Bowl of Vegetable Soup

This was my first time going, and I will go back, but I wasn't super impressed. I ordered the Turkey Hotshot, with green beans and a bowl of vegetable soup, and my Father ordered the 3 piece chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and a side salad. The side salad looked nice, it was more than just lettuce and dressing. It had dice tomatoes, cucumber and cheese. The dressing was pre-drizzled on a small amount, and included extra on the side. My vegetable soup on the other hand looked good, but had zero flavour. Very bland is putting it mildly, and I had to add a lot of salt to bring out some sort of flavour. But for 2.50 a bowl, I can't really complain. The turkey hotshot was pretty much what I expected. Sliced deli meat on white bread with mashed potatoes and a plateful of turkey gravy. This tasted fine. Typical diner hotshot, with lots of meat, atleast. The green beans are not seasoned, but don't taste canned. What I sampled of the fried chicken dinner was that it was horribly dry, and not fresh. Since the diner sits inside a grocery store, Dots, which sells broasted chicken in it's deli department, I fear when this was ordered it was just retrieved from there, and who knows how long it had been sitting under the hot lamp. I'm sure their chicken is delicious when fresh, but the plate we got was definitely old and reheated. The mashed potatoes were also oddly topped with brown gravy and not poultry gravy like my hotshot was. Just seemed like an odd kitchen call. Anywho, the diner was pretty much what I was expecting going on. Not horrible, not great, and worth the prices paid. 2 dinners, 2 drinks, plus an extra side of soup for 20 bucks is hard to find in many dining establishments anymore. I expect that things are under-seasoned because it caters to a more older crowd who aren't into a whole of complex flavours. I will return to try other items, especially their breakfast menu (which is served all day). Not many places serve fried mush anymore, so I look forward to trying that. And my father who was debating between the chicken and liver and onions will probably get that next time.

Go and eat here RIGHT NOW! This breakfast spot in the back of Dots Market is the real deal! I love a good breakfast, but even more than that I love an inexpensive breakfast. This place delivers on both.So far I have had the chicken fried steak breakfast (so good!) the biscuits and gravy and the french toast. It is worth coming here just to eat biscuits and gravy. The sausage gravy is clearly homemade and they do not skimp when dousing the biscuits with it.I also recommend trying the potato patties (I forget exactly what they are called) as they are basically mini perfectly fried hash browns; crispy on the outside and soft inside. Dip those in a little gravy, no one will judge! There is usually one person covering the entire dining room and she does an amazing job providing great service, I don't know how she manages!!

What a happy find!Great food, quaint, simple and nostalgic feel. Sitting at the counter flooded my mind with memories of older times when things we not so complicated and hard to maneuver. Real people, real food, no fluff and pretentiousness. Feels like a secret that is kept from the outside world. I plan on going back many more times! After having been there for lunch on three occasions, I can say for sure it's a favorite on my list!

This place is tucked inside a local grocery store and a true gem! Very causal, diner feel. We went for breakfast and the standout was their county fried steak - cooked perfectly, full of flavor and topped with a delicious gravy! It comes with home fries but when it comes to potatoes the potato cakes were where it's at. They are similar to a tater tot but more flattened and had a nice seasoning. We also tried the breakfast sandwich which was okay. Many in our group had the biscuits and gravy and were impressed! I can't wait to go back - really want to check out their burger for lunch.

This is a sleeper home cooking restaurant located in the Dots grocery store on Patterson Rd. My favorite is the buffalo burger with grilled onion and pickle! Side of slaw! 5 star rating in food flavor, food service, and friendly atmosphere! A great find for this Cincinnati guy!

Go there on Saturdays for breakfast. They have the best pancakes-- really light and fluffy, but a don't fall apart when you drench them in syrup. Eggs are good too.The service is fantastic-- they always remember my order. The coffee is good too.
