Fruit birthday cake...so light! So delicious!
Portuguese egg tarts!
Pineapple bbq pork. Look at the size!
Bland sticky rice, bland egg tarts, bland almond cookie, bland sponge cake, and decent coconut bun.
Mixed Fruit Cake 什果蛋糕 ($4.75) - it's good! The cake is light and soft and spongey
Pastries
Inside of Coconut Cocktail Bun 雞尾包 ($1.85) - I didn't like the filling: too buttery for me.
Inside of Ham & Egg Bun 火腿蛋包 ($1.85) - tasty!
Inside of Red Bean Melon Pan Bun 豆沙菠萝包 ($1.85) - I really liked this! The bread has a nice chew; the crispy melon pan topping is delicious
Had to get the infamous BBQ Pork Buns from Chiu Quon while in Chicago's Chinatown!
Inside of Pan-Fried Glutinous Rice with Red Bean ($1.85) - great!
Inside of Coconut Swirl Bun 椰絲包 ($1.85) - fluffy, not too sweet. Slightly on the drier side. Not much coconut mixture.
Inside of BBQ Pork Melon Pan Bun 叉燒菠蘿包 ($1.85) - too sweet. Better without the sweet melon pan topping.
Red Bean Melon Pan Bun 豆沙菠萝包 ($1.85) - I really liked this! The bread has a nice chew, and the crispy melon pan topping is delicious.
Roast Pork Bun
Inside of Phoenix Cookie 鷄仔餅 ($1.85) - it's interesting. Very sweet yet also savory and meaty. Has red fermented bean curd.
Ube Mousse Pudding Cup ($7.95) - I like it! The ube mousse has a noticeable ube flavor.
Inside of Egg Custard Tart 蛋撻 ($1.85) - extremely eggy; tastes like eating straight up egg.

Absolutely love Chiu Quon. I used to go several times every week to get my fixing. And the quality of anything has only improved thru the years. One of the best values still in all of Chinatown I like a combination of the pineapple and BBQ bun. It's the best combination I thought. Also like the big bao (steamed). The steamed items are usually the best kept secret. Dimsum, and the white baos are fabulous. Great value vs the restaurant They are cash only so be prepared for that. The staff is friendly and speaks fluent English for those of us ABCs that gets words confused. Not a seating kind of bakery, just take and go. Also have a location off Argyle st

we were excited to try chiu quon bakery & dim sum for an affordable brunch in chinatown. good variety of sweet and savory baked goods & fresh dim sum.cash only -- all the buns are very affordable, most under $2. dim sum was around $1.25 per piece.// baked bbq pork bun $1.85 //what i came here for. i love baked bbq pork buns as they have more filling than the steamed white ones. the baked bun was so soft and chewy -- it had a generous amount of bbq pork filling (both meat and bun on the sweeter side). i think it would be even better when warm, but it was very yummy.// pork shiu mai $4.50 //came with 4 pieces. the shiu mai were warm and flavorful.i enjoyed my dishes and would definitely come back!

My family is Chinese, and growing up, we would come to Chiu Quon every time we visited Chinatown. We would order their taro-filled fruit cakes for birthdays and special occasions (highly recommend), and we would buy boxes of buns and cakes and egg tarts and rice desserts to take home for the upcoming week. I particularly love their pineapple egg custard buns, cha shao (bbq pork) buns, rou song (pork floss) buns, dou sha (red bean paste) buns, taro buns, lao po bing (wintermelon cakes), both varieties of egg tarts, and sticky rice desserts! My mom is also a huge fan of the roll cakes. For over a decade, Chiu Quon has remained one of my favorite places in Chinatown, with super affordable prices and a huge selection of delicious baked goods. My only complaint is that the nian gao (Chinese new year rice cakes) got smaller and pricier. I don't buy those anymore, but everything else is solid!Just make sure to come early before everything is sold out, and bring cash!

Featured in Chicago's iconic eats. A upscale Chinese bakery. All the items are behind glass and labeled with prices. I got the almond cupcake for $2.85. It was fluffy moist and delicious. Everyone was buying multiple items and eating them on the spot at the counter. They also sell bao in bulk in the fridge section. They also have soy, mango putting, cake slices, and various drinks including lychee. They have your rational custard tarts and all kinds of cookies and pastries.I highly recommend this place for their selection and great prices. Just a note it's a cash business.

FYI -- Cash only!Chiu Quon is a Cantonese bakery that has all the basics. I picked up a Portuguese egg tart (they were out of HK style!), roasted pork bun, wife cookie, and a mini winter melon mooncake. All four of these only cost 8.99 total, which is a complete steal. The winter melon mooncake was my least favorite. I wasn't a huge fan of the stringy texture and I mistakenly thought there would be a yolk in here (there isn't). I do think this is more of a personal preference. The egg tart was still good the next day. The custard was very creamy and very flavorful. The roasted pork bun was also very tasty and there was a good amount of well-marinated pork inside. The wife cookie was good, too, and the paste wasn't too dense or overly sweet.I would recommend stopping by this bakery if you are ever in Chinatown and want some Cantonese baked goods!

Was excited to check out Chinatown while visiting Chicago and this was one of the spots everyone said to hit. We got there right after they opened and it wasn't too busy with just some commuters and locals picking up breakfast from one of the several bakeries. The selection is pretty huge and can be overwhelming if you don't know what they have on offer. Of course there are the standard things like baked & steamed bao, coconut buns, mooncakes, cookies, etc. There's also a cold case with some jellied deserts, sponge cakes, and the like. We got a steamed bao, baked bao, and some winter melon cakes (wife cakes). They were all pretty good and I can see why the spot is popular. I don't know if I'd rank it on the same level as Vancouver or Toronto dim sum/bakeries but still tasty and reasonably priced.Don't think I'd make a special trip again but if you're nearby it's definitely worth it.

Saw this place on social media and we had to give it a try! It came up on numerous tik tok suggestions so we had to see what the hype was about. I believe there are multiple locations but this is the one thats in the Chinatown area. Just a headsup, they are cash only but do have an ATM!Parking is a little questionable but understandable. We got lucky and got street parking right across from the bakery where we didn't have to pay. If you're on the main street of Chicago, you will have to pay for parking. There's a parking lot a few blocks away that you have to pay for. This is such a popular area so don't expect to get parking easily. The bakery was small but very clean. Everything was out for display a neat fashion. They had a small freezer with cakes as well. There isn't anywhere to sit around and chat. They have a small stand up counter but nothing to lounge around. But this place isn't meant for you to sit around and have coffee with friends. You can tell the employees put their heart into this bakery. They were very kind and patient. They were friendy and joking around with us and managed to keep things efficient. My favorite was definitely the portugese egg tarts! They melted in my mouth. They weren't to sweet and the crust wasn't too flaky. I've heard a lot of good things about their pork buns so I hope next time I go, I can get there in time before they sell out. This place definitely deserves the appreciation its been receiving on social media. I know next time I come into Chicago, I will definitely be planning to come back here.

Yummy traditional Cantonese bakery store with a wide selection of baked goods and dim sum! We got the signature Portuguese egg tarts and regular egg tarts, both of which were flaky and delicious! The custard inside was so soft and melted in my mouth. The curry bun was large and packed with meat, small diced up veggies, and curry. Not my favorite combo of flavors, but yummy regardless. The service was very efficient, and you can see many of the baked goods displayed inside a clear case.

One of my favorite bakeries in Chicago love their chicken feet and their Portuguese egg tarts. Decently priced as well and despite having a lot of people, service was pretty good and we were in and out quickly. Open late too!
