Doubleday's reviewIt has been several years since we have dined in at this property - back in days of old Outback. We are locals and have been enjoying Doubleday's for decades. We do recommend Doubleday's for excellent pizza carry out.Folks like this place, and there is very good business. Pizza menu is creative, but not for dine in; dinner menu is very uninspired, and attempts to cover too much ground - lots of chicken.... We view a tired old menu which has little appeal to us. Too much meatloaf and ground sirloin. We don't get the Mexican on the menu. It's time to bring in an executive chef to overhaul the menu.Doubleday's menu lacks a theme; nearby local Sea Jax restaurant posits an identity, and folks flock here; not so much with Doubleday's.Ambience - lots of parking and good interior space. We do like the dark interior. Generally a sports bar (light) ambience, and we are not fans of sports bars. Way too many TVs. We like that Doubleday's is a local business and that Doubleday's is convenient. Music is way too loud, and there is much "noise." We cannot recommend as a date night with your wife experience. That said, there are many older couples who seem to be regulars.Service, both take away and in house is excellent. Our server Taylor seems preoccupied, but she is adequate. My son requires some time to choose between ribs and burgers. I was hoping for a straight away pot roast. French Onion soup is a dish that many restaurants fail. Doubleday's nails this dish, and we highly recommend. Pot roast is very good.We shall return for pizza take away..., and for French Onion Soup....

We've tried Doubleday's twice -- once for take-out, once for dine-in. Both times were just alright. We've had the Italian Werewolf pizza, chicken wrap, buffalo chicken sandwich, and chicken potpie. The pizza was alright, the wrap & fries were pretty disappointing -- wrap was super runny and the fries were bland. Buffalo chicken sandwich was pretty good and the chicken pot pie was solid. So all and all, a bit hit and miss for us. The inside is quite dark due to tints on the windows, which made it feel kinda dingy. Service was run of the mill -- dropped off menus, took order, brought check -- the standard. However, we live pretty close so will definitely visit again and I look forward to updating this review after we do.

Went here for lunch. The food was okay, but we felt a bit rushed to order something because of our waitress. We were seated in the corner, so we didn't get a feel for the ambiance. The KOBE Burger tasted like any regular Burger. The Cowboy was a huge, bigger than the KOBE.

I've never been to the new store(used to be Outback?) so this was my 1st time here but have been to Doubleday's at its previous and Springboro'l locations a few time. This new store seems to be better laid out for the patrons and the staff. It seems a little darker and more 'bar like' than previous location Lunch was with dad and he wanted seats at the bar. Bartender was our server and she was very polite and attentive. Took our drink and food order in a timely manner. Food came out quick. Dad loves their chili here and usually gets with a grilled cheese. So he ordered us both chili and said he'd share the sandwich. Chili was pretty tasty, grilled cheese was okay. Not the best I've had, and for sure not the worst, but did pair well with the chili. I can see why dad loves this option. Bathrooms are way in the back corner. All was clean and tidy. Very well trained staff. It would be 5 star review if the fact that two bowls of chili and a grilled cheese didn't cost $30 before tip. Seems a bit much to me?

This is a solid comfort food stop. I will say most folks rave about the pizza here, and I haven't had a chance to try that myself. The atmosphere is nice and family friendly, and we've always had great service whether it was carry out or dine in. I've eaten a few items from Doubleday's and can confirm that most of the portions are crazy huge. For instance, we ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich on one occasion and it literally came with two fried chicken breasts larger than the bun. I find their salads come with way too much sauce/ dressing so I would recommend getting it on the side if you don't want your salad, swimming and dressing. But, it's worth noting that the chicken tortilla soup is very similar to the chicken tortilla soup that was served at Max and Erma's (which is super delicious, and super cheesy). The macaroni and cheese we've ordered is good, but very dense and the quesadillas are also very good and budget friendly. This is a solid dinner spot, depending on what you're in the mood for. But, overall a super good value for the portion sizes.

I got the buffalo chicken sandwich deep fried with Onion rings. My husband got the Colby beef burger with onion rings. Both was great! Food was so tasteful and came to us hit!
