The local library and businesses also set up. There's a kids activity area and seating area too. The last weekend of the summer is a festival atmosphere with local beer and entertainment too.... awesome."

I asked my husband if we could stop on our way back and we did. And I'm so glad we did! That corn...WOW! Some of the best white corn (Silver Queen) I've had. We picked up a few ears and I had fun fixing vegetarian meals for a couple of days. We also picked up some beautiful large black berries. They were delicious! Plump, juicy, sweet and tart. I didn't have time to add them to a dish. We ate them all in a day.If you're a corn lover and see one of the roadside stands for Burwinkel, you should stop!"

Stephanie H. "I'm going to start this review by saying I'm not from around here. I hail from Northeast Ohio, where apple picking is a quintessential fall activity that takes place in late September through October. So imagine my disappointment when last October I went hunting for an apple orchard in the greater Cincinnati area only to discover every single one had sold out of u-pick apples by the end of the first weekend of the month. Um, what?!So this year I was determined to get my apple picking in, even if that meant going in the second week of September. Which I did, right here at Monnin Fruit Farm. This place is out in the country as it should be and has a great variety of apples to choose from. When we went, the honey crisp were already nearly gone, but they'd just opened up the winesap rows. We got some of everything, from Fuji to golden delicious to macintosh. You buy by the half bushel or the bushel; prices aren't posted but this year the half bushel is $20. Cash or check only!Be sure to check out the store as well. On our way out we grabbed a dozen free range eggs, some apple butter and a bag of toffee. They've also got local milk, meat products and other produce. Monnin gets high marks for 1) actually having apples, 2) posting u-pick information on Facebook, 3) their awesome store and 4) knowledgeable staff. Minus one star for a confusing map/flag system for identifying apple varieties, and only two sizes for buying apples. Didn't really need a whole half bushel but you can bet I filled that bag! Would be nice to pay by weight or have a smaller size. Overall, this place scratched my apple-picking itch. Great way to kick off fall. Now, who's ready for apple pie?"

We went on a day that went from brilliant sunshine to sprinkles to downpour in an instant, but it had that summer-y, vacation-y vibe to it. When we pulled up, there was a quartet of sorts playing bluegrass. A table out front had an accopanying dog sitting quietly next to his bowl of water. All the doors to the barn were open, and I was absolutely delighted with the crowd, the market, the bar, and the food truck. The view out the back isn't bad, either. We enjoyed a cocktail - bourbon and fresh made lemonade - chicken tacos, and the biscuits and gravy. Afterall, we were there for the Sunday Biscuits and Bluegrass open event! It's such a charming, laid-back place. I will definitely be back when I have friends in from out of town."

It's always cool to come with the husband and kids and enjoy family time and the summer weather. Most vendors also have samples for you to try. It's definitely family friendly and a good place to spend time walking around enjoying life, family, other people and the true essence of a farmers market - the products. My only complaint is I would like to see a few more different vendors. They have a lot of produce vendors who all mainly sell the same types of veggies, fruits and herbs. I get that it's a farmers market but some more different type of vendors (other than produce - i.e. dessert, body products, ice cream, etc.) would be a nice addition or change."

On the outside it looks kind of big and sprawling. Like you think you were going in Walmart. They have some cool little artifacts and kitschy stuff outside. You walk in and they funnel you through this weird little alcove that has some refrigerators and food in it and I was thinking that was very weird. They also have some soft serve hard candy that you bag and weigh yourself. When you walk inside this is the gold mine of Bulk Foods. I love these places. I love Bulk Foods. I get so much crap that I don't need but I can't help myself. They also had a bakery and I think they were serving some hot food but I didn't try it. I did get two rolls of Amish butter and some almond cheese. They also had a bakery and everything looked pretty good. The store was very Full of stuff. Like it looked big on the outside but it was not big on the inside and the isles are small and there's a lot of people inside so it was almost a bit claustrophobic. There's people milling around in front of the hot food counter ordering their food and there's no way you could have a shopping cart in there so you have to hold one of those arm baskets which gets very heavy very quickly. The people that work there were fairly friendly and I don't even care about all those other things because this is a kick ass amish store and I love them."

Heather L. "This has been voted one of the best markets in greater Cincy and I can see why! These guys work very hard each season to obtain great vendors and put on a very organized and well run market. During the start of the 2020 season is what put me over the top with 5 stars. They were determined to start the market as best they could. They set it up so it was pre-order online, and drive thru contactless pickup. While this limited some of the vendors available, as not all have that kind of technology, they did the best they could to continue with safety. I took full advantage of this and was very pleased with how it went. Now that things are opening back up they are again doing a walk up market, but still with the option to pre-order and pickup. The vendors are quality and all very passionate about their products. They really have everything from produce, meats, eggs, dairy, plants, cheesecake, pastas, bath products, bread and baked goods and so much more! Kayla B. "Such a lovely addition to Dayton. If you love Farmer's Markets, you're going to love 2nd Street Market. It's basically a farmer's market - but indoors and year-round. Walkways were wide enough to not be too crowded (even during a holiday event), and it's such a cute little spot. PROS:-Parking. EVERYWHERE. The entire building is long - and surrounded in parking. There are an insane amount of exits in this building (somewhere between 4 and 8), so no matter where you park, there's an entrance. Most of the entrances do require stairs, though, unless you use the main ones. It makes it so easy to hop in, grab what you need, and leave.-Everything is signed and designed for easy viewing. You aren't going to see things from across the building, but if you walk down the building (one hallway), you'll easily pick out what you're looking for.-Good variety of stuff. There's fresh produce, crafts, body products, furniture, gifts, and then lots of food. They've put all of the food providers together in the center of the building, so it makes it easier to just-shop or just-eat. The sellers themselves are pretty varied too - just like a farmer's market. Lots of gluten-free food options as well as pet items, crafts, bath stuff, chocolate treats, regular food, and more. It's a nice variety! -There are four-person and two-person tables. There are a few multi-people tables as well. You can grab some of the food from the food vendors and sit down and enjoy some food with others. It makes it a nice "destination" place for eating when you have multiple people in your party who have different food preferences.-The coffee at Caffeine Carl was delicious. I'm 90% sure I need to come back and get a lot more of this. CONS:-Bathrooms are definitely on the "last resort" type of side. They're not *dirty*, but they definitely haven't been updated in a long, long time. One of the stalls in the women's restroom didn't have a door - just a shower curtain. Bathrooms are clean though."

There is plenty to do in Yellow Springs. What I loved about the orchard is when we arrived, it immediately gave us all the Fall and southern vibes. Pumpkins, a cute country store, gravel road, and an experience I will never forget. There is a long walk to the orchard but it was great family time walking and talking. It was hilarious to listen to our little ones talk about apples and what they thought the orchard would look like. We finally got to the end of two-lane gravel path, and there stands acres of apple trees. WOW! The girls and I were in awe. None of us had ever seen an orchard in real life and boy were we amazed. It was a field of green trees with the cutest apples hanging off of them. Some of them even looked like Christmas trees. This was such a picturesque backdrop! They have a few different apple varieties as well as apple colors. My kids enjoyed apple picking to the core! They immediately ran down the rows and started picking apples off the trees. We had our buckets and were ready to fill them with delicious, crisp apples. We all picked a few apples and tossed them in the buckets. The kids did more than their fair share of picking, but they enjoyed themselves and that's all that matters! I'm not sure that we were supposed to be eating the apples while picking, but my youngest, sweet Robyn, did not waste any time indulging. Let's just say she snagged the best apples for her afternoon snack. LOL! Once our buckets were full, which did not take long we headed back down the gravel road to head back. We could not leave without heading inside of the country store. They have food, plants, and all things Fall. We even tried their Apple Cider Slush which was amazing and bought some Amish baked goods! Needless to say, our time at Peifer Orchards was nothing short of amazing. The staff was also very nice and they had a food truck on site to purchase food from. Great idea!"

Bailey D. "We first discovered Hampton Ridge Farm at the Covington Farmers Market last summer. They're one of the regular vendors - and we purchased some of their infamous Cottage Bacon, and a dozen farm fresh eggs. My fiancé also picked up some of their pamphlets, and had been carrying around the idea that we should buy all of our meat directly from the farm ever since. He'd brought it up a few times, but finally let me know a few weeks ago that he'd placed an order for chicken, pork, and beef, and that we'd be picking it up on the farm from a man named Earl.At first, I was skeptical about visiting the farm. I am so on board with sustainable, organic, local farming, but I didn't exactly want to see "how the sausage gets made" ... literally. My fiancé assured me that we didn't have to see any of the actual animals, and that he just wanted to check out the space and meet the farmer. I hesitantly agreed, and I'm so glad I did.The farm is down in Glencoe, Kentucky ... probably 50 minutes outside of Cincy city limits. We set up a pick-up time, and were welcomed to the farm by a few sheep crossing the road in front of us (I don't eat lamb all that often, so I didn't mind seeing these particular animals). We were then officially greeted by Earl, who is probably the most down-to-earth and inventive man I've ever met. Earl gave us a small tour of the farm, explaining his resourceful processes, and how he keeps the animals cared for in different seasons. I was also grateful to know that he doesn't do any of the "processing" on site: that's handled by a middleman, who then returns the meat back to Earl to sell online and at the Farmers Market. Unfortunately, Earl explained he had just given all of his cows to his daughter and son-in-law for them to start their own farm, so he was fresh out of beef products. He did, however, stock us up on all sorts of chicken, pork sausage, chorizo, pork chops, and two dozen eggs. All of his products come frozen, and we brought an insulated bag with us for easy transport back to our home. While his prices are a little more than what you'd pay at the grocery store, you have to consider the quality and care you're paying for. Most people have no idea where their meat comes from ... even if it's organic. Even though I didn't want to actually see the animals, it's a remarkable feeling to know we're supporting a local farmer. And of course ... the proof is in the taste. Earl encouraged us to compare a store-bought chicken breast side-by-side with one from Hampton Ridge - and there's definitely a clear winner. If you're not looking to take a farm tour, don't worry, you don't have to! Visit their website and place an order for pick-up at the Covington Farmers Market. Or, just stop by the market and see what they have on hand: I promise you won't be disappointed!"
