Chutneys Indian Cuisine1801 E Baseline Rd #104, Tempe, AZ 8528390% were Indian customers. Which is a good sign. Had an amazing first visit to this Indian restaurant and it definitely won't be my last! I was pleasantly surprised to find the unique "ball" dish here, something I've only seen on YouTube before. I had always thought I would need to travel all the way to India to try it, but here it was, right in front of me.To enjoy this special treat, you simply use your thumb to poke a hole on the top, fill it with your favorite ingredients, and then savor the delicious flavors in one bite. I found these balls to be a delightful highlight of the buffet, totally worth it!The goat curry had a bolder seasoning than I'm used to, but I actually enjoyed the aggressive flavors. If you prefer your goat curry to be packed with spices, this is definitely a dish to try here. While my overall experience was fantastic, there were just a couple of minor things I wish were different. Firstly, I prefer freshly baked naan over the buffet table option. Secondly, the Coke was served in a can without refills, which was a small downside for me.Overall, the food was delicious, and the service was excellent. I left feeling grateful for the opportunity to try something new and exciting like the balls. Looking forward to coming back for more culinary adventures! #DeliciousDiscoveries #IndianCuisineJoy

It is far from our place but we have been here multiple times & we always enjoy the food here. Here is my take on different parameters:Food: Great authentic taste for most of the dishes. They really have a good chef in the kitchen.Ambiance: It is well decor and looks classy inside. You will love dining here.Price: A little expensive compared to other competitive Indian restaurants.Service: We did not face any issues during our visits. Service is quick and the staff is welcoming too.Overall take: I would recommend this restaurant for the great taste.

I was so disappointed. I won't be going back to what was once one of my favorite restaurants. They have evidently changed owners. The selection on the buffet was very limited. The only thing I could recommend is the butter paneer. It looks like they are doing more banquet business.

We've been looking for good Indian food since moving to Arizona. I'm pleased to announce that Chutney's has great Indian food! Anjani, the Owner is always a gracious host and beyond generous with food portions. The best value is all you care to eat buffet option. Avoid Monday thru Thursday since those meals were menu only and not as fresh as Friday through Sunday offerings.

Food was tasty but watered down, tiny portions, and very expensive.... They also don't serve rice with entrees. I will never order from here again. I've eaten here in the past and always had good experiences. I called and spoke with the manager - he didn't care and said I didn't have to eat there again - did nothing to make it right. I absolutely do NOT recommend this place. Many other good ones out there.

This has got to be the worst dining experience I've ever had. The owner or manager, who seems to think he's the epitome of excellence, couldn't be more wrong. Not only is he utterly incompetent at his job, but he also lacks any sense of customer service.First off, they have the audacity to demand payment upfront for your order, including the tip, before you even taste the food. Who does that? It's as if they know their food is flavorless and they're banking on the fact that once you've paid, you're stuck eating it.The food itself is bland and tasteless, as if they've never heard of seasoning. Instead of acknowledging this, the owner arrogantly believes that everyone else simply doesn't appreciate the "subtlety" of his dishes. To add insult to injury, the service is abysmal. We had to practically beg the staff to bring out our food, standing in front of the kitchen. If the owner can't handle the volume of orders, why not close up shop until they can get their act together?Save yourself the trouble and avoid this place like the plague. There are plenty of other restaurants in town where you can actually enjoy your meal and receive decent service. Trust me, you'll thank yourself later.PS: I'm waiting for the owner to respond with his usual arrogance, trying to justify his terrible management and blaming customers like he always does. But let's be real: there's no excuse for such awful service. It's time for them to own up to their mistakes and make some real changes.

I was very disappointed today when I went to the lunch buffet at Chutneys. I used to like this restaurant a lot. it so happened it was mostly on Thursdays. Today is Wednesday. I don't know if that was a factor, but as a customer I expect good food and good service every time. Today it had neither.I reached there shortly after 1:30pm. I was surprised that the place was almost empty. Only one table was occupied in addition to mine. After that group left, I was the only one left until another group entered. So it shouldn't have been difficult to serve. Actually it was a buffet. It doesn't require a lot of service. Just some basics. It started with poor to no service after I was seated. I had to ask for everything - water, napkins, fork. After sometime I had to ask for bowls at the table that has plates but bowls were missing. Nobody paid attention to anything. The food was cold. It did not taste very good, though it was not bad food. I am sure it was tasty when it was hot or at least warm. Some food items were very low in quantity. The nan bread had just one quarter piece left and it had gone cold. When I asked if they would bring more nan, they did bring me a basket of freshly prepared nan which was very good. Other than that, the only things that tasted good were the salad materials and the two desserts- rice kheer and gulab jamuns. So I ate mostly desserts; not a healthy way to eat a meal.In the past I had liked this restaurant so much that I had brought guests with me to the lunch buffet. When I was visiting Tempe, I often planned on eating there. It was very disappointing to see this place in such a poor condition. I saw that there was just one person doing everything and he was probably tired. I walked away as a dissatisfied customer. I am not sure I want to go there again for the lunch buffet.
