"For most people who haven't tried a cured ham, they will find it a bit salty. The longer the ham cures, the saltier. That being said, once you learn how to navigate around this unfamiliar and I should mention large chunk of meat and bone, the more your going to love it. There are ways to remove the salt.It will be saltier but that's part of the taste you will learn to enjoy. It's the seasoning you never knew you needed in Ham and Bean soup, Ham and Egg Omelets, Eggs Benedict and many other dishes. There is enough ham to last for quite a while once it's boiled or baked. I like boiling best for long cured ham. It removes more salt. Once done, it's cut into slices or chunks for sandwiches, soups and other dishes and frozen in portions to get out of our freezer any time we want. One of my favorites ways to eat it is to bake some slices in a water and brown sugar sauce. It compliments the saltiness of the ham. Ham candy! I went to visit my cousin who lives near Crescent Springs Kentucky. I got my last cured ham from Blue Grass Quality Meats in Crescent Springs Kentucky. Believe me, I will be back again. Thanks for doing all the hard work. I'm doing the easy work. Eating it. Alan Zumbach"
"Mackie is one of my favorite meat vendors at Findlay (and in the city). I specifically come here to get the sheet of hot metts in the natural casing. They are one of the few that have them in larger quantities (25) and they are plump and fat. IMO any sausage not in the natural casing is garbage. The best part is when you take the first bite and it pops off the grill. SO SO GOOD! Be warned though - I prefer really spicy food. These metts are actually spicy which I LOVE. However most people at parties can not handle the heat, opt for the regular mett pack instead. Crowd pleaser and you will be the coolest kid at the party. Mackie Meats rules!"
"I got tired of meat that was most fatty and misty tough. My hubby came in first. When my daughter and I were extremely happy with the quality of the meat. I cannot tell how pleased we are. Found that ppl also bring in with their produce (tomatoes) which is another treaaure for me . I will continue to cross their their doorway. Thank you Dave's Fine Meats."
"There is just something so intimate to me about butcher shops. You really develop a relationship with your butcher. They learn what you like, your tastes, what your families tastes are, and that to me is an intimate as you can get. And at Wyoming Meat Market - this is what you are going to get when supporting them vs. the counter at Kroger. They have quality products (check out their FB page for daily specials, offerings) everything from pork, chicken, USDA prime steaks. They also have pre-prepared entrees you can choose from to pick up and take home. And a large deli case with everything from potato, pasta, and fruit salad, sides, and fixin's for sammies. I hear their chicken salad is quite delicious. A great little shop along the Wyoming strip, stop in, stay hello and get a steak to grill tonight."
"We stopped by because friends recommended it. We were underwhelmed.Prices were somewhat lower that the Troy meat market but the grade of beef and pork was not to the same level. Chicken is cheaper at Aldi and Meijers.I really doubt that I'd come back."
"I am a huge Humbert Meats fan! I grew up in Finneytown and lived in Carthage. Humbert Meats on Winton was a staple. We moved to California for seven years and just returned. We now live in Delhi and how excited am I that Humbert Meats is so close! Sadly, he Finneytown store is close, but I'll survive. I walked into the Rapid Run store and was immediately greeted by someone behind the counter ready to help. Super nice, super helpful. I bought some of their homemade goetta. I can't wait! I also bought a tri-tip, a cut which is decidedly Californian. I was thrilled to find it here!Humbert Meats will most definitely be my go-to butcher!"
"Food was good - fairly priced. Staff had some challenges but supervisors made things right. Can't blame owners for available workforce. Beef and Cheddar was good -top notch potato salad."
"Friendly service and big selection! We stopped by while in Findlay Market and picked up a rabbit, ground chuck and some wings. My husband has been wanting some rabbit so he was pretty excited when we saw that they have it here. Now I know where to find it. The ground chuck is delicious! We just grilled some awesome burgers with it. We'll definitely be return customers."
"HOLY FISH SANDWICH. This is definitely the MOAFS, the mother of all fish sandwiches. It's pretty much as big as my forearm, perfectly crispy on the outside, flaky on the inside. About 90% of people get it on rye, so that's just what I did. Boyfriend got it on white bread, and both of us were too busy scarfing down our food to ask the other how their bread was. We asked for the jalapeno tartar sauce, and it perfectly complimented the fish. We were both able to destroy it before it destroyed us, but we practically had to be rolled back to my place where we promptly both fell asleep while Netflixing. We also grabbed a side of lobster mac and a cookie, which we glutton-fully ate later as a snack and a dessert, respectfully. The wait really wasn't too bad for Good Friday, there was practically none and they were getting to everyone quickly. I took my friend's tip of arriving slightly after the lunch rush at ~1pm. Get there early but not too early, and not too late or they won't have a sandwich for you! Parking seemed a little scarce (I almost hopped the curb into the neighboring business but realized it was barricaded and I probably wouldn't be able to get back out), but we were able to snag the last one in the back. If there's no parking in sight, don't you worry, there is a nifty little drive-thru window that seemed to be moving at a steady pace.My one #ragret is that I'll have to wait a whole year for Lent to come around so I can get another one of these fishies."
"A nice local butcher shop. There were a couple other customers while I was there. The men behind the counter seemed to know them. Customer service was outstanding. The gentleman that helped me was very nice. When I said I wasn't ready, he told me to "take my time," and to "ask if I have any questions." He also offered my daughter a crunchy pretzel rod while I looked. The meat looked very fresh. Lots of different cuts and preparations to choose from. There were a bunch of side dishes. A cooler on the side had milk, eggs, cheese products, and some frozen items."
"All I can say is "Very Poor Cleanliness Practices. We purchased a combination pack. Had to return to finks for missing portions missing from enclosed list of meats.... .... USDA ,,,, HA!@!! I'm really not sure how they stay in business..."
"Great selection and delicious food. Just enjoyed their catering at the Madeira Chamber of Commerce and the sandwiches, meats, cheese, and salads were great. Recommend the potato salad and Roast Beef."

just purchased your country ham which i do quite often, and am very happy with the flavor. i am however unhappy with the way it was packaged. It had three slices in the package and good slices were put on the outside and very bad pieces of slices were in the center. If they had been quality parts of slices i would have been happy but these were very much scrap, large bones and fatty areas.i will not continue to buy your products if this is normal practice. The quality of your ham should sell itself and not packaging tricks.

The only only place to buy steak for me! When I want a great steak I go to the market to see Mackie meats. The quality is superb! I bought bone in and bone out Ribeye. The taste is phenomenal. I bought filet as well. I have never been disappointed. I also buy neck bones here. They are meaty and fresh!

We were looking for steak and picked up the Brazilian cut of picahna, a horseshoe-shaped sirloin cap that's not something you can usually find. It's used mainly in Brazilian steakhouses on a skewer. The butcher/owner explained all this and how we could cook and season it at home, which was so helpful and not really something you can expect at Kroger. The shop specializes in whole animal butchery of cows, lamb and pigs and in stocking Wagyu beef. You can call and reserve various cuts/make special orders. They also have prepared food like Cuban sandwiches, lobster rolls and salads that vary by day. They do grill outs and recently had fish frys for Lent. They even have wine tastings and live music. Their Facebook page details lunch/dinner options and events.

Got an 8 pound prime rib. Very great quality. 8lb was around 91$. We pre ordered it and picked it up a couple days later. Their service was weird, it looks like it's a queue where you have to walk through the lanes until you get to the cashier... Wasn't crazy about that being that we were just picking up, but overall very pleased with the experience... Especially for being a small town spot.

I like to stop in and grab a deli sandwich and some fresh cut wedge fries from here for lunch. Super friendly service with a smile. Any kind of sandwich you want, if they have what it takes to make it, they will.On my latest visit I ordered a Reuben, wedge fries, and got some candy to go. Total price $6.49. What? That's right... less than 10 bucks for a ginormous sandwich, about a pound of oversized wedge fries, and some sweets. Can't beat the price.I've never bought any of their fresh cuts of meat, but I'm betting that they're pretty savory as well. Humbert's Meats is A-Ok in my book.

We are truck drivers and love exploring what communities have to offer when we roll through and have a few minutes to spare. After web searching for a local butcher shop, Prime Meats has great reviews. Those reviews spoke the truth! Great customer service from all, especially Barb! She even extended a warm thankful hug for our special trip in. Fried bologna sandwich special was delicious! And the prices are right! Whether your a local or from out of town, this is a must stop! Thank you Barb for a wonderful experience.

We came to Findlay Market the weekend before Thanksgiving looking for a fresh, bone-in turkey breast and this was the place. There were plenty of turkeys, breasts, legs, wings, whatever you wanted. And, unlike a large grocery, they gladly butterflied the breast open, while keeping the bone intact, so we could smoke the turkey on the outdoor grill. The Amish turkey (in which they specialize along with Amish chicken and beef) tasted gourmet. We've decided we have a new tradition to buy our holiday turkey here. The Country Meat Co. has only been at Findlay Market since 2018, (when new owners took the reins) but has been family-owned and run since 1965. They also sell smoked meats, and ready-to-cook seasoned meats. If you're in a hurry, they have some pantry items too, cornbread mix, breadcrumbs, seasonings, etc. Directly across from them is a vendor that sells already-made vegetable salads and side dishes, so it's easy to grab a whole meal.

"We bought 4 sirloin steaks ,hamburger and hamburger patties. My husband decided to try the meat and he grilled the 4 steaks so we would have leftovers for tomorrow. Well the steaks were so good we ended up eating them all. No fat, extreme flavorful. Best steaks we have had. Cant wait to try the hamburger. Will be going back. Very friendly place. Highly recommend."
"A hidden local gem of a place. I was a bit hesitant at first but boy my impression of the restaurant changed completely after tasting their food. The menu is huge and The food tasted amazing. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful. The staff are polite and friendly but you might need to use translator on your phone. They also have a super market, where the produce was fresh. They have an awesome chili (peppers) collection. We got the Chimichanga (5/5) fried to perfection with a ton of flavor. The grilled chicken was very good as well but a tad bit dry (4/5). The tacos were the bomb, I got Barbacoa and Alpastor (5/5) both were amazing. The fried plantains were so delicious and I could see them taking a fresh plantain from the super market after we placed our order. The sauces were spicy, flavorful and complimented the dishes. The decor of the place might not be as modern but damn the flavors will send impress you. I highly recommend this local place and I would go again."
"Wassler Meats is a great local butcher shop that specializes in all different cuts of meats and salads. I'm a fairly new customer here after trying a bratwurst from here at an Octoberfest party. I stopped in and saw their large selection of mets and bratwurst. They are absolutely delicious and made in house. Got to stop in Wasslers and see for yourself"
"Queen City Sausage is a family owned Cincinnati company with so much history! They have lots of great products that can be obtained all over the city including Kroger and Jungle Jims! Many restaurants also serve their products. Together with Camp Washington Chili they even created the 513 way featuring a 5way with goetta!!! Some of their token products include Deli Meats, Goetta, Sausage, Metts, Hot Metts, Bratwurst, Hot Dogs, Sausage, and Cottage Ham. They stick to beef and pork products. My favorite items are their Goetta, and their smoked hot cheese sausage. The meats are quality and have great flavor! Prices are reasonable! As an added bonus these guys are very active on social media and one of my favorite things is their recipes. They frequently post new and creative ways to use their products, created by one of their staff members! I have personally tried some of these recipes and they are amazing! I hear this is also a great place to work... with many lunch time perks (no joke). Got to support those great local businesses that take great care of their staff and care about the community they operate in!"
"For over a half a century these guys have been the pinnacle of culinary excellence when it comes to the protein facet of your meal table.I remember back in the 1990s when a young man I called Dr. Oaks would cut my fillet mignon's so thick that Jeff Ruby was jealous. Pass up on the national grocery chain and hit this classic when you want the best."
"Just moved to the Loveland area. Stopped in and was looking for a quick meal for dinner. Ended up getting a couple of the frozen home made meat pies. Very good and in expensive. I also purchased some side salad and a huge stalk of celery. Very fresh. I will be trying the meat pack next."
"Had a good lunch here. The meat was good so was the Mashed Potatoes. I liked how they had the fountain pop and bottles of pop. The staff was very friendly and the prices were very reasonable. I highly recommend It."
"How has no one reviewed Bowman & Landes yet? I'm honored. I used to live in New Carlisle, and my extended family still lives in the area. It wasn't until I was older and became more concerned about buying local meat that I learned that my grandmother has purchased her Thanksgiving turkey from B & L for YEARS. Now that I'm an adult, I buy local meat (preferably organic and/or free range) whenever possible. Since I'm regularly in the area, I try to stop by their deli store to stock up on turkey products. Not only can you purchase your Thanksgiving turkey, but their deli has a great selection of products, such as deli meat, turkey breast, local pork/beef/chicken, cheeses, broth, and noodles. All of the lunch meats are made with their turkey. The turkey pastrami is killer! You can also pick up frozen ground turkey, and they have excellent ground turkey breakfast sausage! You can support a family-owned business and eat a free range turkey that lived a happy turkey life! It's a win-win, really. The staff here are friendly and helpful, and their prices are more than fair. It's worth the drive from Columbus to stock up your freezer!"
"We are a regular customer when we go to findlay market. We regularly get various types of sausages like andouille or chicken or spinich or cajun and many more. We also have bought bacon; several varieties. Prices are higher but i prefer to supportva local business who seves quality food."
"It has been a year and I am back for their ham loaf. Very friendly staff and helpful. I believe all of the meat is of high quality. It is on the expensive side due to the pandemic, but that did not steer me away."
"You've got try the rare roster beef. Everything is soo good here. The people always have a smile"
"During covid we had a pig delivered here for processing. Over The Phone, the staff did a great job explaining to me all the different cuts of meat and pricing as to how I could have the hog processed. When we arrived, there were several freezer cases with a great selection where you could purchase frozen meat and there was also a fresh meat section. We purchased some fresh sausages, some fresh burger and then a variety of frozen meat. We also picked up our processed hog that day.The prices were extremely affordable for meat during the Covid epidemic when everyone else was price gouging. There was ample parking and the staff was very friendly and explained things well.We have been using all of the meat that we got from their facility. The fire house brats are hands-down our favorite Brats we have ever purchased. They have a little bit of jalapeño and some cheese. Jalapeño is not overwhelming and the cheese is perfect. My dad grew up on a farm, and always remembered having fresh hams. So instead of smoking or processing the meat, they went ahead and left us the fresh hams as I requested. It was great!!The pork loins that they processed fit easily in my Insta pot and were a hit with the entire family. We made pulled pork barbecue on several occasions with the different pork loin Cuts.We enjoyed the whole sausage, which was kind of sausage made in a large roll. I chopped it up and regularly put it with peppers and onions and it felt like I was at the county fair. What I most have enjoyed about all of their cuts is the lack of a salty flavor. They process their meat really well. Other places I've had meat processed things so heavily salted you almost can't stand the cuts of meat. Not at Winners. They do an awesome job! I'm definitely heading here annually on a pilgrimage to stock my freezer and for special occasions for grilling in the summer."
"Mosier's Market is definitely a hidden gem. Living in Delaware I get the town saver every month, Mosier's always has a full page ad about specials and deals. What drew me to Mosier's was the price for boneless skinless chicken breast at $1.59 a lb, which is a steal. I was very impressed with the meat selection here, the website states over 100 years of meat cutting experience. Deli salads (Ham, Macaroni, etc) are made on site and while I didn't buy any they were very tempting. I was treated like family here at Mosier's and I really appreciate that, the market is a smaller IGA with locally made pies and Smith's dairy products. I will be shopping for my chicken and other items now at Mosier's. Make a trip out to Raymond and visit Mosier's you won't be disappointed!"
"I have passed by Chops, Cheese, and Chives SO many times and always swore I would pop in. Finally, I made it happen! I was looking for some good produce. Specifically, I was making sandwiches this weekend and wanted a fresh tomato to slice up and add on as a topping. I was in luck. The store is definitely bigger than I expected and there were all kinda of grocery items, many from local vendors. My favorite item that I purchased was some delicious bread from 16 Bricks Bakery. The prices all seemed fair, maybe a little more than you'd spend at a big chain grocer. They also had great local (and regional) Kombucha on tap - how cool is that?! There wasn't anyone at the front of the store when we arrived, but upon ringing the bell, someone popped up and was able to assist us. I'll definitely come back to get some great items from local vendors."
"I just wanted to add to my previous review from 2021 that I visited this place recently, and they now sell delicious 'homemade' pastries. :-) You should definitely try them! Super yummy!"
"Very clean store with great selection of Asian grocery favorites. Staff were very kind and helpful, happy to have found the store!!"
"I have stopped in Humbert's Meats a few times now and always had a pleasant experience, but my visit this week took the cake. I ordered some of my favorite cheese (dill havarti), a giant pickle, and a loaf of Sixteen Bricks sourdough. Service was very quick! When the nice man helping me ran my card, he told me it was expired. I was mortified, but he told me he trusted me to run to the bank and come back with the money I promptly did just that and all was well. The staff here are all so kind and there is such a community feel. Lots of people seemed to know each other and there was banter between customers and staff. Highly recommend a stop at Humbert's!"
"I love this deli. They have the best cuts of meat. The bacon is 1,000 times better than regular store bought bacon. They have a great selection of sides. There's a weekly special that is tough to beat and they always post it on their Facebook page. They also have plenty of other items to purchase like chips, pasta, salsa, condiments, alcohol, frozen dinners, etc. AND the service is amazing. The people that work there are SO nice."
"Absolutely my first stop when I get into town. Thanks Pete for coming out from the back with a handshake! No visit to Ohio would be complete without some super salad and Pete's pasta!!"
"I don't think I can say enough great things about the Brookville Butcher! I apologized in advance for taking my sister there for a visit. I told her that if she purchased the cheddar brats that she would end up dreaming about them after they were gone. She called me a few days later after preparing them to tell me that I was right. The meat is affordable, the work area is extremely clean and they such a great variety of fresh meat. It feels like you're rewinding 30 years and going back to an old school deli. I have tried the hamburger mixed with bacon and cheddar, the cheddar brats and the ham salad. Whoa that ham salad it's not your cheap typical processed ham salad. From the freezer case I have also purchased the prepared lasagna they make in small individual servings that you can just pop in the oven yourself and it was great. There's such a cool variety of breaded mushrooms, hot wings and stuffed chicken breasts in the frozen section and things that you could take home for special occasions, parties or just when you want some special items that you typically won't find in a "normal" grocery store in bulk quantity. They also have freezer packs for set pricing where you can go in and buy a certain number of steaks, pork chops, pounds of fresh sausage or pounds of hamburger altogether in a package brown sack that you can just take home and stick in your freezer. I've also started purchasing gift cards here for family members and they always called to tell me thanks at least more than once because it's such a special experience."
"They have a great selections of meats at the meat counter and homemade beef jerky! I love this little country market. Outside they also have a 50 cent Faygo beverage vending machine. (In honor and memory of my brother I had to get a Faygo)"
"We bought our chicks here last spring and couldn't be happier. We asked for all girls and they were spot on, no Roos. All vaccinated. Pickup was seamless and we were giddy the whole way home. The girls are all grown up and giving us plenty of eggs. Great experience overall. Thanks!"
"First let me say 5 stars are not enough Yelp.. This family owned business has some many great selections for your meat choices. The Goetta is my favorite, now the disclaimer I do not like Goetta.. but they converted me to there famous Goetta. They also have daily lunch specials.."
