I've been meaning to try this place and we finally had a chance to go. It was pretty good. I ordered the steak enchiladas and the meat was burnt a little (I like a char on my steak but it was kind of tough at that point) and the tortillas were fine, not quite as soft as I might have preferred. My husband ordered the taco salad with chicken. He said it was good and ate the whole thing. Now the salsa, that was very good. Tasted just like homemade at my family's get-togethers. Everything was just a tad under seasoned for us. The food is basic Tex-Mex, which is nothing to sneeze at, still very tasty. This place makes up for it though in atmosphere. That might not factor in for some, but I loved the inside of the restaurant. It reminded me a little of the Mexico pavilion at Epcot in Disney World. So it made for an enjoyable dining experience overall.

El Jaripeo is near to my house and I order to-go food or visit in person often, probably too often to admit. The food is good and the portions are sized nicely. I'm usually sat quickly because it is a large restaurant. However, the service can sometimes be slow, but I'm patient, especially now when everyone is just doing the best they can. I've ordered many different items from the menu, one of my favorites is Arroz con Pollo, I usually add grilled onions. I always have to order queso for the chips and salsa. They usually have special items each day of the week, for a little discount.
