Love that they have so many fresh seafood!! I only come here for their seafood and occasionally other in store products...but I don't go filling my carts as their products are pretty pricey compared to other Asian markets. Today I made my family ginger scallion steamed fish. Wouldn't buy my fish anywhere else. Thanks E-Star!

Love this place because of the seafood selection and their decent prices but I couldn't give it five stars for two reason.1) I've learned not to trust that they'll give me the live lobster or crab I choose so I have to check the bag again right before I pay for it because I've had an experience there where they switch the very much alive lobster I chose to a dead lobster, I realized it right after I paid for it and got in the car. So beware and make sure the live seafood didn't get switched out when you pay for it!2) I've found expired products there so you'll want to make sure you check the expiration date before buying it.

Live Seafood?! I can't believe this place exists! Got myself a 1.5lb live lobster for $11! Now that's definitely way better than wholefood's seafood or even Jungle Jim's! This little market is tucked away in a strip mall. I would've never noticed it if I weren't going to pho kimmy next door. It's small compared to CAM or Jungle Jim's, but they carry all your essentials: sauces, snacks and whatnot. They also have a small section of produce. I would mainly come here just for their seafood. Price and selection are shockingly good. Now when I feel like cooking up some seafood, I know where to go!

I primarily go here for live seafood. For live seafood, they have, clams, mussels, tilapia, stonefish, eel, stone crabs, bull frogs, crabs, lobsters, and a couple other things depending on the season. Their prices for seafood is actually the cheapest in town; especially the lobsters, I think they go for 7.99 per pound. Which is a bargain compared to ... 10.99 from everywhere else. The market itself isn't huge, but I think they offer a lot of items that are difficult to find anywhere else. For example, if you're into buy live bull frogs, this is the only place that has them.

Sincere disappointment that this super market would take advantage of its customers - dishonestly and lying are at the top of my list for mistreatment of customers. E Star is known to have fresh seafood with live fish and seafood. I was very excited that Cincinnati had something like this which resembles the wet markets of the west coast and Asia. Unfortunately, we were taken advantage of and ultimately we were used for our excitement. We ordered 4 lobsters totalling over 80 dollars - fair market, it was a pretty good price. We were shown the lobsters and they were live and intact. Come cooking time back at home we were shocked to see that all the lobsters we had ordered were missing one claw -- I know #firstworld problems...but this was a blatant lie and dishonest - and would not be acceptable at any other restaurant or seafood market. It would have been different if 1 lobster was missing a claw, but all 4 were. This shows they were obviously taking advantage of customers. Sad that they would do this to a new customer - I wandered from my go to place in Cincinnati for fresh seafood - lobster bakes of Maine, and learned my lesson. Don't make the same mistake.

The price on the live seafood here is absolutely outrageous. Haven't seen 8.99lb live lobster like....ever.....Mostly Vietnamese establishment. Pretty nice variety of non-viet items as well.

Well stocked, friendly staff, seafood that is so fresh it's still alive when you buy it and the only place I know where you can buy live frogs, turtles and eels as ingredients rather than as pets.Additionally we've run into the folks who own Sichuan Bistro - the best and most authentic Chinese restaurant for miles - buying all their ingredients here. While it's small and doesn't have quite the selection of a big supermarket like CAM it makes up for it in the helpfulness of everyone who works there and the sheer variety of unique things that other Asian markets don't carry. It's out of the way and unassuming in a shopping center that has long since passed into obscurity and has more vacant space than tenants, but if you want fresh seafood, difficult to find cuts like pork belly, tongue or organ meats or any number of other difficult to source ingredients then you need to shop here.

E Star isn't a huge grocery, but it makes up for its lack in size by carrying many hard-to get items and the freshest seafood you'll find anywhere - so fresh it's still alive.Hidden in a barren shopping center, E Star is right off Reading (42) by the Reading 275 exit (north side) across from the Dunkin' Donuts. It's well stocked and has a wide variety of items. The prices are great too - I've found taro and yucca here for WAY cheaper than at most places! The cuts of meat they carry range from normal to hard-to-find stuff like pork belly, tongue, liver, stomach, etc. and they also carry random things like crab, eels, turtles, clams, frogs and various fish. The vegetable section is a bit small but it's also mostly just hard-to-find things so it's kind of perfect in that way. Parking is easy - the lot is always empty since the majority of the shopping center is, well, empty. I'm hoping that E Star will be able to be around for a long while despite this (and it's not a bad location either! The whole area is just... dated).
