but also a bar as well to hang out at. Looking forward to our next trip here!

Had lunch there today with two other friends. Two of us had the Chinese two entree special. Mine was Orange and Sesame Chicken and both were very well done. My friend had General Tso's and Bourbon Chicken and also said they were very well done. The third member of our party have a half rack of ribs and they were giant sized. I thought it was a full rack at first. She said they were excellent and did not even use any sauces as they were so good. Only minor drawback is that the decor has not changed in 20 years. Not enough of an issue to keep me from coming back.
