We were heading to the outlet mall and looked for a place for lunch and this place came up. Decent rating and good reviews so we decided to try it out. Weird thing is their hours on the weekend, normally they open at 11:00 but on weekends they open at noon. We got there a little early and waited. Once opened we were promptly seated and received our drink orders. We got the iced teas but I think it was from the soda fountain which is normally nasty and it was. We ordered the queso dip and it was good but it was large. The chips have a flavor which I like, not plain and the salsa was good. I ordered the enchiladas a la Michoacan. It was okay. The chicken was extremely dry and the carnitas and steak were also dry. I believe they were left overs from the previous night. The sauce was good. My wife got the taco salad and it was full and not watery but the shell was soft like it was from the previous night and kept overnight. Not greasy just soft like it was stale. The food was good and maybe next time we will come after they have opened a while and hopefully get fresh food. We will give them another try since they have such good reviews but not today.

This use to be a Frisch's restaurant turned El Caporal Bar & Grill. Very clean inside restaurant, with attentive and fast service. Nice ambiance with colorful wall decor. Tried for the first time on a Tuesday night for dinner for two. Bill totaled approximately $80 before tip - outrageous! (2) standard margaritas ($9.99 each), side of queso dip ($7.99), (1) order of enchilada verde $17.99 and (1) order steak ranchero $19.99. Although tasty meal wasn't that great for total price charged.

Saturday lunch.I started with a bowl of tortilla soup. Large bowl, excellent. Broth based, a lot of chicken. I really enjoyed it. My wife had some chips and salsa, excellent. We both had had the lunch chicken fajitas. The fajitas were very good. Very small portions, yeah it is a lunch special but child size. More veggies than chicken. Also no fixings for the fajitas, meaning no lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, nor pico. What you see is the what you get. Good service, clean restaurant. Oh, part of my rating is value . Lunch plates ten bucks each, soup nine.

This was our first visit so I decided to order from the lunch menu. I decided on the fish tacos with rice and beans. The tacos were very tasty. I tasted the beans , not bad but I don't usually like them.My wife ordered the dinner portion of fajitas with chicken and shrimp, it was tasty and flavorful. My wife likes spicy sauces and she asked for the house made sauce. It was a bit too spicy for me with a little heat on the back end. Our server was very attentive, he refilled our water glasses. The food came out hot and on point. The restaurant has a nice decor, the bar looks impressive with plenty of televisions in sight. Nice place to eat. Lunch menu prices are good, if the dinner menu is representative of what my got on her plate. The cost is reasonable

Hubby & I tried this place for the first time. It was really loud inside so we had to practically yell to talk to each other. We were seated immediately upon arrival & the server got our drink order while we checked out the vast menu. I ordered an appetizer of guacamole ($6.99) & it was pretty good. The complimentary chips & salsa were what you'd expect from a Mexican restaurant. Hubby ordered the Burrito Especial ($16.99) with the cheese sauce on the side while I got the Burrito Deluxe ($14.99). We took two bites & couldn't eat any more because the food was so SALTY! Our server didn't ask why we weren't eating the food. He just carelessly dropped two styrofoam containers on our table along with the check & disappeared. He didn't bother to refill our drinks either. We won't be back!

For the longest, I'd been wanting to come here. I finally had my chance on Cinco de Mayo. It was as busy as one would expect, but well worth the wait. They had amazing entertainment and vibes. The food and service also did not disappoint. I love the way they celebrate their culture and invite others to join in.

The staff, food, and atmosphere are all great at Caporal. It's your typical neighborhood Mexican joint, but we feel like this is the best of the options near us.

Okay came on an Elvis Presley impersonator night. Red Flag number 1. Parking lot was seemingly full so I thought they maybe good.Red Flag number 2- The mascot, this thing is very funny if you see it from cin-day. The good food was actually solid, nothing crazy. Service was great, they had no issues with this. Its not a bad place to go for some quick mexican food. Id try it again just not on Elvis night.

Caporal is above average for the Cincinnati area. I understand that Mexican food has to be modified to match the local area's taste preference. If I was judging as a true Mexican restaurant I would give it 2 maybe 2 1/2 stars.
