Carlo & Johnny

We made double reservations here and at the Precinct for NYE. (These restaurants are super hard to get into!). One party wanted precinct the other wanted Carlo & johnnys. I took the reservation at Carlo & johnnys. We didn't know one would cancel out the other. Our party showed up on NYE with no reservations showing. (It's almost an act of Gawd to get a reservation on NYE!!!) The staff was so amazing. We explained what happened and they were so amazing and got us a wonderful table anyway. The reservation at precinct was good. No issues. The manager at C&J was so kind and everyone working literally tripped over themselves to make our reservation happen even when it didn't show in their system. I absolutely love this restaurant. From the valet, the hostesses, the wait staff, our quiet table and beautiful dining experience and the undeniably mouth watering food. This isn't a place I can afford very often but it is my absolute favorite place in Cincinnati! Everything is amazing! Start to finish. I LOVE this place. Thank you for making every visit, especially our weird reservation issue on NYE, just perfect. Hands down, a first class restaurant, all the way around! You made the start of our new year absolutely PERFECT!!! Thank you!

This was our second visit to this restaurant. We were greeted immediately after entering. We had a reservation and was early, but still had to wait. We were a table of five. I love the antique feel of the property and its historical flair. We were greeted by several staff members while at our table. Our server, a Michael Douglas look alike was helpful and engaging. Our food was delicious overall. The bread was just okay, but I don't like rye. We chose a meatball appetizer that was pared with grits. It was flavorful. We chose a delmonico steak entree and a Duhon pork chop. Our sides were garlic mash and mac and cheese. Our food portions were substantial and we were able to finish our food for lunch the next day. Cookie and cream ice cream was a tasty treat to finish the night.

Beautiful place full of stories and character. Classy, yet relaxed atmosphere.I had the petite filet mignon, and it was cooked to order just perfectly. Unfortunately, I did have a couple of bites that were not chewable. We had a side of baby carrots and these babies were quite large and plentiful, but fresh & tasty. Finished with the butter pie and it was outstanding.Overall, wonderful atmosphere and great food. The only real negative is their pricing, which is way above market (and that's in any market).

The food at any Jeff Ruby restaurants do not disappoint. Overall a great fine dining experience at Carlo and Johnny's. The waitress was super nice and friendly and attentive. The sushi, wedge salad and filet were all on point. I was a bit disappointed at the beer temp. Both of my Mich Ultra's were slightly cooler than room temp. Had to put ice from my other glass into my beer to help it out. Also, not complaining but just advising that dining here takes longer than normally expected. Our diner from start to finish took almost three hours. I was ready to go after that.All in all the food is amazing and definitely I would recommend it to see for yourself.

We went for Valentine's Day with my wife, and some challenges with high volume are reasonable, but not this much, especially for the price point. Reservation process was quite flawed, with over 40min wait past reservation time and no reasonable place to wait so beside the foyer with people coming in and out of the cold (e.g. no bar offered wait to have drinks out of the cold while table is waiting). The drinks were all tasty and the wine selection good. The rib eye was very over-seasoned and the filet was under-cooked to very rare when ordered medium rare plus. Live music in Valentine's Day was a good touch and not overwhelming/too loud. Our server was really kind and put up with all of our awkwardness.

We love Carlo & Johnny's so much! The food is fantastic, and we love the ambience as well. But what we love most is the people that work there. We're so fortunate to know so many of these wonderful people. Our absolute favorite bartender would be Kate. Ashley is also a superstar. We also love Greg. You can't go to a Jeffrey Ruby restaurant without always appreciating Charlie. And also thanks to Brian at Carlos & Johnny's as well. We always say, they put the FINE, into fine dining! Tonight we all had hamburgers, which were fantastic. So from a hamburger to steak to lobster, always the absolute best meal!

We came here for our 10th Valentine's Day together this year. The service we had at the bar was phenomenal. I definitely recommend they were great. The drinks was great. The meals were out of this world. The dessert was incredible. Obviously an upscale steakhouse with a wonderful ambience. We even picked up a signature cigar for my husband. The quality of the cigar was out of this world. The ice cream cigar mousse dessert we had was also one of the best presentations I've ever seen in my life. Jeff Rubys completely out of their selves with this one. To top it off, we had reservations at 10 PM and normally when you have reservations late at a restaurant, you're not expecting to have quite quality service by that point in the evening, but man they were just on point. Amazing staff highly recommend taking your loved ones here.

First time ever eating at any of the Jeff Ruby's restaurants. Carlo and Johnny was phenomenal. Our server, Ashley, who by the way only told us she had been there for a month kicked ass. She was super attentive, nice, and her knowledge of the menu and history of the restaurant was right on par for what I would expect. All of the food was fantastic. Everything 5 stars. Thank you Ashley for making it a memorable experience. Will be back!

The service and food are absolutely standout and the location is beautiful! It was tastefully decorated for Christmas and had a cozy feel with the fireplaces lit upstairs. Although we had a few issues with our visit (long wait time despite a reservation, being out of cowboy steak and nori, and wrong side dish came out), our server, Jeff, and the manager did everything in their power to take care of us and make up for it. This 5 star care and the delicious food is why we always keep coming back to Carlo & Johnny (in addition to the other Jeff Ruby restaurants)!

We went there on a date. The place is very cozy and beautifully decorated. It was packed but the service was great. Our food came out pretty quickly as we ordered appetizers as well. Out mashed potatoes were room temp and the Macaroni and cheese not hot all the way through. I will say we did have a late reservation (8:30) so maybe that's partly to blame.
