BrewRiver Creole Kitchen

If you are looking for something other than Mexican or Chinese food then come to New Orleans in Cincinnati. Etouffee sauce was so rich with the andouille sausage and shrimp. Although a small plate had huge flavor. The creole jambalaya was also packed with flavor with a ton of rice. The pickled vegetables were a surprise of spices and had us looking for a similar recipe to make at home. The alligator was a white meat covered in a hot spicy creole coating. To top off my birthday we got the banana foster bread pudding and I must say probably the best I have had in quite a white. It was hot and moist and sweet. I would like to go back in the spring or summer to try their Sunday brunch on the patio. We couldn't really hear the band because we did not sit at the bar. The parking lot needs paved but with nicer weather one may not notice it that much. The menu could use more selections but over all great food. Be sure to make reservations.

10/13/2024. Visited Brew River for the first time. Service , ambiance, and food were all good. I was a bit disappointed that the cheese spread appetizer came with crackers instead of the 16 Brixx Crostini advertised on the menu, but maybe that's a Cajun thing.This place is a good choice for a nice evening out.

The food was good. Service was great and the ambiance is Nola. The food was close to Nola it just slightly missed. The menu didn't have red beans and rice. They didn't have cornbread or serve you bread with saucy dishes. They want you to drink and I understand why. The server Richena was excellent . The price per portion are off. They are slightly small. The music isn't loud just the way I like it. The bread fosters was very good.

Loveeeeeed the food here! Definitely coming back to try all the food items! Decided to come here to Restaurant week. It was so nice outside. We got a table outside, so it was really casual. Inside the ambience includes some live music at the bar and is a little bit more intimate at the dining area.Got the chicken and sausage gumbo as a starter and the pasta Monika as the small plate. For dessert, we got the banana bread pudding. First off, the gumbo was my absolute favorite. So much flavor and spices, and it came out hot and perfect. I wish I had the option of having it as a giant bowl. The pasta Monica was also very delicious. I didn't really taste basil, but there was spinach and the sauce was very creamy and thick. It also says small plate so I was worried it would not be enough, but this was actually the perfect amount to fill you up.and then finally the dessert. Oh that came out warm gooey and absolutely perfect just the right amount of the caramel sauce and whipped cream.Service was a bit slow for a Wednesday evening. Took a while for the sever to come out after being seated and again afegetting drink orders in but it was such a nice day out and wasn't that much of a bother, though we were starting to get hungry. However, the gumbo definitely held us over well until the main dish came out. Everyone on staff was really friendly and apologetic of the weight so that was really really nice.Drinks were not that amazing it felt more like a bar while drink than a cocktail. I felt they had to substitute a lot of things that were in the menu or description and wish they had asked first if you're okay with it vs doing it so you could get something else if needed. For example, there was no cucumber on the Pimm's Cup and they had added limes and cherries, not just lemon. I'm not a huge citrus flavor person. It was still refreshing I just may have gotten something else. on Wednesdays they have $3 martinis, half-price bottles of wine and $2 off any bar drinks for an all day happy hour special which is a nice benefit of going on Wednesdays.Overall, I left very satisfied with my food and really want to come back to try all the other delicious sounding entrées. As I looked around the tables at what other people ordered it looks like the portions are all the good value. I really want to try the Creole jambalaya, the shrimp and grits, mussels, and the Creole étouffée. I will definitely be back!

We walked in and we're greeted by the sound of a live polka sounding band playing and the bartender coming up to the hostess stand and it was the weirdest interaction I've experienced walking into a restaurant. The guy asked if we had a reservation in a very clearly not busy restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. We said that we did not have one and he said, "okay so what's going on here?" We said, "what do you mean what's going on? We would like a table?" And he said, "oh. Ok." And then walked away. He looked as if he was hungover or didn't sleep well or something, but ... you're at work? Sooooo put on your best acting skills and be friendly and polite to customers walking in the doors of the restaurant? Just a thought. Just very odd experience and I'm surprised we didn't walk out with that being the initial interaction. Anyways. The hostess came over and sat us at a table for two and we had some late lunch/ brunch with a great waitress. The Bloody Mary was topped with olives and bacon, pretty standard taste for a Bloody Mary, no complaints, nothing special. The Eggs sardou was a dish recommended by our waitress, and I can see why. The eggs were perfectly poached paired with artichoke hearts, creamed spinach and crispy potatoes to complement the meal. This was fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone going there. We also ordered the Eggs st. Charles dish. It was good, and the biscuit was fluffy and tasted heavenly with the jam that came alongside it. I'd consider ordering a plate of biscuit from there because they were so delicious. Overall, great food, great waitress, meh to the guy bartender with lighter hair and pierced ears.

My wife and I made a dinner reservation. There was live music from a quartet of musicians covering Grateful Dead, CSN and other great songs. Mollie our server was friendly, helpful and attentive but not intrusive. I enjoyed blackened catfish served on a bed of seasoned fries. My wife had the Pasta Monica. Both were delicious. Also had smoked Gouda & Pimento cheese, pickled vegetables and Chicken Gumbo appetizers. Finished with Bananas Foster Bread Pudding.

We came here for a reception after my uncle's funeral service. I think we had the whole place booked, or at least most of it.The staff were super kind, and helpful and professional. Drinks and food service were handled so well. We just had a buffet: salad, crackers and pimento cheese, fish and chips, and jambalaya. But man, it was a good buffet. Every single thing was great: thick chunks of tender fish, perfectly fried. Really good seasoned fries. Remoulade and tartar sauce that were clearly house-made and tasty. A nice fresh salad with house-made croutons, and a pimento cheese dip (it may originally have been a ball, but I didn't see it right away.) Cool place, with lots of nooks and crannies, and a couple of big rooms we used, plus the bar area. Decent parking (be careful pulling in and out, it's right on the road.) Good music, which they turned down when our guitar-playing friend started up. A pleasant end to a sad day. A really good way to catch up with family, in a good venue, with good food. Oh, and a good wine and beer selection. Plus mixed drinks etc., but I didn't partake of those sections. I did glance at the regular food menu and saw plenty of things I would have tried.

The reason for this 1 star is that we were never served. We joined friends at their table, but no one ever came to take our food order or drink order, though we were initially told someone would come. This was on a Fri evening. My spouse eventually went up to the bar and ordered drinks, but no one ever brought them to us (our table was right in front of the bar). Spouse returned to bar 15-20 mins later and asked bartender if he'd forgotten us.... Only then did he give us our drinks. Yeah.... NO.

We oddly had not been to the new location of BrewRiver yet. We had heard that they were struggling a little bit with loss of their lease at Sonder Brewery, so we made a point to go support them. We were there on a Wednesday night and the place was hopping, which is great. Wednesdays are also $3 martini nights, and they were good! We started with the poutine and I had the muffaletta sandwich, both were tasty. I'm also happy to report their ketchup is much better than it used to be. Our server had the whole room, which was a lot, but she hustled her butt off. The ambiance is a little bit of everything, and depending what you're looking for, they have it. There are romantic booths, large tables, outside dining, and a lively bar area. Go there and support this great, local place!

Great food, great service, great drinks. Definitely worth another visit. The bartender, Tristan was very polite and friendly and made a great Sazerac. 5*++
