To experience the newest pub in Dayton, head over to Capri Lanes and enter through the main doors. Immediately turn to your left and, before proceeding, prepare for a sports bar atmosphere that seems totally foreign to a bowling establishment in this city. Once inside the City Pub, your eyes will be immediately drawn to the left and the expansive U-shaped bar with a wooden bowling lane top. Also on the left, and reaching almost to the top of the 20-foot ceiling, a MASSIVE projection-screen TV hangs above the bar. On the wall opposite from the entrance is an 80" flat-screen TV and on the wall above your head is another large projection TV screen. To the right, facing the bowling lanes are two large, functioning, glass-paneled garage doors which can be opened/closed to control noise. The 3 large-screens are complimented by 9 additional flat-screen displays placed throughout the space. Both high and low table seating is available, with a few booths along the wall with the garage doors. The bar is surrounded by a phalanx of steel bar stools. The menu offers an enhanced bowling lane/sports bar fare, but the true gem here is the bar and beer selection. While they advertise 60 different beers (bottled, cans & draft), they actually have more than that available including 12 craft and 4 domestic beers on tap. I recommend the City Pub if you are looking for a casual place to spend a few hours with friends, bowl a few games and sample a few excellent beers. If your experience is the same as mine, while watching the big-screen above the bar with your back to the lanes, you might forget that you are inside a bowling alley in Kettering, Ohio.-EG

Since it was a Friday, I was really craving fish and chips.I went into the parking lot and it was so packed that I had to park in the last row. I was wondering how long it would take to get my food, but there were a ton of people bowling but only five in the City pub. The server was fast, friendly and very knowledgeable. The place was clean and had lots of monitors for sports. As I was ordering, the other patrons highly suggested I try the half chicken dinner. Man! It was delicious.

I realize that this place is brand new, but my rating stands. The food is disgusting. You can get much better bar food elsewhere. And don't expect to get it in a timely manner. We waited seriously an hour for a burger and fries. But most people don't go to bars for the food. They have an ok beer and mixed drink selection. The interior is pretty nice, though. This place is not worth the time or money. I may give this place another chance, but it won't be for a good year or so at least.

Short staffed on our last visit and not all the menu items were available. The staff that was there certainly tried their best to keep up.
