My friend and I have been wanting to try jollof rice and fufu and this was the perfect spot for that! Food was very authentic and had good flavor so if you're into this cuisine I would definitely recommend it. It is a small space inside but there is seating available so that you can enjoy the food fresh which I will say is definitely the way to go. The service was amazing. We found out about this place through someone's Instagram story and so they asked to see the picture and helped with what was on it from the menu and what else they recommended as first timers. They also helped with how to eat Fufu and the proper way in doing so. The staff was very friendly and honestly made the experience really good as it can sometimes be scary going to a new cuisine for the first time and not knowing what to expect!

The food is excellent! The dishes I tried all had unique, distinct flavors. It was yummy. Peanut butter soup w/ mixed meat, oxtails and delicious but expensive jollof rice-it was a big portion.Nothing fancy as far as the store is concerned, but I enjoyed speaking with other patrons as I waited. The deduction is due to menu pricing being different than actual pricing. Also, I was quoted 30-40 minutes but it was an hour. I just took out my laptop and got some work done.I would order ahead. The location is not close for me, but it's worth it!

I found this place on yelp after we just finished our appointment nearby. The place look very unassuming from the outside and very easy to miss when you drive by. Starving, we ventured inside and opted for takeout. Even as a Seattleite where everything costs an arm and a leg, I thought the prices here are rather steep. I had to double-check by asking the girl behind the counter if the portion was meant to be a family-size for the price.Navigating the menu was a tad confusing, but I settled on the Curried Chicken Breast ($24 incl. tax), while he got the Jollof Rice with Fried Fish ($18 before tax). She told us that it would be about 35-minutes wait. When we got our food and ate them, everything started to make sense. Every dish is meticulously crafted from scratch and freshly made-to-order, resulting in a flavor explosion with every bite.I won't lie to you, the Curried Chicken Breast was one of the best dishes I've ever had in my life. With each bite, the flavors intensified on my tastebuds, creating an addictive culinary experience. I could tell that the coconut rice was made with all fresh ingredients, nothing pre-made and it was very fragrant. Even so, the entire time eating it, my brain really tried to justify the $24 price tag with the portion given. While my dish was a bit scant on chicken, the generous serving of rice left the both of us with enough leftovers for several meals. I thought he got more value out of his meal cause it came with side salad and veggies, but he said he wished for a more substantial fish portion. I didn't try the fish but he said it was good and not fishy. The jollof rice was delicious.Inside, you can also find authentic imported African items by the counter. He liked the pineapple ginger drink - he said it was very strong in spices like hwentia among the ingredients. We both noted the need for improved air circulation due to the lingering smell of frying oil.. Overall, it's undeniable that they do make really good food, 100% fresh and authentic. However, considering the wait time, I'd recommend placing an order ahead of time for a seamless pickup experience.

Two reasons you should go to Divine Appetite: 1. Great Caribbean/African food. 2. Support a great locally owned family restaurant. This was restaurant 2 (of 24) of my wife and my December eating Advent calendar. What a great treat! My wife ordered the Fufu (think of mashed potatoes, but made of Casava). It came with a spicy soup and a whole Tilapia (including bones). Our food supply has mostly made us forget our proteins were living at some point, so I quite enjoy the "bone in" experience due to it's lack of processing and higher freshness. I ordered the Fried Red Snapper and it took was the whole fish. We both loved the flavors! For sides I had fried plantains and a black-eyed pea dish. Both Amazing. So the food and love and attention put into it by the family is the hero here. It is hard to describe, but we just feel better after eating fresh food, and that is how we left Devine Appetite... feeling great This restaurant is exactly as I would expect from a small family owned business. It is in an unassuming strip mall location. Many of the family work there (I counted 3 generations). The food is prepared when ordered, so it will not be a quick in and out experience. My wife and I loved this vibe and will certainly come back.We saw many people come in to grab food as take out, so that is also an option.

No question about it: this is amazing authentic African cuisine prepared with care. I called in an order to pick up, and was surprised to hear it would take 30 minutes, as they weren't that busy. I'm guessing, from the quality of the food, that the length of time was in preparation, mostly from scratch. The restaurant itself is mostly a storefront -- there are a few tables, but it seems primarily to be a take-out establishment. The atmosphere is pleasant, with brightly colored walls and African music playing in the background. But it's the food itself that's amazing!! The peanut soup was a flavor explosion -- very dynamic, with complex spices, and huge chunks of chicken -- my protein choice -- marinating happily in the soup. I also ordered the Palava sauce with beef, that was uniquely flavored, and a huge portion of white yams. Plus a large bowl of collards -- they struck me as bland, until I put a little salt on them -- then the other more subtle spices really came through. All together, a wonderful sensory experience of authentic flavors.

I travel for work and have been in Cincinnati for a year and being from Miami I am used to real Caribbean food and there is not that many out here that is worth me going to at all but this location is everything. The best Jollof rice I have ever had , it not to spicy but spicy enough to enjoy the flavors of the rice. The food is cooked fresh so don't expect it to come out fast but when it does it will be worth your wait.

I can't recommend the Divine Appetite Cafe enough if you're looking for unique food. It is in a pretty random location and easy to miss with a definite no frills type of environment. The restaurant provides a variety of African cuisine of which I'm admittedly a novice. I asked the lady working there which part of Africa, and she said Ghana. The food reminds me a lot of Jamaican or other island type food. We ordered the following:Meat Pie: This dish is worth the price of admission alone. I've had lots of meat pies over the years from Jamaican places but this one takes the cake. They make these to order and you can tell with the flaky pastry dough and the beef/veg filling. I could of ordered 10 of these just to take home.OxTail: My wife ordered this as it is one of our favorite dishes from traveling around to various Caribbean islands. The meat was tender and I would say in more of a tomato creole type sauce then what you see at a Jamaican restaurant.Peanut Soup: I ordered this and it comes with goat (or you can choose a different meat). The lady working there recommended it, and I'm not afraid to try something authentic. I wouldn't say I'm a huge goat fan, but she said it was best with it. I have to say that it was probably the most tender goat I've had. The peanut soup itself is delicious and they give you a rice ball to eat along with it.This place is packing the flavors and don't be afraid to check it out if seeking a little adventure/something new.Highly recommended!
