"Really enjoyable experience!! Great to hear about the history of the building, area and to learn about bourbon. Griffin was knowledgeable and explained all the details and process and made the experience fun! I can't wait to come back in a year to see the new distillery!! The experience includes a taste of 4 bourbons well aged and 2 of them were their whiskeys. Then you get to be the mixologists and make your own blend and buy it if you choose. I couldn't resist (or was it the good bourbon influencing me)... I purchased Lorean's KY Moonshine curated by me!! It's your own mix and label!! So fun!!"
"We had a fantastic time making our own Bourbon at Brain Brew! Very cool to sit outside, follow the video instructions and start mixing flavors for your own unique blend. Everything felt super safe with COVID precautions and we were at our own private table. It was actually awesome to self-pace and then leave with our own custom blend. Definitely a great idea for anniversary or birthday gift. My husband loved it!!"
"I won tickets to the bourbon experience so my husband and I came for a day date. We had fun, Pedro was a very kind and friendly host and I learned a lot about the history of bourbon in cincinnati. It was fun to blend and name our own bottle. I wish the experience had more than just history about the process of making bourbon, a better explanation of how to blend the different types we were given, more details about the process. I had a lot of questions about how to blend. My husband said this would be a pretty young bourbon as they don't make anything that's aged for more than 3 years."
"New distillery and bar. Live music every Friday and Saturday night. Best bourbon selection south of Dayton. The best old fashioned I have ever had. Really no food other than hotdogs and bar snacks. Owner is distilling his own tequila and rum. Not bottled yet but coming soon. I sampled and it will be amazing. Bourbon flights available as well. I highly recommend this place"
"Wow, wow, wow! Look out Mainstrasse, this place is the spot! In-house liquors, cool staff, and a unique ambiance drawing from 1920's mysticism culture. This place is almost too cool. Drinks are delicious! Specializing in bourbon, liqueur, and run. They also have a day-time espresso bar that my other half cannot recommend enough.Prices are excellent. This place deserves love, and I cannot recommend it enough."
"This place is cool. I really don't think I need to say more but I will! The theater is clean and has been updated since the first time I went over 10 years ago. The real draw is everything else though. A full bar with good options made by RJ themselves. Great food and a fun place to sit down provides a for a fun time. During the summer, they open a big turf area to sit outside and have some yard games for everyone to enjoy."
"Our first visit to Boone County was a good one! We arrived a bit early for our tasting-only reservation, and the man working offered to put us on the tour that'd just started. We joined in but realized that we wouldn't make out next appointment so we jumped off the tour after only a few minutes. What we caught, however, was informative. The tasting was nice. We tried five different spirits. The tasting including descriptions about how the spirits were made and how to taste them. Our guide was very helpful and interesting. The tasting--which was $9 per person--also included a shot glass to take home, which was a fun surprise! The location of the distillery is a bit strange--it's in a business park--but the interior is newly renovated and very pretty. We'd definitely recommend a visit if you're in the area! Be sure to try the bourbon cream!"
"My wife enjoyed her MotherDay brunch here. They don't have a typical brunch menu, but the lunch menu was good. We had the chicken and Buffalo chicken sandwiches. Both were very good. The onion rings were excellent. The inside is nice, but if you aren't near the window the space is dark. We stopped by the rooftop for a drink and while it was nice I feel like they could do so much more with that space to make it special."
"They use a hybrid copper pot still and their motto is "they make spirits they like to drink." And thank god for these guys - no offense bourbon belt but I was WAITING for someone like the Belle of Dayton to come in and shake up the game. Right now their signature products are their --Dayton Gin:DOUBLE GOLD MEDAL San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2017 - So popular and riotous was gin in 1700s Britain, Parliament passed five laws to beat it back. Gin's been glorified, vilified, waylaid and run out of town. Now, Dayton dry Gin, crafted in a small-batch, artisan distillery, shoots the notorious juniper berry full with a mutiny of flavors--rye, hops, lemon peel and coriander--steam-injected, vapor-infused flavors held captive in a four-plate copper column. belle of Dayton offers a revival of the spirit for the audacious palette. 46.5% abv (93 proof) Dayton Small Batch Vodka: (Platinum Medal 2015 SIP Awards,Silver Medal 2014 and 2015 New York World Wine and Spirits Competition)- We handcraft Dayton Small Batch Vodka from 100% corn spirits, artisan pot distilled in our 350 gallon copper still. We use naturally filtered, mineral-rich water from Dayton's Great Miami Aquifer creating an extremely smooth and clean Vodka. 40% abv (80 proof)Hell's Vodka®:Abandon all hope, ye who enter here. Deep inside the ninth ring of Dante's Inferno, the final ring of Treachery, is where Hell's Vodka goes to chill. Made from seven of the hottest peppers on earth, including one 800 times hotter than the jalapeño, comes this fiery vodka that may burst your flesh aflame. Drink if you dare. May Hell's Vodka wash your sins away. 40% abv (80 proof) All Natural Peppers- Carolina Reaper, Trinidad Scorpion, Smoked Ghost, Habanero, Jalapeno, Ancho, Belle- some settling may occurA tasting is only $5 bucks and you get to try all three. The vodka was smooth, but next to the flavor bombs of the gin and hell's vodka it was forgettable. The gin was super fragrant and one of the best I have had. It didn't have that sting at the back of your throat. Super excited to start seeing this around town. As for the Hell's Vodka. I LOVE SPICY 'TINGS! BRING ON THE HEAT! This vodka delivers on it's name. Obviously used for mixing. They suggested Bloody Mary's (obviously) but the neat suggestion was adding it to a margarita to get a kick of heat to combat the sweetness. This was my favorite product because I love habanero's and the habanero flavor notes came forward the most for me. We didn't get a chance to take a tour, looking forward to it next time. Be sure to check hours before you come - they are super wonky. Cool story read more about the brothers and the history of the Belle of Dayton here: http://www.belleofdayton.com/our-storyCheck these guys out, buy a bottle and support local makers!"

A few years ago the owners of the old Wenzel Building came before Covington's Urban Design Review Board wanting to transform the building into the Pickle Factory Boutique Hotel. The UDRB was the first step in getting approval for making it happen. Now this review board concerns itself with the exteriors of historical buildings around the city. Preserving historical buildings is job one. The owners quickly reassured the board very little will be done to the exterior. Age appropriate windows would be installed. That meant 1873 style windows. I knew exactly what they were talking about because the year earlier I assisted in making and installing age-appropriate windows for Libby's Southern Restaurant down on West 8th Street. I digress. The Pickle Factory Boutique Hotel was approved and has been operating for a couple of years now. I found out the owners were very pleased when Taylor Swift played Cincinnati. As for me, I was very pleased Wenzel Whiskey was open and I finally got the chance to experience the building which as an UDRB member I voted "Hell Yes!"The backstory about the building and Mr. Wenzel's history is incredible. A man with a dream and how he made a name for himself. What blew me away is this is the first distillery in Covington since Prohibition and it doesn't disappoint. Here they don't make your whiskey. You do. What happens is Wenzel Whiskey gets bourbon directly from different distillers from Kentucky and other states and to quote Mona Lisa Vito in 'My Cousin Vinny' "You blend." There's the fun. If high school chemistry was like this, I would've paid more attention. Go with a lot of friends who love bourbon. The key is share and sample as much as possible. A group can come up with dozens of different taste blends. Any blends that taste bad, which is no such thing, can be dispatched quickly. It's a great time. For a couple hours, you play alchemist and come up with your perfect blend of whiskey. Your unique blend. Your preferred selection. Your cure-all elixir and there's nothing else like it.

I kind of wish there were more stars to give here...Hung out with these folks for a conference on their grounds, which are amazing btw, and got to taste their bourbon selections and even blend our own custom blends which I shared with my friends. Very attentive and knowledgeable staff. Me not being a huge bourbon guy, more of a Scottish and Irish Whisky guy, I had to rely on their knowledge and expertise when it came to everything bourbon. I am glad I did. I usually find this is the good route. You can see from the pictures how amazing this place is. I wish I would've taken pictures of the bar itself and the outside grounds too. Amazing property to say the least. You have to go here and hear their amazing story. And for the bourbon of course.

At my suggestion my sister took my brother in law for his birthday. Many years ago I bought his first bottle of bourbon for his birthday he's obsessed. Service was great, he thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Wow! Large selection of bourbon and other liquors. Their rum and tequila are solid. Didn't try the vodka. Barkeep was super nice and helpful. The cocktails were good. White Dog Ice Tea was their version of a Long Island, and was refreshing, tart, and not overly boozy tasting. I got the Cherry Mama, which was a very tropical drink that kind of reminded me of pineapple upside down cake. They also participate in DORA, so you can take your drinks and walk around town (designated area). Really cool. Clean place. Air conditioned well for a hot summer day. Great customer service. Overall, great experience. Will definitely be back.

Booked a tour here for myself and two guests out of town. This was the best distillery tour I've ever been on. The people that run this place are just honest, funny, good old fashioned entrepreneur human beings. The liquor was fantastic , the cocktails were top notch, and the people were the icing on the cake. Honestly, I hope everyone in the area here comes and supports this business. I know I plan to take all future guests here for a one of a kind experience! Thank you and God bless ! Cheers!

A fun experience for my girls and me. We went online and made reservations for the last tasting available on Black Friday. We were warmly greeted and felt at home the minute we walked through the door. We didn't opt for the tour because we didn't have the extra time in our schedule. Next time for certain. Definitely a highly recommend stopping by for an experience and learning about a top KY industry.

From the moment we walked in, I could tell we were going to have a great experience. The host was so friendly and hospitable and chatted with us but wasn't overly chatty. Our server was helpful as my husband was trying to figure out which bourbons to order for a flight. He enjoyed the flight very much and my daughter loved her pomegranate cocktail. For dinner, I had the pork schnitzel with cherry sauce, which was really tasty but could have used more sauce. Our table also had the lamb shank and the new york strip, which were delicious as well. All in all, it was an excellent meal and I would highly recommend checking them out.

"Brand new establishment has only been open a few months. Thought I would give it a try. Plenty of parking as it is in a large strip mall location. They distill their own bourbon, rye, gin, agave, and rum. I tried their old-fashioned. The bourbon is not as rich as others that I have tasted, but it had a very light and flavorful finish. My old-fashioned was good but not great. They also have a full cocktail menu, as well as offering flights. The decor reminded me of being in Kmart. Because basically it's in an old Buffalo wild wings location. No real character to the decor. They do have several TVs as well as a pool table but nothing really pops as far as the design. Overall, though it was an enjoyable experience. I will likely give it another try."
"Not to be missed!! Absolutely a must see/do/taste in Yellow Springs. Love all their varieties and love that they keep coming up with new ones to try. Waited a year for TNR to open and it was so worth it. These guys know what they are doing. Love the atmosphere and it's nice that they are also right next to a brewery for my beer loving friends. Often a food truck is out there as well. HIGHLY recommend!!"
"Dry rub wings with buffalo sauce on the side. The food and service were great. We'll be back again for sure."
"As the first microdistillery in Ohio, my hubby decided it would be a great place to try on a rainy Saturday afternoon, so we schlepped down to St. Bernard to taste a few samples. We found the tasting room with no problem, and it is in an adorable little old building that has been nicely renovated, complete with a refurnished wooden bar from the 30's (a project completed over an 8-month time frame by Linda, one of the owners). In addition to spirits, you can try out their wines as well.Weekend tastings allow you 4 1/4 oz. sample tasting of your choice from their lists of vodkas, gin, and whiskeys. You pay $5 to do the tasting, which gives you a free shotglass, then it's an additional per-drink charge, ranging from $1.10 to over $10 per sample. By the time we were finished, between me and my husband, who consumed exactly 2 oz. of alcohol between the two of us, we had almost a $30 bill, which didn't include a tip. YIKES!We enjoyed the spirits, kinda. They weren't anything all that exciting, with the exception of their version of a bierschnapps, which isn't even available other than as a sample due to quantity limits. The gin was pretty light on flavor, although in the distiller's defense, he was intentionally shooting for a less juniper-heavy booze, compared to more of the mainstream gins that are so heavy on the plant aroma and taste. We didn't like any of them enough to buy a bottle for home, and again, prices were way too steep for what we tasted. Wines are significantly cheaper at $12 for 5 samples, which were fairly generous pours, from what we saw of our co-tasters. However, other than 2-3 options on their menu, almost all the wines are sweet dessert fruit wines, ports, or meads. NOT my cup of tea. While we were sipping, there was just kind of a weird vibe in the place. The owners kept making strange comments about how they had been shut down for 9 months, how "they" only let them pour 1/4 oz tastings, and rolling their eyes when they talked about state regulations around liquor licenses. It honestly made us uncomfortable, wondering why they'd been shut down and not really wanting to know about their business issues that might exist. Like I said, just kind of weird...While it's very cool to have such a small batch producer here, the prices were really disappointing, and the drinks weren't exciting enough to draw us back. If I liked sweeter wines, I would go back to try those with some girlfriends, but the options are way too narrow for my liking."
"We had a great experience at New Riff with a group tour and tasting. Our guide was personable and knowledgeable. The facility was beautiful. We learned a lot and enjoyed tastings during the tour. My husband enjoyed the bourbon so much that he and a friend also purchased flights afterwards. We'll be back!"
"Came here during taco week and loved the variety. We had the chips and queso, short rib and tinga tacos, and margaritas. The chips and queso were to die for! I hope this becomes a permanent menu item because the queso was phenomenal and the chips I could eat by themselves! Tacos were okay, I wish the tortillas were cooked a little more. Margaritas were pretty good, the flight was one heck of a deal...$6 for a flight of 3! Only thing I didn't like was how loud the trivia was. I love trivia and I am all for coming back for trivia night, but as someone that came NOT for trivia night...I had to yell to talk to the person next to me when the trivia host was talking or playing music on their speakers."
"EXCELLENT tour!! BEAUTIFUL setting...!! TONS of work went into putting this amazing multi-generational gem back into operation, and it really shows!! The owners take you through the history and process behind this family farm and distillery that goes back to the early 1800's. We just took the informative tour of the facility, and really learned a lot... Thanks once again to a Groupon 2x1 offer that gave us the extra push to go check this place out!! Hidden away in one of the most beautiful corners of Miami County, a must-see for anyone interested in learning more about the history of the area and how a 200+ year old family tradition has been revived and preserved!!Tastings, monthly musical events on the grounds (I'll post info on the event soon...) and more await!! Check it out!!"
"This is a very nice small local distillery. It was my first time to visit and I went looking for some Christmas gifts for family. They have a complete stock of all their varieties of Bourbons. I had heard about the select Oceans bourbon and decided to make it my choice for gifts. It has one of the most unique stories of how it's aged (at Sea) than any other bourbon I've heard of. My family is going to love it."
"This open air venue is perfect for all types of events. The spacious outdoor area will be wonderful for summer activities. Add that this place is woman owned and all beverages are made in house and this is a great place to hang out for an afternoon. I attended the Sunday night singer songwriter event and had such a great time. It's happening every Sunday at 4PM through April and supports local talent. It's free and I would definitely say check it out. Food trucks on site if you're hungry!"
"I've gotta say... Old Pogue was one of the hardest distilleries to get to on the Craft Bourbon Trail. It's pretty far away from almost everything! We didn't think we'd make it there but we happened to be in the area (as close as we'd ever be) and ventured over to check it out. We realized quickly upon arrival that they are open by appointment only. We were so sad! But minutes later the man who usually works there arrived and opened the gate. He told us he didn't have any scheduled tours that day but just thought he'd open up in case passers-by came in. Perfect timing for us! He gave us a short tour of the stillhouse and the historic home on the property too. It's a beautiful location right on the edge of a hill (almost mountain) looking down to the river. The historic home has been maintained so well and we really enjoyed looking around. My husband did a tasting and got a free glass that day, so our spur of the moment adventure to rural Kentucky turned out to be a great decision!I know it's far away from most things but if you happen to be sort of driving by, it's worth a stop! Just plan ahead enough to schedule an appointment. (Also there is visitor parking way down the hill, but it's limited so be sure to carpool!)"
"We stumbled into a private party here and ended up staying - why not?! The drinks looked awesome and there was live music. I had the best Moscow mule of my life here, made with Northside Distillery gin. The raspberries in it were a nice touch and cute garnish. Worth the $8. They offer different twists on classic drinks - Moscow mule, Manhattan, White Russian (nicknamed 'the dude') and many more. They also sell some local craft beers including Rhinegeist. They sell pizzas too that smelled and looked amazing, although we didn't try one. There was live music on a Saturday night and lots of games you could borrow and play as well. We had a great time and I know you can pay a bit extra to go on a tour and sample as well."
"We stopped in here on our way down South. It is super convenient to get to off of the highway. The space is very nicely decorated and gives that down home Kentucky feel. The tasting is $15 a person. Unlike most of the other KY distilleries, you won't find a military discount here. The tasting includes a variety of different options from bourbon to flavored moonshine. We loved almost everything we tasted. They have a nice little gift shop and the space is small but still feels spacious because of how they've set it up. The staff are fun and knowledgeable and they really make you feel at home. I definitely recommend it!"
