Before this venue was el rancho grande, I was a sous chef at Applebees in the same building. All I am saying is that I know my way around that very kitchen. I know, why should you care? The lot is paved, well painted spaces, clean, music is authentic yet not too loud. Immediate seating. Super fast and friendly cooks and staff. I come here often and used to nag them until they got it right. That was a long time ago. Now? I just bask in the amazingness of a perfect dining experience. On the Rancho menu is a vegetarian #4. It is a small veggie burrito with rice and beans on the side. But what if I want rice and beans in the veggie tortilla? Enter the LORENZO ESPECIAL! Feel the magic? Edgar, Miguel, Carlos, Ronaldo and I came up with the holy grail of the "whole enchilada" burrito vegetarian. When I ordered it, the group from the next booth ordered one as well. I will upload the photo of Miguel serving us. Come hungry! You will not be disappointed. It was banging! I just got home. Taking a nap with a huge smile on my face. This is the best MEX in Ohio. I invite you to consider you order a Lorenzo and submit your own review. You can't fake delicious. Did I mention the bathrooms were spotless?

Admittedly I'm grateful that this place exists. I drove around for a while trying to find a place that served good tacos and good margaritas. I would have settled for decent. Fortunately, I didn't have to. This is a fairly low thrills establishment, and surprisingly quiet for a Tuesday night, but it was a fun low key experience. I ordered a frozen margarita and the lobster and shrimp fajitas. The margarita was good without being too sweet, and they're offered in a goblet or gigantic size, so you've got a couple of choices. The fajitas had good flavor with a healthy portion of shrimp, but maybe not so much lobster. There was still enough to get your fill and overall I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. You don't always need bells and whistles, and this place is a definite solid in the Mexican food scene in Dayton.

Decent food, good atmosphere, terrible service. We came in at about 2:00 and the restaurant was basically empty save for one other party. Our waitress was not only inattentive, but she didn't seem to understand the menu very well. I ordered the chilaquiles, and she brought me a burrito! She had to get a Spanish-speaking waiter to understand what I wanted after I even pointed to it on the menu. After that snafu, she also did not check on us or offer to refill our drinks for the entire visit because she was too busy folding napkins and looking at her phone. The food was pretty good- about as good as Mexican food can get in Ohio. I'm sure that my experience would have been better were it not such a slow time of day, but good service should be expected at any time.

The atmosphere was great here. Cute place and very Mexico inspired. Service is great, kept our drinks filled and checked on us regularly. The food was not quite 5 star. We live in Texas so the competition is stiff. I got the taco Wednesday special. 5 hard shell with lettuce and cheese $5. Amazing deal! All filled with a good amount of meat. I ordered three ground beef and two carnitas. My preference was the ground beef. The carnitas were ok. It was way too much for me to eat anyway since we ate two baskets of chips. I added on sour cream for $1.69. The appetizer chips and salsa were good. Only complaint is the salsa was really cold. I prefer it room temp. The chips came out nice and warm. My husband got the #4 combination - 2 tacos, 1 enchilada, and beef queso. We have never had anything like the beef queso, it was ground beef and queso served on a flat bread. It was tasty, we just thought it was going to be a side dish of queso. When we are back in the area we would definitely come back, they have lots of options and a pretty good lunch menu too. You should give it a try!

El Rancho Grande is a local chain in the Cincinnati and Dayton area. It has about 10 or so around. These are pretty much the same thing. If you go to any of them expect great margaritas and mediocre food. There at least are some authentic items. I had the traditional guacamole. It's about $6 for a large portion of it. The difference between this and the regular guacamole is that this is made with peppers and tomatoes. It means that if you don't want plain ass avocados in a tiny side cup this is what you have to get. This is one of the few good tasting items on the menu. It's recommended to get a cocktail. The 20 ounce margarita often is on special for a few bucks so you can't pass it up. If you get a margarita you should be partly satisfied with your meal. It makes anything taste better. The restaurant has lots of discounts and specials.

Food was good. A tad more pricey than other chain Mexican restaurants. I had a chimichanga that was nicely seasoned and cooked just right. The drink I ordered was good and strong. Kids meals had plenty of food. Nice decor, and clean. Service was fast.

I had an absolutely horrible experience. I ordered a business lunch online at 10 in the morning for pick-up at 11:30. At 11:15 I received an email that my order was "missed" and that my company's card would be refunded. I called the restaurant to see what happened. I called twice with no answer. A third time someone picks up and then hangs up on me. I called a fourth time and someone answered. I told him my issue, he put the phone down and didn't come back on the line for a long time. When he finally comes back on the line he can't answer any of my questions and THEN hangs up on me. I had to call back two more times before someone picked up again. That person tells me there was no record of any order being placed. So, I guess we aren't getting lunch at my workplace.
