We stopped in after having lunch next door so that I could buy some tea. I haven't been in since it changed owners and found it to be stocked well. I didn't realize they had sushi until seeing the previous reviews. So, now I have to try their sushi! I also think my grandson would really enjoy the vending machines. The owners were friendly and welcoming.

If you have lived in Japan, love home style Japanese food or just love making good Japanese food at home, you have to come to Coco Sakula for your Ohio oasis. I was so excited to hear about this place soon after moving here and I can't wait to come back :)They had some items I have had trouble finding at Jungle Jim's like the right type of frozen udon, kirimochi, the right type of rice... okay, so I'm just picky but they also had good looking sashimi-grade yellowtail & tuna as well. I so appreciate that they have stuff I need!!It's a small store but I wasn't really lacking for anything except for stuff that's not really available in Ohio like fresh mochi etc. Also I wish there had been Jpop playing lol. I came on Sunday so there wasn't much ready food available like I see in the other pictures. A wife/husband duo are the owners (? maybe?) and they were super sweet. I ordered a gyudon and some sushi and they indulged my forgetful Japanese with a really nice conversation!! We complained about the lack of good Japanese food in the area and how expensive it is lol. The gyudon is so good, it's so nice to have home cooked food that I don't have to make myself! I will be back often :)

The most adorable, authentic, and peaceful little Japanese grocery. They have fantastic lunch options; quick, low-key and delicious. Pro tip - the menu is in the back on a chalkboard, but you'll go to the cashier in the front to place your order. I love the katsu (fried pork cutlet) curry with rice. Also some great to-go options. Try their kelp (Hijiki) onigiri. I'm especially fond of their lovely egg salad sandwiches made with Japanese mayo. And, of course, anything you'd need to cook some killer Japanese food at home, including a fresh produce section, sushi grade fish, and dry, cold, and frozen goods. Prices are very reasonable. The owners are friendly and hospitable. Perfect place to visit for a nice, quiet lunch.

I went to this store today, after I was looking for umeboshi(Japanese plum) Onigiri. It was the right flavor that I was so craving for. My husband also got 3 sushi rolls(spicy tuna, spicy salmon, Philadelphia roll) and all ingredients were very fresh. Both owners were super friendly and he wanted to know if we are from near. Even though we live 3 hours away from this store, we'll definitely love to come back when we have another chance to visit this area!

We weren't looking for anything specific except maybe fried chicken skin, which they did not have. I wasn't surprised. Fried chicken skin is a delicacy I've only found when we lived in California. Good thing because as delicious as fried chicken skin is, it's not especially healthy. I did run across something I had to buy - Choya Plum Wine, another item easily found in California. I was excited and purchased two bottles. The price on the wine was outstanding. The shop is small. It appeared clean. It's been in this spot for a while, so they must do a decent business.

I'm a big fan of supporting local businesses that are community based and privately owned - this location in Evendale has changed hands a number of times over the years - it is primarily a grocery store for Japanese food - the excellent service starts with a hearty greeting and an offer of help - I appreciate the traditional, welcoming hospitality of the owners - it's surprisingly affordable for a small grocery store - I found several specialty items that are sourced locally and a lunch menu which includes some of my favorite maki sushi - made fresh and extremely delicious - while this location is more of a grab and go - you can't get a better quality or value anywhere in Cincinnati - come and experience the ambiance of a traditional Japanese grocery - and know that you're supporting the community with your patronage.

Loving their selections!Though their Japanese food distributors, coco Sakula has unique items that fresh made bread ( be ready every Thursday morning), loaves of bread( 4 cuts/6cuts/10cuts) for only $3 of each. Owner used be a sushi chef, so he'll make sushi bowl, nigiris, rolls and bento upon requests.I highly recommend to go for a big hunt of unique Japanese foods !

First time back since they've re-opened and I believe it's now under new ownership. It was so organized and clean. I was greeted with friendly smiles and a welcoming vibe. The staff was so friendly and patient. I bought a salmon onigiri while I waited for my dine in chicken bowl from their cafe and one of the ladies saw that I was struggling with the onigiri wrapping and helped me right away. It's a special style of wrapping where the seaweed and the rice are wrapped separately. The salmon onigiri was amazing. The salmon was so flavorful bringing back memories of my time in Japan! Their cafe offers a daily menu which I ordered the chicken bowl and it was so good. The chicken was so tender and the portion was big that I couldn't finish it all. Best part, my chicken bowl was already in a takeout container so I could easily take home my leftovers. They also have a menu with a wide variety of sushi which I will try next time. Theres also a small selection of made to order dishes and appetizers in the back by the cafe cooler. Highly recommend!

I've been going to this little shop. It's small but it's cute. Their sushi is so fresh as it's made to order. They also have onigiris and a section with gatcha games. Owners are so friendly and polite.
