Really great steak sandwich! The cashier recommended it to me. OTR eatery is my new favorite lunch spot during the work week, and as I make my way through each place, so far 1883 takes the crown! Love their selection of healthier options and meals that are thoughtfully prepared.

This is a great lunch spot for folks working downtown. Their salads are fresh, they offer many daily specials, and you get a good value. I've tried most of the items here and they're consistently good across the board with simple preparation and high quality ingredients. My go to is usually the power salad, which consists of roasted cauliflower, mixed greens, corn, quinoa, and sweet potato - there's a ton of nutrition packed in and it is pretty filling even though it's light. Most important, it tastes great!

I come from Chicago where there are SO many salad bars which are just perfect as a lunch option. Having a salad collection like 1883 in Cincinnati makes me excited! First, it is located in the Kroger eatery on the Rhine which is so perfect because of the number of options and location (separate review). I've only been here 3 times out which I have tried 2 salads on the board. My recommendations are these two for sure:1. Colorfall salad - house vinegar dressing 2. Brussel sprouts salad - house Thai sweet chiLi dressing Tip: the large option is a huge proportion and is sharable

Was waiting to order with another lady while two employees completely ignored us. There's no signage that states their hours, but all the other restaurants were open and serving people. A lady that is apparently with one of the employees walked up and said "I think he's shutting down. I don't know why he ain't tell you". I'll never visit again, as there are too many options to put up with that.

My husband and I decided to try out a few restaurants at the food hall above Kroger on Court Street. Love that 1883 Cafe was named after the year that Kroger started - never realized that they have been around that long! The cafe looks bright, clean and inviting. We shared a Reuben sandwich with chips and a delicious muffin with banana and chocolate chips. Love that they asked if I wanted the muffin heated up - it makes it taste fresh from the oven with melty chocolate. Some of the items are gluten free and some are vegan! You really need to look at the glass cases to see all the wonderful salads, too. My very favorite is one called Colorfall - it is a beautiful rainbow of fresh veggies and tastes as good as it looks. They serve lunch, dinner, brunch and if they don't already - breakfast will be there soon. There is a sign that tells you to keep your receipt for free parking so that's a huge plus. We will definitely be back!

I was pleasantly surprised by the Kroger Company's 1883 Cafe on the Rhine at the food court. I had a double decker sandwich that came with chips and I also purchased a salad both were very good. A couple of improvements I would like to recommend to make this Cafe even better. They sell canned beverages that are overpriced and it would be much better if they would join the long list of restaurants who have self service beverages from a fountain. Most of the industry has gone that direction. Burger King, McDonald's, Taco Bell, Jason's Deli and many others allow customers to get their own beverages and refills are unlimited. The 1883 full service restaurant in Union, Ky is very quick to keep beverages replenished so why the canned beverages at the 1883 Cafe. They do have a sign that says you can park free with a $15.00 purchase but having been my first visit I didn't know about that so I didn't park in the place where parking is free. I would like to see this fully explained on their web site for people who are considering trying the 1883 Cafe for the first time. The 1883 concept both the full service variety like the one in Union and the Cafe1883 on the Rhine in Cincinnati have a lot of potential for the Kroger Company and could turn in to a very successful endeavor for them as they expand the brand.
