I have passed by Chops, Cheese, and Chives SO many times and always swore I would pop in. Finally, I made it happen! I was looking for some good produce. Specifically, I was making sandwiches this weekend and wanted a fresh tomato to slice up and add on as a topping. I was in luck. The store is definitely bigger than I expected and there were all kinda of grocery items, many from local vendors. My favorite item that I purchased was some delicious bread from 16 Bricks Bakery. The prices all seemed fair, maybe a little more than you'd spend at a big chain grocer. They also had great local (and regional) Kombucha on tap - how cool is that?! There wasn't anyone at the front of the store when we arrived, but upon ringing the bell, someone popped up and was able to assist us. I'll definitely come back to get some great items from local vendors.

I am excited to go back to Chops, Cheese, and Chives! Really friendly service, including letting us sample their kombuchas until we found one we liked. My boyfriend and I went in to try their kombuchas and were really impressed by the variety and quality. Shopping through out the store, we saw they had a good selection of teas and groceries. My review is short because we only had their kombucha but its a 5 star place because the service was so personal and friendly. The attendant was asking us if we lived in the area, etc.

I work close by and always looked at this place wondering what it was like, so we decided to stop in. Not only is it charming, and the staff very helpful, but the lunches are quality and the kombucha on tap, well...I will be visiting often!!!

Went in once before it changed names. Wasn't impressed. Decided to give it another shot yesterday. Walking into the store is depressing to say the least. The front area has a shelf of old candy they're still trying to sell from Halloween and Christmas. They're really just reselling big box store products. They tear open boxes of cookies to sell individual sleeves. They don't pull expired products. When we got home we noticed that several items were expired. Some as recently as 3 months ago and a couple as much as a year past expiration date. The most bizarre thing I noticed was all but one beverage cooler had been turned off and they just piled old empty displays in the middle of the floor. Will not go back.

I come in here during the day as I work nearby. they always have something unique, interesting and delicious. The owner is around every time I go in and is very friendly and informative. They carry general groceries, so you could shop here if you don't mind paying for the convenience of an urban grocery. They also carry a lot of local products and have game meat available as well. Definitely recommend; very community oriented and have a variety of gourmet and specialty items.

This might look like a tiny grocery store, but it has everything you need and a lot of local hidden gems that you can't get anywhere else around here. From kombucha to kimchi to cheese to KILLER bread to honey to seasonings and local produce when stuff grows around here. The delightful lady that runs the place is a yoga person so there's plenty of healthy stuff and plenty of unhealthy stuff for normal people lol. They have meat and produce and pantry staples. They also have garbage bags and toothpaste. That kind of stuff. It's a great place for people who like to shop for 2 to 3 days worth of food at a time. But I guess nothing would stop you from getting a ton, except there are no wheeled carts. Or fish at the time of this review. It's also a great way to avoid big crowds while still getting to squeeze your own avocados, fellow Millennials/people who are still cool. There's parking right in front of the store at 420(blaze it) Madison Ave.

Extremely rude and unhelpful staff. I explained I was new to the area and never been in the store. Their website looked good though. April, the counter clerk, made no response and went about her cleaning duties. I asked where the meat counter was. April said around the corner. I went around the corner and saw no cheese and very little meat in the case. I asked where the meat and cheeses were and she pointed to two signs on the wall. Of the three meats I chose from the sign they had two and the third they were out of. I chose a fourth and they were out of that too. I decided to just buy what I had and went to the front counter. I started putting my putting items on the counter and April told me to stop throwing my items on the counter (I am disabled in both arms and one leg). I said just check me out. She proceeded to tell me about my horrible attitude. I asked was she was going to check me out. She just kept insulting me. I asked to speak to the manager. I was told she wasn't there. I asked for the mangers name and number. April said she wouldn't give it to me. We got into a shouting match at which point I just left everything on the counter and left. She followed me out onto the street to tell me never to come back. Believe me I won't be. We just moved here because the company I work for got relocated here. I am going to make sure EVERYONE in the office knows to avoid this place like the plague. If I wasn't required to put a star I wouldn't even give I that. I would have preferred to complain to the manager. But I couldn't find out who that was.
