Cute dog on the front desk.
Overcooked crab Rangoon. Way too burnt. Hard to chew.

I am still delighted with them. Other Chinese restaurants in town who shall not be named have chopped their servings in half, and are cheating people on what goes in the plate. These guys are not. These guys are being very good. Also, they have great food, quick turnaround, decent prices, and they're very friendly.

Fresh! Delicious. Fast! We enjoy good carry out from Asian Cottage. Recently we ordered more healthy options - Kung Po Chicken and Szechuan Chicken. We often are fried dish people but tried something new. I've done the above KP and SC at other establishments... way more meat elsewhere. This turned out to be all sauce and veggies. I wanted to love it, but this was not great. We generally love this place so we will try again. Maybe a one time issue. If it's not, I'll update the review and would then recommend another name in town... but I'll hold that until we give our Asian Cottage friends another try.

Located in strip mall to the left of Kroger Marketplace (right off the hwy). Most of the business here is called-in for take-out. It's very small inside. Just 3 booths and 2 tables of 4. Though on my first evening here, I did sit inside at a booth since I arrived 45 mins just before closing. No bathroom access due to COVID. Food was freshly made. Very hot. Decent. It's good I suppose. Still not the actual fried rice I was searching for. However it was made as requested with real chicken! I have yet to find anywhere in Dayton or Cincy that serves true fried rice. Rice here was barely white with maybe a few more dashes of soy sauce than other places I've visited in Ohio. No place compares to ANY of the asian restaurants in Boston. My friend said their lo mein was by far the best she has ever had. She is from Columbus (62 yrs old). Posted signs inside said "Voted 8th out of 100 in US". Hmmm... That's a pretty high rating. I'll have to return a second time and order something other than the Kung Pao chicken to place an opinion on that. Location has been here since 2007, but new owners took over in 2016. Host at counter was very nice and accommodating. Food is well priced for the large servings we received. 2 combo orders ($27) will feed 4 adults. Worth a try.

This business has modified hours and procedures during Covid-19.Check the website to confirm hours - currently, the modified hours are 3-9pm, open only for takeout and delivery via Doordash.Friday and Saturday's, be prepared for 90 minute wait (vs site quote) and I highly recommend ordering online vs in person or calling.Use website: www.asiancottagetroyoh.comThe staff of this popular restaurant are swamped and ordering online is more efficient.Site will quote 40 minutes .... read guidance on confirmation and plan for at least twice this time. There is a note on the confirmation to allow more time on Fridays and Saturdays but in my simple mind, that meant another 15-20 minutes not an additional hour...That being said; It is worth the wait and there is great music in the waiting area (you can also maintain social distancing in the space). How long was that additional wait time?My order was quoted for 6:52PM and I had my order just after 8PM.Yes... that is a long wait but observing the hard working staff - this is simply the situation when high quality results and very busy peak hours occur, especially to a small operation. It's still worth it.Food was quite good. I highly recommend the Mongolian Beef. It is my hands-down favorite choice and the best I have ever had to date.I am old so this is a meaningful declaration. Mongolian Beef is my gold standard. It's my favorite litmus test, right up there with a cup of chili at a Diner, refried beans at a Mexican spot, or a Reuben sandwich at a Deli. There are a few things I would avoid, here - first, out of policy, any "American" food on the menu.Second, the appetizer of barbeque ribs had a great sauce flavor but the meat was extremely dry and almost had the texture of jerky.Everything else so far? Quite good. Thus far we have sampled / had:Vegetable pad thaispring rollsegg rollswonton soupdumplingsMongolian Beef I'm looking forward to trying more of the menu but will find a different day of the week for my next order.Be a good sport. Tip for carry out. Be patient and be kind.
