I wanted to update my review on here since it's been a few years. This has 100% became my favorite restaurant to go to for special occasions. I am obsessed!Literally every time we go it's an amazing experience. Love the complimentary bread & oil, red pepper soup, salmon, and filet medallions. One time I even got their special of the night - scallops - and I was so impressed. Service is always great too. I also like their tropical mule. Always the best date night location!

Not so great this time. I ordered the New York Steak with a bacon and Yukon potato gratin. ($33) The steak was delicious and perfectly prepared. However, the potato was not what I expected. It was a square similar to a hash brown but smaller and consisted of slivers of potato smashed together. There was a slight hint of bacon flavoring but was otherwise tasteless. Our waitress, Laney, said it was prepared with Parmesan cheese between the slivers but I didn't detect that flavor. One end of the square was very browned and the rest of it was white. The green bean side was more like a garnishment with about 8 French style beans. The short ribs special ($32) was mostly fat and my friend was disappointed with her meal.On the upside, the roasted red pepper soup was creamy and delicious but could have been alittle warmer. The focaccia bread cubes were fresh and we dipped them in oil.Carnegie's is a unique upscale dining experience in the cozy basement of the old library. I have dined there many times over the years and this was my first so-so experience. I am hopeful my next trip there will be more pleasant. Our waitress, Laney, was exceptional.

Went to Carnegie's with my husband for Valentine's Day and it was amazing! It was our first time experiencing the, speak-easy-esque, restaurant and we will be back for sure. The hostess was very sweet and greeted us with a smile. We had a reservation and our table was ready as soon as we walked in. We loved how dimly lit the space was, it felt very cozy. Love songs were being played by a woman on a grand piano, which just set the mood even more. Our waitress, Laney, was the best server we've had in a while. She was friendly, timely, always had a smile and was lovely all around. Now for the food... delicious! We ate every bit of every course we ordered. We started with the crab cakes with a spicy aioli (not pictured - inhaled upon arrival) and winter salads, followed by medium rare beef medallions, and finished it off with crème brûlée and a salted caramel brownie with butter pecan gelato. We have lived in Greenfield for 5 years and are so glad that we finally tried Carnegie's.

This local steakhouse is a small town jem. The historic building provides a unique and romantic setting for all to enjoy. Our evening started with bread, oil, and perfect cocktails. We decided to try some of the evening specials, a puree soup that was fabulous, and sea scallops uniquely prepared. Our other main was the salmon dish, also a delicious choice. We concluded our evening with the creme Brule, and a special white cake drizzling with a caramel sauce. Both deserts were amazing. This was our first 'date night' to Carnegie's. The staff was pleasant and overly helpful throughout our dinner, which is always so nice. The ambiance included a young lady on the piano playing recognizable tunes. That is always a favorite of ours. This was a memorable experience. We both agree we will be back.

Elegant! A hidden gem that's worth driving to from Ohio! Amazing dining experience located inside the former library in Greenfield, Indiana. The food is very fresh here. Vegetables are grown behind the restaurant. Fabulous flavors too. The beef medallions were fork tender; no need for a knife to cut through them. My snapper dish was fantastic! Very well prepared & loved the sauce too. The potato pancake and veggies were perfect accompaniments. Highly recommend starting your meal with the mussels; used the grilled bread to soak up the broth. The red pepper soup and salad were very good too. Save room for their Crème brûlée. It will be the best you've ever had. The restaurant is a lovely place to eat. Relaxing environment. The staff is amazing too. Our server was very attentive and helpful. The owner also checked on us too. It was good to meet him. Kudos to the owner and his team for the phenomenal dining experience we had here tonight!

Have been trying to take my wife here for a year, she usually works the evenings Carnegies is open but we finally had a chance. They did not disappoint! Atmosphere was nice, staff was friendly, and the food was amazing! The bell pepper soup I think is now my favorite soup I have ever had. My wife found a new favorite wine during our experience, and we ordered extra soup to bring home. My wife ordered one of the fish dinner specials and I got the tenderloin medallions both were amazing and our server Laney was knowledgeable of the food and menu. Chef Ian came to our table and we were able to have nice conversation with him as well. All around great experience and I will definitely be placing pick up orders of that amazing soup that I now need in my life! We can't wait until we are able to come back (and for the weather to be nice enough for us to experience their outdoor seating I've heard so much about!)

Immaculate vibes. Offers a cozy feel and delightful ambiance. There was a pianist playing Christmas music while we were there and it was so enjoyable! Great service and good food! Menu is small, but offered a good variety of choices.
