I would not recommend this venue to ANYONE. I was mortified at the experience, and we ended up leaving early because it was so terrible. I reached out to the owner to request a partial refund, which she agreed to, then ceased communication. This was nowhere in the realm of "high tea" - the entire thing was embarrassingly bad. I was mortified to have brought my family to that. Nothing was prepared when we arrived. The waitress seemed surprised to see us and was preoccupied with another pickup order. She was very clearly new, and the owner wasn't seen except for when I went to the back to finally ask for drinks. The waitress left the door wide open while it was cold outside with 2 toddlers for about 5 minutes. I finally shut it myself. There was no music, and when I asked if she could put something on, she looked at me like I was crazy and then turned on country music or something similarly non-tea room-esque. I just told her we'd put on our own music and we played tea room music on our phones. She told us to select any tea pot and then later told us we picked ones we couldn't use. We were there for about 30 minutes without anything to drink - I finally came back to ask for water or tea after we were served two small plates with potato chips (for a table of EIGHT). We had to ask for enough cups, as the table wasn't fully set. I had to serve everyone water and tea myself. The food items on the buffet were shockingly bad. Genuinely, shocking. We were served bread with icing and sprinkles, pb&js, pudding cups, fruit thrown in a bowl, store bought cupcakes, and a few finger sandwiches on plain bread. The chicken salad sandwiches were decent but there was almost no salad on them at all. We left because I was humiliated at the experience and we were all hungry and wanted to be able to enjoy celebrating my daughter and sister's birthdays. The owner claimed we snuck out; however, we didn't sneak out - no one was paying attention to us or checking on us at all. We were quite loud as we left. Overall terrible experience. If I ever want a tea party in the future, I will do it myself - it would be 500x better than this.

Really okay tea service. The food (especially the scones) is pretty good. The deserts were okay, kinda tasted store bought... which is fine since you're mostly there for the experience. The tea menu is REALLY limited. Tea places back on the west coast have tens of teas to choose from, here you get to pick from 6 or 8 (with a couple listed as decaf and non decaf). The tea is good. My biggest complaint about this place was undoubtedly the service starting from when we walked in. We entered through the front door into the dining room and were confused whether to seat ourselves since no one was there. We stood awkwardly for a bit until we went to check in the back and the owner was sitting there on her ipad. She made a comment about how she was just posting on FB that they had scones to go. Didn't welcome us or apologize for the wait. We had made a reservation for 5, but 1 was not able to make it and she told us "oh well I already made the tea for 5 so you'll have to pay for it" even though that was nowhere on the fb page. We were happy to pay and just eat the extra portion, but the way she said it was really kind of rude. The rest of the service was slow with us asking her several times for basics like spoons, sugar, cream, napkins. She did bring us everything but was not prompt and kept making comments about how many people no-showed on their reservations and how frustrated she was. I understand it's a small business and I'm sure it's upsetting, but I don't know that that's how you want to chat with brand new customers... or in general. She told us we would get 5 pots of tea and ultimately we only got 4 due to being hurried through the service. Checking out was a bit of a mess and once we paid she didn't really thank us for coming in, but just told us to come back and to order some of her scones to go in kind of a tone like "you owe it to small businesses to come back". Overall I would not come back. The food was good and the place is really cute but the owner's attitude was really lacking. I 100% understand these are stressful times but I don't think it needs to be taken out on customers.

Enjoyed a delicious and lovely tea service at Communitea Cafe! The finger sandwiches and appetizers were absolutely delicious and there was so much to sample from! I especially loved the scones and delectable treats! Looking forward to visiting this Dayton gem once again in the near future!

I thought that this tea room was such a great experience! Took my daughter for a date here and she loved it. We did the high tea which was $16 a person and at first I thought it was a little expensive, but after the whole experience I believe it's worth the price. High tea comes with two pots of tea one at the beginning one towards the end. They bring out little tea sandwiches at least four different styles, deserts, little pastry hors d'oeuvres, fruit, cheese, and at the end fresh hot scones for desert. Which this is when they brought us the second pot of tea. They take cute little pictures of your group if you want, with picture frames, and provide dress up hats, pears and so on.Over all worth it, not my usual cup of tea as a guy and I would 100% take my daughter back. Well worth the price!

My mother in law and sister in law hosted my baby shower here today and it was such a lovely wonderful experience. The food, tea and lavender lemonade were delicious. We were constantly checked on if we need tea refills. The owner was extremely kind and truly loves what she has created in Communitea Cafe, you feel that as soon as you walk in the door. I would 100% recommend this as a party venue or just for afternoon tea! I plan on going back soon :]

So my friend Jenn and I went here while my car was being fixed and it was a lot better than expected. When you get there, someone sits you, then you pick out a teapot to have your tea served in. Not only that, but before or after ordering, you get to choose a fancy little hat to wear while there. Simple dishes, nothing heavy or overbearing. I ordered a pot of tea, a sandwich, and a scone and my bill was only $12. The price isn't anything out of reason. The hours are a little short, but they do it during "tea time," so. Overall a very cute place and I will return.

This place is adorable. The ambiance is exactly as promised. The teapots and china are all lovely and unique. with unique cow cream pots and even a Mrs. Potts and Chip cups. We took my Niece there for a birthday celebration and she had a lovely time trying on hats and taking pictures. The tea was excellent and brewed well and our hostess was eager to make sure that was just right. The catch was that there was only one hostess and that with 5-6 tables she was behind. the rest of my family was not in a rush but my sister and I were constrained by time to leave for other obligations. The Lunch wasn't my favorite. When you pay 8$ for a salad it should be excellent. Not a small Iceburg lettuce salad with a couple of nice ingredients tossed on the top...The scones were exquisite. They definitely made up for the blah lunch..I would go back. FOR Tea, Pastries and the experience.

Charming little tea room! We just had scones and tea and it was delicious! The scones had blackberry jam and clotted cream. Very relaxing. Friendly waitress.

This was a pitiful example of what a tea house should be. The chairs fall apart, the staff is poorly dressed and the food is the example of what you get in a three year old party. I am upset that I spent more than I should have there. It seems like there was good intention, but poorly executed by thoughtless staff. I will never be back.

We had an amazing time. Got to pick out tea pot for our teas. We picked the wedding tea, lavender tea and cinnamon clove tea. We got the high tea for the adults and kids. Everyone loved their food. Hard to choose a favorite. Hosting sister in law bridal shower here in September. Very excited. Staff and owner are very nice.
